@Elvie @Yosher @ThanosReXXX @nessisonett I would expect a more enthusiastic recommendation for Grave of the Fireflies, considering that it is obviously Ghibli's finest work (and Takahata wasn't a ðł¢{ so you can feel proud to support him), is probably the finest animated feature, and might very well be the finest war film ever made, animated or otherwise. So yeah, it's worth watching.
@Kalmaro This. The Switch can handle this, but as I&F pointed out (just skimmed the article so not sure if it was quoted) they are a team of 25, and it would take resources that they don't have to make that happen. It's a perfectly valid reason that, being perfectly valid, I wish more third parties, especially AAA studios and publishers, would use when they try to explain Switch omissions. The Switch can do more than people give it credit for, but if it would take more time to achieve than is reasonable for a single project and more money than they can expect to recoup, not pursuing it is the correct decision, and I wish they'd just say so.
@shazbot Yeah, it takes real courage to advocate spending as little money as possible and thinking only about oneself while doing so. So few people act that way.
@sixrings Already being HD is a big part of it, I assume. I can imagine (and this is all that this is) that porting earlier games would require resources close to those of developing original games, where porting HD games requires less. But you're right, those are some great libraries featuring some fantastic games, and having them easily available with improved production values would be wonderful.
@Agramonte Another thing that you can't make up is that there are people out there who own multiple systems and don't even use their Switch as their primary one, yet somehow think that Nintendo needs to provide a new AAA first party title every month; who will argue in one breath that Animal Crossing doesn't count because it doesn't interest them, and then in the next breath proclaim that The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima prove that the PS4 gives everybody great games, with no thought that others might share the same disinterest, just in other games; who proclaim that next gen pays for itself using voodoo financial arguments that even Republicans in the 80s world have rejected; and who spend time at fans sites for something they're not a fan of. It's this last one which pushes those people from merely ridiculous to utterly absurd. I hope you have a good fortune to never come across anybody like this, for whom "troll" is too benign a term, and who take the zeal of new conversion to occasionally toxic extremes.
@ricklongo @retro_player_77 I too was instantly reminded of Chronicles of Teddy, a game that I love and that I had the same question about when it released on Wii U that @Fazermint has now. The only reason I can think of is that gamers don't actually appreciate quality pixel art, or even understand that it's a legitimate style. They only appreciate the nostalgia it invokes, and think about it only for how it relates to the games of the day.
I see a handful of people have mentioned Elliot Quest. I know the name but little else. I'll check it out, lest I show the same baffling ignorance I'm lamenting.
@Agriculture So they are obligated to work to earn the privilege of your custom, but they are not entitled to reasonable remuneration in return. Odd that one would take such pride in contributing to an unhealthy market.
@Discostew I looked it up on eBay earlier because I was curious. A Wii U is going for about $180, Pikmin for $20-$25. That's $200 to play the game on that system, for those making honest comparisons. Throw in now being on a system that people are willing to spend money on, and there is no argument that it should be $20 apart from gamer entitlement.
Always down for a good card game, so I'll have to look into this more. That said, if this website's patrons are any indication this won't have much of a market. Card games are the original procedural generation, and we all know what lazy, inferior game design that is...
@Agramonte It costs more than $200 to play it on Wii U. That means it would be a 70% discount to play it on the Switch. Sounds like the sort of sound financial decision you'd approve of.
@HalBailman There's no such thing as the wrong reason for playing a game. There are, however, wrong reasons for commenting, and among them is trying to prove one's self more proper than and superior to others, a ridiculous action made more ridiculous when it is based on a fallacy such as the existence of wrong reasons for playing a game.
@Yorumi You have completely mistaken the target of @bluemage1989 's derision. Not surprising. One way people gatekeep is by turning their own actions into accusations of others; they try to twist defending difficulty options into an attack on difficulty, hoping that their bad faith attempt at argument will prove impossible to respond to in good faith (and when it is, they'll move the goal posts in another bad faith move). It's similar to trying to spin support for BLM into an attack on white people. Blue Mage was not attacking people who enjoy difficulty, but people who believe that's all people should enjoy. Not people who get good, but people who won't stop saying "git gud". Those people are full of [redacted], and rightly derided; and if you do not perceive that difference, your argument is right rejected.
