It's fair to say that many of us were taken by surprise when Nintendo Labo was revealed to an unsuspecting world last night. We were lucky enough to get some hands-on time with Nintendo Labo earlier this week, and it is fantastic fun and brimming with potential. However, it will take a bit of time to win everyone over no doubt.
On the whole, the reaction on Twitter appeared to be overwhelming positive, with many praising the idea. Even better than that were all the comedy photos which were shared. Here are a selection of some of our favourites:

This one's my favourite: https://i.imgur.com/NKKktr8.jpg
As much as I love all the jokes and memes, I actually really like the look of Labo. Very clever and I'd love to try it out for myself!
Joke is on Dan. Nintendo? Online? Lmao, hilarious!
I'll be honest when I first saw the Video I was like "what the hell is this" and was rather underwelmed
But now the dust has settled and I've had time to digest I can actually see it being a pretty cool concept.
It's not something that would interested me personally but I have a 4 & half year old daughter who no doubt will love it as she gets a little older.
Prolly going to buy one, for me and my nephews
1 - Wants to sell peripherals.
2 - Wants to produce them for very cheap.
3 - Have people assemble them and pay 70 bucks.
4 - ???
5 - PROFIT!
Beginners guide on how to look like a prat.
Step 1:
Throw the rest of the steps out the window. Mission accomplished.
I've been pretending to pilot mobile mecha's, and hide as a member of FOXHOUND since I was a child. This is nothing new.
Okies...is it "lay-bo" or "lah-bo" ???
Very excited about it, definitely gonna but and play it! I ‘m 35😝
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I don’t even know if you’re being self aware with that one lol
The one with the cat is totally going to become my biggest problem... I can't even finish opening a box that my cat is already inside... 😂
@NintyNate I assume "Labo" is pronounced like the first part of "Laboratory" (Though some say "lab-rah-tory").
i hoped for a VR first person splatoon experience (in 8k of course) and now we got this...
@Henbush Oh my! lol
So, Labo is what Nintendo brain stormed at their last board meeting then, huh.
It's the physical mechanics of this that's stunned me. It's not just some card board mount and the game can be played without (though I'm sure some will try) .
I love arbys ads
Amazed no one has picked up the fact Nintendo are releasing an app that allows you to turn the rumble function on the joycons by pressing the screen.
No good can come of this.
@MrGawain You can already do this via the “find controller” function in settings.
@NewAdvent not all cardboard is fragile. There are more expensive types of cardboard, like triple walled. It's a much stronger cardboard, though it's not like thick plastic or steel.
Looking at the video, it seems they used the cheaper, double walled cardboard. They may have a legit reason to use it, or just to save on it.
I do share your concerns, I don't see these things having a long lifetime, and they might iterate on it after complains.
We'll just have to see.
@NintyNate lah-bo
@dizzy_boy What better product to come out of a kids-related Nintendo Board meeting, than cardboard?XD
@NewAdvent I'm here to solve your woes; the cardboard kits are actually provided for free.
You can get them for free from Nintendo and can even print them out yourself at home if you have the gear for it.
@smashbrolink
Yay.... !
So that means i can print them on any cardboxes that i have anytime i want ?
@smashbrolink @Anti-Matter Nope, don't spread fake news. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/305335261443784714/403497981543710720/image.png?width=901&height=676
Aside from that, there probably are going to be some designs from users who copied Nintendo's design.
@Saego
I didn't spread fake news about that.
I just only asked about cardboxes printing.
lol
Can't wait for the improved memes once this actually releases
@Saego It's not fake news. If you have the games/packages, and something gets broken or damaged, you most definitely CAN download the patterns for free (to make new builds to go with your games):

Myriam Scuttlebutt comes to mind
@ThanosReXXX Read the marked sentence in my photo. IGN France made a mistake.
Oh of course the internet ran away with this. I'm sure Nintendo expected it to happen too.
What's this about Labo?
@Saego I see Nintendo Life only now updated that, so I stand corrected. But normally, I would take a lot of what's posted on Reddit with a grain of salt.
I'm pretty disappointed with the price. Minus tax, you are paying 59.99 for either game, and then 10.00 for the variety pack and 20.00 for the robot back in the US.
At first I wanted to be mad about the price of the cardboard, but when I really thought about it it isn't really that bad. You get the cardboard plus what looks to be "string" and or rubberbands. Never mind, I don't like those prices that much after typing it out.
But the prices for the the games seems a little absurd to me. How much content is actually going to be in each game. The robot kit essentially costs the same as Mario Odyssey for the game cart alone. Is it going to have anywhere near the content as Mario? I highly doubt it.
EDIT:This actually would be an easy free pack it for the switch if you think about it. Make the bock a few centimeters deeper for a couple of sheets and have an app with a couple of gadgets pre-loaded.
@NewAdvent would be a concern if 1. They have all ready said they'll share the plans online for free, so replacements/repairs will be easy enough
2. The few people I know with bigger 3D printers are already drawing up plans for plastic versions. (Though how effective they'll be is a different matter).
Personally, and I repeat "personally" (and I freely admit I'm rather quirky) I like the idea that there might be a game/system that encourages my girls to not just take care of their stuff (would be a nice change of pace) but also to maintain and repair it.
@NintyNate It's Japanese - Rah Bo.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Um... Yes, mocking kids that are having imaginative fun makes that person "look like a prat", but I'm surprised you are inviting that kind of response.
@aaronsullivan I'm not having a go at the kid in the photo. I'm mocking the getup.
Why do I feel like Labo was conceived when that boy that wanted a Switch so bad created one out of cardboard? Do I smell a stunt? Or did Nintendo literally get the idea from that? It makes you wonder sometimes how things work out in the world.....
Contrary to popular belief, Nintendo's internet fanbase is not all children. Children would be excited for this.
@NewAdvent Nintendo has come out saying replacement cardboard will be available for cheap. Basically any new game already cost $60. These will go on sale, you should be able to use Best Buy GCU anytime or Amazon Prime on a preorder to get 20% off new pricing. If you enjoy building or tinkering, or even just want to play Project Giant Robot (with or without cardboard) then this is for you.
I was somewhat against this yesterday but it's growing on me. Will likely grab one or both sets "for my kids" at launch
@MeloMan Maybe he was their design consultant...
Available for pre-order from Best Buy. If you've got Gamers Club unlocked it's 20% off!!
Hilarious twitter reactions never fail to bore me.
Nintendo's new voice chat system: https://goo.gl/images/36CrDU
Nintendo = the butt of online jokes.
Way to go big N, you wrapped up 2017 nicely, then followed it up like a pile of wet cardboard.
@dizzy_boy Last CARDboard meeting!
@smashbrolink and @daniruy how long do you think it wil be before we get board of these jokes?
I mean, I won't lie - a large part of me is happy that they're bring back the Apple Lisa as a Switch Peripheral.
@SegaBlueSky
@dizzy_boy I don't know. Nintendo has LABOriouslly talked about those. I think gamers are going to be onboard for this.
Lol, inspired by the Japanese kids who made cardboard-versions of the Switch. Oh, and don't forget that you could buy the "Switch+Splatoon 2 bundle box" in Japan...yeah, just the box!
@NintyNate Lab-Oh.
