It's been a quiet week for the UK charts, with little change to the all-format top ten list. Mario Strikers: Battle League Football started strong last week at the top of the pile, but has now slipped into third, with both Horizon Forbidden West and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga taking first and second place respectively. The latter also saw exceptionally strong performance for the Switch, making up 42% of total console sales for the week.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land once again slips out of the top ten, but remains at a comfortably strong position at number eleven. Time will tell whether the game gathers steam again, but with the recent release of three Kirby SP titles on the Nintendo Switch Online service, this may give it a slight boost.
Elsewhere, Final Vendetta enters the top forty, though evidently hasn't set the world on fire, coming in at number thirty six. In our review of the game, we thought it was a solid effort by Bitmap Bureau, though not without its faults.
Take a look at the top ten for the week right here:

Is this a resurgence for Forbidden West?
While I think that people are being way too nostalgic with the Strikers series as this new entry does pound the others gameplay-wise, it's definitely on the underwhelming side because of it's lack of content. I just hope Nintendo doesn't give up on it and adds enough to make it reach it's potential.
this game feels like its fizzing out way faster than the other mario sports, really just stripped down to just quickplay battles. at this point im just waiting to see which characters theyre bringing back
I've actually been on a Final Fantasy Marathon beginning with some of the Pixel Remasters and then moving onto what I consider one of the best games on the PSP but frustrating, Dissidia Final Fantasy followed by Final Fantasy XV (PC) and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Deluxe Edition (PC)
I'm just waiting for Mario Strikers to be updated so in the meantime I'll be busy with Final Fantasy.
@StarPoint
It is bundled in with the PS5 at the moment so when it shoots up the charts you know there has been another PS5 re-stock.
No surprises here. When you rush a game, these are the results. It’s a content disgrace. I still want the game but I would never buy it at full price. Maybe at a 50% discount. Or when the updated content justifies its price.
In a weird way I hope this game fails so Nintendo can learn a much needed lesson with these kind of lazy sport sequels and practices of releasing unfinished games just to be updated at a later time.
It’s ironic that even in the Uk, the land of football, this is struggling to sell against Lego Star Wars. It does say something.
Unfortunately I agree with these statements about Mario Strikers. Charged was one of my all time favourite games, and whilst I enjoy this new game, there is just nothing to really do.
I have finished all of the single player content and now I get to face off against real players who are in clubs to have fully optimized teams. sigh
This game is not fair to be advertised with single player content at $60.
I’m having a blast, but I play mainly online (600+ hours on Splatoon 2 says it all).
@YoshiF2 agreed….maybe they throw us a bone and have a decent sale during Black Friday or Xmas…..
Wreckfest for Switch is out tomorrow, so will be interesting to see where/if it charts well on Switch. Looking forward to the imminent Nintendolife review to see how this port fairs 😀
Horizon Forbidden Bundle is back to #1
Good, battle league deserves to fail with the lack of effort put into the game. Nintendo fans are finally voting with their money instead of blindly buying every unfinished product Nintendo releases. Hopefully this makes Nintendo realize that people want complete games at launch.
It's a fun game, but the lack of content and almost no single player modes makes it one of those games that you'll get bored of after about 3 hours. Definitely not worth $60 at this point.
I didn’t buy Strikers because Nintendo is in a predictable trend of releasing barebones sports games aimed at online play. No thank you. I got Golf and it was mediocre I am sad to say. Missed opportunity. Glad I stayed away from Tennis, Sports, and Strikers.
@StarPoint The game is now having official bundles.
@BlackGift At least they are adding more content later, and for free, and at least the game at launch is playable, unlike those Ubisoft games where buying at launch is being the beta-tester thanks to so many glitches, but that's still not the Nintendo I knew.
Oh no a drop to 3. Clearly this is an indication of the game’s failure, no other factors could explain this. 🤦♂️
@Jireland92 It was the worst selling Mario sports game on switch on debut week, it also is the worst selling game on switch that features Mario (again on debut week).
Well...
Nintendo needs a wake up call so they will not make an unfinished games then added more contents via update with life service style.
A lot of peoples do not like that business practice.
@kingbk
Oh, thanks for the quick review about those Nintendo sport games.
