When you can't go outside what should you do? Play video games, of course! Our lovely senior video producer Alex Olney has been indoors a little more regularly than usual as of late, and to help pass the time he's decided to put together a video of the best Nintendo Switch games to play in this situation.
Games like ARMS, Fitness Boxing and Ring Fit Adventure will give you plenty of exercise, Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows you to escape from the harsh realities, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a great pick, simply because of how long it takes to complete the game and then there's the very social The Jackbox Party Pack.

If you're looking for something with exploration in it, how about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition? Then there are various other games like Super Mario Party, Two Point Hospital and Overcooked - another experience best with friends. And to finish off the list, we have Untitled Goose Game.
So, there you go - if you're bunkering down indoors for a prolonged period of time, these are some of the games that will keep you entertained, help get your mind off things, provide a healthy dose of interaction and various other lifestyle and wellbeing benefits. What did you think of this list? Would you add anything else to it? Leave a comment down below.

Shout out to BoTW this game should take plenty of time to waste away.
I'm really into the Witcher 3, right now
Animal Crossing - the game in which you are constantly in debt and behind on payments - the game that lets you escape the harsh reality...
Right.
I think you guys forgot Pokemon
Currently binging on: Shensaki Into The Depths.
It far surpassed my expectations. It’s basically my 2D exploration with some combat BioShock’s little brother. I can’t help but look at myself as a miniature Big Daddy while playing.
ARMS is amazing for exercise, Nintendo has the best fitness games ever made.
Botw and animal crossing are perfect, although im only playing animal crossing now. Final fantasy 7 is proving to be fun too when locked in your home.
It's funny though, animal crossing is really bringing back vibes from the first time I played botw. They're very similar but different, if that even makes sense. Youre just plopped in a land, and told to do what you will at your own pace. They're both so addictive!
Honest question: Why are YouTubers so reluctant to mention COVID19? Why would YouTube want to deincentivise people from communicating about something that is currently big and important to everybody's safety?
@EarthboundBenjy YouTube is a powerful tool for spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories in times disasters like this. So YouTube is taking strong action to demonetize videos about Covid19 to limit misinformation from spreading. You'll also notice a message under videos that are about Covid19 it vaguely about it.
If you think this is to much worrying, you'll need to look around and see how much misinformation is going around about. And there is a great number of people not taking it seriously.
Or just a out any of the couple thousand games on switch.
Really happy AC:NH released right at the time things were getting bad. I'm stuck at home here in South Florida and all I've been doing the past fews days is putting crazy hours into that game.
@King47
Makes sense. Thanks.
I could play Splatoon 2 for 24 hours without it getting old.
Im replaying the hell out of all the doom ports and dark souls while my doom eternal copy arrives.
@NerdyBoutKirby I made it about 200 before it got old.
@Trajan I meant 24 hours straight. I've logged 700 in three years.
I'm actually playing Skyrim right now, which will hopefully help me pass the time for my two week quarantine that just started earlier today.
Not saying I have the you-know-what, but a recent bout of dry coughing and shortness of breath had my doctor put me under it as a precautionary measure.
Eherm... OCTOPATH TRAVELER?
Why wouldn't I be able to leave? I'm still shocked at the whole social distancing thing; get tf out there and build up your immunity. Most people already came in contact with the virus months ago and didn't even know it, stop destroying your economy by not working and staying home. If you all hole up, and the virus is lying in wait, wtf do you think will happen when they lift the quarantine and you get out there and start spreading it? We don't shut down for the flu, and that's worse.
The insanity going on right now...
Divinity Origin of Sin 2 is perfect to play to pass the time.
Breath of the Wild is the best because it allows you to go out and explore a beautiful, sunny world, which is precisely what you're not allowed to do these days in real life.
It haven't rained for weeks.
@GoblinKing86 Because leaving your home for nonessential reasons will spread the contagion and infect more vulnerable people. This will in turn overwhelm hospitals and health providers and when Intensive Care wards fill up, doctors have to choose who lives and who dies. Also, while younger healthier people stand less chance of experiencing severe symtoms there are still very healthy young people needing to go on respirators and some of those people are dying. Flu (the common flu rather than a strain such as SARS) kills about 8k people a year in the UK. UK authorites now predict that 20k Corvid-19 deaths this year would be a good result. So yeah, stay home and read a book.
Well, the best games for this purpose are SNES and N64 games. With those consoles and all the cables and HDTV converters required to play, there's very little option to even leave the home
I'd love to get Ring Fit... It's easier to find Unicorn Droppings though..
@GoblinKing86 Because the imperial college in London did a study, if people do as you suggest up to HALF A MILLION PEOPLE COULD DIE... If we do what we are doing , it could restrict the deaths to 20 thousand. Yes when restrictions lift it will resurface, but it won't all be in one massive spike of cases which would swamp the NHS and lead to many many many more deaths that could be avoided. So it's not insane it's common sense.
6 best games for happy Corona days: BOTW, Witcher 3, DQ11, 3 Houses, Xenoblade chronicles 2, and Skyrim
Honorable mentions: MUA 3, any fighting game that takes you a while to get tired of (suggestions: Smash Ultimate, MK11, DB Xenoverse 2, DB fighterz, and maybe Arms), Hollow Knight, the South Park games, online games that you don't mind playing a lot (suggestions: Splatoon 2, Doom, Saints Row: the third, Cuphead, NBA 2k, NBA playgrounds 1/2, Overwatch, Paladins, Fortnite, Dauntless, Rocket League), Super Mario Odyssey, La Noire, Darksiders, Wolfenstein 2, Pokemon: Sword and Shield, Bayonetta 1/2, Astral chain, Transistor, Project Octopath traveler, and though not my cup of tea, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Two games I would add:
Senran Kagura reflexions. Probally my most played Switch game.
Dead or alive xtreme 3. Lots of replayability and my favorite sports game.
Dead Cells,Bloodstained and Hollow Knight are great. Been grinding dead cells this time
@Liam_Doolan Great list, thanks.
Time to reissue some Labo Kits! An idea ahead of its time.
Dragons Dogma Switch
@SuperJoeUK “common sense “to you ,it may not be to others ...
