Re: Famous Footballers Think EA Could Be Illegally Profiting From Their Names And Likenesses In FIFA

JimmySpades

I have no problem with players seeking a larger portion of the pie, because they're who I pay to watch, after all, but jeebus what idiots they are for signing multi-million [unit of currency] contracts and not knowing the fine print. I guarantee that whatever clauses allow teams to sell Ibra and Bale jerseys also cover appearances in FIFA. I can just imagine Bale talking to his agent:

"Why am I not getting paid for this?"
"You are, dumba$$."

Re: EA Ignores Nintendo Fans Yet Again As FIFA 21 David Beckham Freebie Skips Switch

This news baffles me. I don't get upset when businesses make business decisions, but I don't think that's what's going on here. I don't understand EA's continued dismissal of the Switch audience, and if I were a major stockholder you can be certain that the board would be providing answers to my questions. There wasn't money to be made on the Wii U, so when the unprecedented partnership never materialized, I was neither confused nor offended. There's money to be made on the Switch.

@Shambo He's not in the game because he hasn't played in seven years. He's become one of those legends of the game sorts, remembered for such feats as having such a devastating free kick that they named a movie after it, and getting sent off against Argentina. Including him is like including Charles Barkley in NBA 2K, or A Rod in MLB The Show, or a famous hockey player in a hockey game--which should give you some idea just how much of a 🍆 move it is to include him in most versions of the game, but not all.

Re: Physicality Games Cancels Its Exclusive Pre-Orders For Switch, Will Refund All Customers

@Creature I see that you have joined the NL staff in being unable to distinguish between fan sites/material and news sites/journalism. They wish to have all the rights and respect accorded to journalists but none of the responsibility.
Sometimes they highlight game releases not to inform a readership they know will be interested, but just to mock them. They publish hot takes they know will generate clicks. They maintain a confrontational tone in comment threads when it suits them, as apparently it suited @Damo today. This isn't a one-off criticism; it's a reaction to consistent and persistent behavior.

Re: No More Heroes 1 And 2 Are Both Available Now On Switch In Uncensored Form

JimmySpades

@Darlinfan I was not reading the comment literally, nor was I responding to it as though it were meant to be taken as such. If you believe that I had, you are mistaken, and if you understand that I did not and are arguing as you are anyway, then you are intentionally being sophistic, and your argument is best rejected.

Now, do you wish to respond to what I was actually saying, instead of attempting to deceive me via pragmatics, a subject I study for fun?

Re: No More Heroes 1 & 2 Are Both Available Now On Switch

JimmySpades

@SwitchForce Actually, it could have been said better:

"We need a physical release. Well, we'd like a physical release. We don't really /need/ one. In fact, the whole debate of physical vs. digital is an absurd, inherently first world problem that quite frankly is disregarded by anybody acting remotely rationally."

That's better.

Re: My Time At Portia Sequel Reaches 100K Kickstarter Goal In Less Than 24 Hours

@Silly_G @LavaTwilight Being successful means that they recouped development costs, not that they earned enough beyond that to fund the next project. That would constitute being wildly successful, and it's quite rare for a debut indie game to do that well. Not only am I not surprised that they're returning to the source of funding they used for the first game, but I would have been surprised had they not needed to.

@Ooyah Yes. It's designed as a thank you to acknowledge support beyond what's necessary to fund the game. It's not a feature they would like to include but might have to cut for lack of money.

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Wii Games

JimmySpades

@erv Yeah, this format is more trouble than it's worth. And a waste, quite frankly, because of all the consoles I'm familiar with, the Wii's hidden gems are both the most hidden and the brightest gems, and gamers would be better served with them being highlighted, instead of yet another Best Of list.

Of course, if recent NintendoLife output is any indication, they're not the ones to do it, because the latest Best Switch Games You've Never Heard Of video is just Alex pointing out some good games everybody has heard of. There's no indication that whoever compiled the list put in any effort.

Re: Rodea The Sky Soldier Is Being Removed From The Wii U And 3DS eShops In Japan

JimmySpades

@Kalmaro The game isn't vanishing; it's going out of print. It happens to physical media all the time, just without the hyperbole that accompanies the delisting of digital media. The copies that people already own will remain playable, so long as they follow these steps, which admittedly are essential:

1. Don't delete the game.

It's the same advice I'd give to somebody who wants to keep playing a physical copy they own--don't pitch your game in the garbage and you'll be fine.

Cloudpunk and Shantae for me, Röki if it reviews well. I'll work on convincing my brother to get Mario Kart for his family, but I live alone in a tiny, cluttered, carpeted apartment, so I'm just going to put the money I would have spent on it in the eShop instead.