@blindsquarel I don't think it's a lack of effort on next level games part, I feel Nintendo made them rush to get it out. You can tell just by the animations and gameplay the developers had really good intentions, but I feel Nintendo made them release earlier than what was needed.
I love Mario Strikers Battle League! It’s my favourite Mario sports game. It’s very hectic when there is so much hazard and chaos happening on the field. It’s definitely a step up from other soccer games that I enjoy playing in the past.
@blindsquarel the game and even switch sports are not failures
@Ragdoll72
Yeah I agree, I doubt NLG had much say about this game being released so bare bones.
@YoshiF2 it's not being lazy and Nintendo is doing amazing right now sell this game. And also its not unfinished at all and the gang is a success
@Jireland92 Here's a fun little fact: Mario Super Sluggers is practically the opposite of this game (and by extension all Strikers games) in every way; no online mode, but a lengthy single-player campaign, gigantic roster, varied maps and minigames ie. everything that apparently actually matters in a Mario sports game according to outspoken Internet folks. So surely that translates to it's sales blowing the other sad excuses of relatively "content-less" Strikers games out of the water, right?
Well, actually, there isn't really much of a difference. In fact Sluggers actually sold less than Charged, if only slightly. 2.6 million for Charged isn't bad by any means and more than double of Super, but it's still kind of disappointing when you consider it launching on a much more successful console much earlier in it's life, especially for a game no one really dares speak ill of these days. I don't think Nintendo really expects huge numbers for this game, or really any Mario sports game that isn't Kart. They have always been AA titles at heart.
This just reminds me I need to pick up strikers next month.
Mario Strikers should be dominating considering it's pretty much Mario Kart + FIFA, which are both evergreen titles on the UK top 10. But considering Strikers is a bare bones game, it's not surprising it's not doing too hot.
@Axecon it's doing great numbers like switch sports did last month
@meleehunter you’re forgetting a primordial thing. The popularity of the sport in each region.
Sure, Baseball can be popular in Japan and the US. But it’s obvious that soccer WILL sell more than Baseball worldwide. A soccer game AND a Mario game not selling more than a Lego Game in the UK on second week release is nuts.
So I don’t think it’s a fair comparison between Sluggers and Charged, even if Sluggers had myriads of content.
Yeah i passed on this, didn't hear great things. Hopefully Nintendo add to it.
That Mario Strikers fell below LEGO Star Wars after 1 week is a damning indictment on the game. It is severely limited, and even the base gameplay is underwhelming, or unusually esoteric for a Nintendo game.
@Ragdoll72 It's been just over 2.5 years since Luigi's Mansion 3 so yeah, they didn't have a lot of time to work on this title. Probably Nintendo will have them work on it post-release.
@Ayasplat No it’s not. In Japan in its week of release it sold 32k units.
In comparison to Mario Strikers Battle League, Mario Golf sold over 80k units while Mario Tennis sold 123k units on their release week.
@abdias which means what exactly? Mario Strikers, well Mario sports games in general, don’t sell as well as the mainline titles. And Mario Strikers isn’t as well known as Tennis or Golf so it was naturally going to sell worse than those.
FIFA!!!
** shakes fist **
@Ayasplat I don't know if that's a good comparison and it's only valid in the UK charts. Switch Sports is only selling moderately well. Also Battle League struck lower than expected in the Japanese charts and was a weaker debut in the US charts too.
@meleehunter
If they are AA games they should be priced as such.
@roy130390 There’s no room to properly use the gameplay. And item and hyper strikes are way too luck base for strategy.
@jthompso That's not true. I have the game and there's plenty of room for maneuver even if the field is shorter. Hyper strikes are just 2 points unlike the previous entry and you have to collect the item and be able to make enough time to actually make an unstoppable shot. The only item that I would nerf is the star so that it's effect is lost when you make contact with something once since that can be abused to secure a hyper strike. You can see lots of good strategy and gameplay in the game.
@YoshiF2 switch sports sild 1-2 million globally
@Ayasplat and who is talking about Switch Sports. We are talking about Mario Strikers.
@Axecon switch sports is selling like hot cakes and people say the game is dead and not talked about which is a big fat lie
