Re: Nintendo Switch v4.0.0 Update Brought Surprise GameCube Controller Adapter Support

Works as advertised. It works pretty well with Mario Kart 7. Doesn't have enough buttons for Breath of the Wild though. The GCN's awful D-Pad keeps if from being a good choice for any 2D game like Sonic Mania or Blaster Master however.

I suspect I might use it a lot with Mario Odyssey however. I checked the buttons at the Gamestop kiosk, and the only missing button is R3 for first person mode.

Re: '90s Super GP Will Be Power Sliding On To Switch Soon

Some of you guys should actually look into the situation with this game. The developer (one, or two people at most) completed the game, then inked a deal with Nicalis for distribution. Then Nicalis just sat on it. And apparently that's something Nicalis does, buys distribution of small games, then does nothing with it for ages. Last I heard (on the Super Best Friends podcast, Matt knows the game's creator) the creators were trying to get the game back from Nicalis's clutches.

Re: Samurai Shodown Is Next Week’s New ACA Neo Geo Title

To be honest, these first outings are some of the weakest of these storied franchises. Switch already has Samurai Shodown IV, one of the strongest of the franchise, so its hard to get excited about the original. Other then being of historical note. I'd much rather see stuff like Samurai Shodown V Special get the focus.

Re: Video: The Most Memorable Issues of Nintendo Power

My first Nintendo Power issue was 20 (Jan 91), with Mega Man III on the cover. That issue was probably a lot of people's 'first' as I think it was the free issue you got for registering your NES. And tempt you to subscribe to Nintendo Power. My first subscriber issue was 31 (December 91) which was a pretty cool issue with Metroid II as the main feature. And of course next issue was Jan 1992 and we were off to the races. I was a subscriber consistently until about.... mid 2001? Around when the GBA premiered. Its pretty crazy that I subbed for almost 10 whole years. Damn.

For those interested in Rogue Trooper the comic you want to start with Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu-Earth 01 a phonebook sized tomb of Rogue, Bagman, Helm, and Gunner's earliest adventures.

A DRM-Free digital version of the book can be found on the 2000 AD app for iOS and Android. As well as the 2000 AD homepage as well.

Rogue Trooper rules.

Re: Video: The Most Memorable Issues of Nintendo Power

Disapointing list. The best issue of Nintendo Power, for my money, is January 1992 #32. 1992 was the year of the Super Nintendo and NP kicked itself up about 200 notches to really push the system. Issue 32 was when the comic selection in NP took a huge jump, with Super Mario Adventures and Zelda a Link to the Past (by the legendary Shotaro Ishinomori) joining Nester's Adventures. The overall format change of the title would remain mostly consistent until about 1995. With further Star Fox, Metroid, and various Mario one-shot comics running.

Your list also lacks some of the coolest issues, like the massive January 1993 issue with that great Mickey Mouse cover, and tons of extra inserts (like a cardboard Arwing Model kit!), the golden Link's Awakening issue for issue 50 (July 1993), and that amazing Subscribers Only January 1994 brushed metal Mega Man X cover. What I'm saying is, a top 10 list that lacks any issues from 1992 - 1994 is no top list at all! And anything from after Future took over... ugg. Though the final issue was a nice throwback for what it was worth.

Re: Review: The King of Fighters '98 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

Jim_Purcell

The biggest issue with this nice Arcade accurate release, is that 98 has been tweaked and updated twice since it's Arcade days. Ultimate Match Final's balance tweaks are sorely missed in this version. It's complely understandable that this isn't UMF, it's just too bad it couldn't be.

Also I really hope we see some latter Neo Geo titles, we never got Garou on Wii. And the recent PC port is very problematic. Which stinks as it's one of the greatest fighting games ever made.

Also also, Switch analog sticks are really really bad for dash/run inputs which makes them pretty useless in 2player mode. Very disappointing. This should be fine Ultra SF2 as there is no dashing in SF2, not so much for SNK fighters.

Re: Review: Super Bomberman R (Switch)

Jim_Purcell

If this was a $20 digital launch game, it would be essential. At $50, both this and 1-2 Switch are making early days of the Switch ROUGH.

Thank goodness Master Blaster Zero is only going to be $10 next week. DAMN. I was expecting $15 minimum. Sunsoft gets it.
