Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Takes Nine Of Top Ten As The Last Of Us 2 Topples Animal Crossing

@Paraka I almost bought TLOU2 tonight. But I figured I'll be able to get it used on eBay for twenty bucks if I just wait a few months, so there's no reason to get it at full price right now. Besides, I'm playing Deadly Premonition which is awesome and I have no intention of abandoning, the sequel to that will be here soon, and I still have Pathologic 2 waiting for me which, let's be honest, is far more compelling in the gameplay it promises than anything else that has been released on PS4 this year.

@shazbot It's possible, although with Smash sitting at more than 3.7M copies sold and Animal Crossing likely to have a higher attach rate anyway I suspect most of the copies sold were come by honestly. Besides, if you own it digitally you can download copies to every Switch you own and have registered; if I had kids I'd tell them to suck it up, I'm not paying an extra sixty dollars, they can play on my island and they'll like it.

Also, no. The Xbox has never sold in Japan. It's honestly more surprising that on at least one day last week they sold at least five consoles.

@RunninBlue Personal testimony is evidence, which I was taught by multiple stints on a jury, and have had confirmed by my brother, member of the Indiana Bar in good standing. Saying there's no proof is simply a bad faith attempt to subvert debate to make supporting accusations impossible. Every time you claim to be an objective outsider you support Pitchford and his bad acts, whether you realize that or not.

Re: Here Are The Seven EA Games Reportedly Coming To Switch In The Next Year

@TheLightSpirit @FredsBodyDouble Your judgment is worse than what you claim this set of games is. Whatever you think about EA's AAA efforts, their Originals program has been beneficial, fantastic even, to indie gaming, and Zoink, both with Fe as part of that program and with their other games, has proven themselves to be a quality studio. Lost in Random might not appeal to you, which is fine, but such arrogance and dismissiveness are being, being neither warranted nor justified in any way.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Roguelikes, Roguelites And Run-Based Games

@nessisonett Switch doesn't need an achievement system. Granted, they can serve as a convenient bookkeeping tool to keep track of tasks, but they serve no real purpose beyond that, and any game which they will help can include them as part of their own design. No need to mandate that games that don't want them or wouldn't be served by them have them.

@Yas Two things about that. One, reselling will be trivial once governments mandate that it be available, to preserve the resale rights of fully digital goods. The process will be the same as buying digitally in the first place, and its current lack is the law lagging behind, not any fundamental difference in the products. Two, the people most vocal about having physical are the least likely to actually use those resale rights, rendering the difference entirely moot.

@retro_player_77 I'm glad somebody else knows about Finding Teddy 2. I think it's a fantastic game, and while I understand that some quality will slip through the cracks simply be of how large the Switch library is, I still can't believe that a game like it was as ignored as it was when it was released for the wasteland that was the Wii U. Wii U owners were so starved for content for so long that I can think of no reason why they wouldn't jump at the chance when something worthwhile came their way. Perhaps they'd given up on the system entirely and anything would have been sent out to die.

@OorWullie I donated to the Kickstarter, so by the time I got my copy I had waited for the game to be developed, and then waited for the game to be ported to the Switch, and then waited for them to send out codes to the backers, by which point not only had I been waiting so long that it wasn't the shiny new game I had to play immediately, but my Switch backlog had grown quite large and held a number of games that were shiny and new and called to me to play immediately. (Many of them lose those qualities before I can get to them. The Switch library truly is a double-edged sword.) But now it's getting to the point where the game is old and I feel I've waited long enough, which is a better feeling than when I look at a game as old and accept that I'll never get around to it. (The Switch library truly is a double-edged sword.)
