Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you — the Wii Shop Channel and DSi shop are finally accessible again after the two were suffering outages for months.
The stores were first reported as offline back in March. Then, in May, GameXplain reached out to Nintendo, who stated that it had "nothing to announce", but thanks to Nintendo Everything, we now know that the stores are both up and running once again. We can all get back to listening to that jingle again just in time for Wii Shop Wednesday!
Don't forget, even though the stores are back, you can't buy anything new from them as Nintendo ended the functionality of both the Wii and DSi stores in 2019 and 2017 respectively. But access to the store means that Wii and DSi owners can now re-download any games that they purchased prior to this. So that's good news!

It wouldn't surprise me, they are quite likely downscaling the server because it probably has very minimal traffic now.
The most traffic it was receiving would've been from Dolphin Emulator, which has an option to fetch Wii firmware files from Nintendo's servers.
Can't believe the Wii is still alive in 2022. That's 16 years since it launch in 2006.
Now everyone can settle down and go back to NOT using these services.

I bought tons of disks on Wii, but due to region locking I had to hack my latest Wii to play them. This also means that I am no longer reliant on the Wii shop.

An unpleasantly long SNAFU, but all's well that ends well. The fact that these shops' redownload servers still run and are still MEANT to run two generations past their platforms' prime is a decent rebuttal to everyone who laments the digital era as soon as another store lowers the curtain on the purchases themselves (because even if these servers did go down someday, their contents would definitely NOT inhabit multiple corners of the internet and particularly its P2P domain, no siree).
Thank goodness. This had me panic upgrade my 3DS storage so I could fit everything on it at once lol

I think I have backups of everything I downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop, but I might check them out, if only for their music.

I had everything downloaded onto the Wii and SD card already except for one game, My Pokémon Ranch so I guess I'll avail of it while I can.
I don’t think this news will attract equal attention as when the service went down. People love a good pile-on where they can get it, with no pile-off to satisfy any symmetry, lol

This must mean the Switch Pro is coming because every move Nintendo does is to prepare for the Switch pro obviously

@Serpenterror the eshop outage thing never bothered me, but I still whip out the ol Wii for some waggle fun every couple months. actually just played contra rebirth and Mega man 9 like 2 weeks ago.

@AlanaHagues You can still buy DSiWare on the 3DS eShop, but I believe Wii Shop products are still locked behind the Wii's shut-down store.
It only took Nintendo four months. The worst part is their arrogance when asked simple questions, "We have nothing to announce".

@Strumpan When I recently acquired a Wii U again. I wanted to link my Nintendo ID to that one as I had sold my original one. Nintendo could not complete the request until the server maintenance was completed since I have Wii Shop purchases attached to my Nintendo ID account.
Is there also a sale in the shop?

It doesn’t work for me. I’m getting the exact “Unable to connect to the server” error I always get. I’m using a Wii U and I know it’s connected properly. I lost all my Wii Shop downloads and I’m really excited about downloading them again. Is anybody else having issues?
@Kilroy This article is specifically related to the stores on the Wii and DSi consoles, rather than the 3DS Eshop and what that is capable of
@LXP8 Sure, but I felt it necessary to also note that you can still add funds and buy from the DSiWare library on 3DS because by not making any mention of that, this article would make it seem it's impossible to buy anything anymore, which isn't true.