@Wilforce First of all, we'll leave to the side the question of whether what Yorumi said is true or not. But the conditions in which he said it aren't brave in the least. An anonymous name with an anonymous avatar that can suffer no real consequences, and no consequences of any kind other than being banned at a fan site, needs no bravery to say anything.
And then there's your absurdity that nobody wants to hear it. Gamers are conservative to the point of being reactionary. They are very vocal about what they believe, and not only do they not listen to anything else, they shout it down and drown it out. They are not cowering in fear of the consequences of speaking up; they are not persecuted for honest beliefs, no matter how many narratives they spin that they are, or how often they repeat them. Yorumi is not speaking truth to power, he is preaching to the choir, and there is nothing brave about that.
@Losermagnet Hamburgers actually are from a burg--specifically Hamburg, the north German city. The etymology of the name is exactly the same as frankfurter from Frankfurt and wiener from Vienna, which is Wien in German.
Got mine pre-ordered. It's worth it to me just for the new lease on life it will give my GBA collection. I can't wait to play Golden Sun, but on a nice big screen with nice loud music on my nice comfy couch. And old school Fire Emblem. And three outstanding Castlevania games. (Well, two outstanding and one very good.) And Gunstar. And the wildly underrated Racing Gears. And...
My initial impression, based on the trailer I watched, is that using the Soulflame to perform actions like jumping essentially turns into pausing the game; it doesn't look like it has the flow necessary for a quality platformer. But perhaps the trailer was exaggerated to convey the gameplay. I'll wait for more in depth analysis before deciding.
@Kalmaro Well, it might not be clickbait of the level of every Brie Larson article that NintendoLife has published, but it's not news, and the fact that @Damo is protesting too much means that it is, in fact, clickbait, and not something that a normal site would merely label "human interest". Of course a normal site would simply produce news instead of the news-style information product that they produce here...
@Spideron What made you think that Agramonte offended me? Yes, his constantly displaying financial ignorance in the name of spinning an anti-Switch narrative has grown quite wearisome, but I was hardly offended. As to making sense, I use precise syntax when it is important to what I wish to say; I can assure you that it is quite parsable, to those who wish to understand. If he does not it is because he chooses not to.
@Agramonte Your reasoning is flawed again. But I'm feeling generous. I won't tell anyone who doesn't already understand why why; you may have your anti-Nintendo obsession, and if your narrative misleads anyone.
@nicols I have Golf Club 2 on PS4, which I see (which really means I looked it up on Wikipedia because I was curious) was the last title before 2K took over the series, so if they've made the control more forgiving I'd be much more willing to give it a chance. And more importantly, more willing to pay to give it a chance. But if I want to get pissed off by my swing I'll just play for real.
If they keep the control scheme they've used in their previous games, which I presume they will, then no, I won't be picking it up. It requires too precision in the analog stick. The courses look cool, though.
I can tell how successful the developers were at what they were going for by how much I loathe the idea of playing their game. I hate the cartoon style of the period and despise the musical style, and the fact that that carries over to Cuphead means that they absolutely nailed it. Well done, Cuphead developers. Well done.
@Gridatttack It's pricey, yes, but it will be worth it to me to have my GBA collection playable on the TV. It's almost worth it just for the three Castlevanias, two Fire Emblems, two Golden Suns, and two Metroids.

@Agramonte I'm impressed by your ability to completely miss @Rodan2000 's point. I'm also guessing that you also have no idea what truly makes Crysis or Luigi's Mansion, or any other game for that matter, look so good. And when you say that the PS4 is $250, that simply isn't true, and I have no doubt that you know it isn't true and are insisting upon saying it anyway. Why you insist upon what you know isn't true I have yet fathom a reason for.
It was exactly what they said it would be, which is why I'm sure most people here will say it was the worst, most disappointing presentation ever. [makes popcorn]
