Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Making As Many Games As It Used To?

King47

The problem for me with games on Nintendo systems is that if I don't care about one game, that becomes a 6 month drought, not a 3 month drought.

For example, I don't care for Paper Mario or Animal Crossing, so now the last major game I bought was Pokemon.

That being said, I am so busy these days, so it feels less obvious.

Re: Video: The Best Switch Games To Play When You Can't Leave The House

@EarthboundBenjy YouTube is a powerful tool for spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories in times disasters like this. So YouTube is taking strong action to demonetize videos about Covid19 to limit misinformation from spreading. You'll also notice a message under videos that are about Covid19 it vaguely about it.

If you think this is to much worrying, you'll need to look around and see how much misinformation is going around about. And there is a great number of people not taking it seriously.

Re: Poll: Have You Ever Had Problems With Nintendo Hardware?

I know everyone it talking about Joycon drift, but the d pad on the pro controller is pure garage. It's additionally frustrating considering how expensive it is and how little it does. For that price from Nintendo, I at least expect the d pad and controls to be good.

@LUIGITORNADO
As longtime fan of the franchise, I have to agree. Awakening saved the franchise, but it also changed it to what I think is worse.
I wish they would get away from the anime wifu, baby, and grinding and back to hardcore strategy.

Unfortunately, I'll probably end up getting it.

Re: Twitter Reacts In Typically Hilarious Fashion To The Nintendo Labo Unveiling

@NewAdvent not all cardboard is fragile. There are more expensive types of cardboard, like triple walled. It's a much stronger cardboard, though it's not like thick plastic or steel.

Looking at the video, it seems they used the cheaper, double walled cardboard. They may have a legit reason to use it, or just to save on it.
I do share your concerns, I don't see these things having a long lifetime, and they might iterate on it after complains.

We'll just have to see.

Re: Feature: Five Things We Expect from the Animal Crossing Mobile Direct

@Nintendoforlife
You are correct, but I think if they redid Mario they will consider designing it to be more microtransaction friendly.
Things like cool down time, unlocking levels, mushrooms, stars, playable characters...etc.

I'm glad they didn't, but we can't deny that after FE the one time sale will be less likely.

Re: Splatoon 2's First Splatfest To Take Place Before The Game Launches

King47

I would like to participate but I will be in Seattle for vacation. Oh well.

I really liked Splatoon 1, but I got a bit busy and when I got back to it everyone was at higher levels and had better gear, so I felt severely under-powered and stopped playing. So this would've allowed to see if I'll get back into Splatoon or not.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Compares Zelda: Breath Of The Wild And Horizon Zero Dawn

King47

I think both games are great.
I played Zelda first though, and going to Horizon after Zelda is a bit difficult.
When I can't climb a wall or a mountain, I feel restricted.
But both games are masterpieces in their own right, but Zelda is better, except for voice acting.

Though I wish both games (and other open world games) would reduce the size of the maps a bit and increase the diversity of enemies.

Re: Nintendo Switch Patent Provides Insights Into VR Accessory and Console Touchscreen

King47

@gcunit Because the pixels are right in front if your eyes.
With low resolution, you'll see the pixels and it wouldn't be able to put a nice picture.
I have the samsung gear VR, and my phone has a very nice 1440P screen, and I think it's still not perfect. I also used other VR hardware.

And keep in mind that the Switch has a a larger screen with a lower resolution, so the pixel density will be terrible.
The screen is not a problem when used normally, but in VR it's a whole different thing.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains That The Legend of Zelda for Wii U Will Push the Hardware, But That the Series Has Always Been "Open World"

I just want them to have good bosses and puzzles. They haven't had many of those in a long time. Most bosses are way too easy (simple to figure out, require the easy his, have bright eyeballs, and require the weapon from that dungeon...) and the puzzles are way too simple and rehashed (hit an eyeball with arrows, hit diamonds with weapon, step on block...).
Also, no tutorials and no nagging.
Other than that, I'm excited.

@triforcepower73
Wow, take it easy buddy, no need to get offended. Also, lessen the use of the word accuse.
Regardless, yes, his music suffers from being the same. In the anime community many people are getting sick of his uninspired, rehashed music. Just because it worked for AoT and Unicorn and many other shows, doesn't mean he shouldn't mix it up. It's called fatigue by the way.
And he doesn't reuse melodies, he uses the same music.
Soul Link and Ao no Exorcist (which I really like) are the only different ones. Even AnE sounds somewhat similar, but different enough.
If Kondo composed the exact same music for all Zelda games, then the music would get boring after a while. But they mix old and new, Sawano doesn't.
Aldnoah's music isn't even that good. The music feels like it wants to be epic, that doesn't make it good, and being derivative doesn't help. Look at Hisaishi, Kohei Tanaka, Yoshihisa Hirano, among others, for actually good music. They reuse some melodies, but they don't rehash shamelessly. And ACE+, who I only know through Xenoblade, seem to have better production values.

And finally, the music in the trailers sounds absolutely no different than the rest of his music.

Re: More Details Emerge on Xenoblade Chronicles X and Its Non-Linear World

King47

@triforcepower73
I'm not kidding. Sawano isn't that great of a composer. His music loses its novelty pretty quickly. For a game that is huge and long, the music will become annoying fairly quickly. Also, he hasn't composed anything good in years. All of his music sounds exactly the same as AoT music, which isn't all that glamorous of music. Call it fatigue, if you may.
Besides, his music doesn't work very well as BGM, so that wont be fun. The music is by all accounts a step down from the first Xenoblade.
