For those of us that grew up in the golden era of point-and-click games on the PC, games like Thimbleweed Park are hard to resist. The good news is that we don't need to wait much longer to play it on the Switch, with confirmation it'll arrive on the eShop on 21st September; it'll cost $19.99USD, which will probably be the same in Euros.
Produced by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, it has all the humour and quirkiness you'd expect from the old LucasArts days. On Switch it'll also support both physical and touch controls, so will be accessible for everyone.
Check out the trailer below.
Amusingly, there's also a quiz to help you decide if it's the game for you.
- Do you still feel guilty about microwaving a hamster in Maniac Mansion?
- Would you know what to say if someone suggested that you fight like a dairy farmer?
- Do you have no idea what those last two questions are about, but love stuff like Twin Peaks, the X-Files, Stranger Things, jokes, puzzles, and vacuum tubes?
So, what would you say if someone suggest that you fight like a dairy farmer?

How appropriate, you fight like a cow.
This looks great!
I don't get the appeal of point and click games. But many people seem to dig them so it's nice to see good ones find their way to the Switch.
Huzzah! I didn't back this back then, but I'm really happy it got made, that it gets such great reviews, and that it's coming out on Switch.
I'm an old time fan of Ron Gilbert, and from what people are saying his writing and puzzle designs are as ace as ever.
Any word on how much it will cost?
Looks like another purchase for me this week. Assuming it's not crazy expensive.
@HeroOfCybertron I shall ask.
Did I miss the Direct? Tons of great news coming out!!
After he quoted X Files it became a day one buy for me.
Hooray for quirkiness and a decent story!
@ThomasBW84 Thanks.
This looks fantastic! Really glad it's releasing soon.
@HeroOfCybertron Got given a US price, $19.99. Probably the same in Euros, maybe £17.99 as a guess in the UK.
remind me of Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers GBC ... one of my ,most fav games of all time <3
I'm getting this !
@TossedLlama How appropriate, you fight like a cow!
Is it weird that, outside of Mario Odyssey, this is my Switch game of the year? Man, what I wouldn't give for Switch to get the entire Monkey Island series, Full Throttle, The Adventures of Willy Beamish (this was a Crystal Dynamics game, and not very likely to ever see a rerelease), and Fate of Atlantis/Last Crusade! Point and click is one of my favorite genres, and this game looks awesome!
I am so looking forward to playing this!
I prioritize physical games, but for this I make my first exception. I need to play it on Switch as soon as possible, but I will double dip if it comes to retail afterwards.
If you're still not convinced, check out this new interview with Ron Gilbert:

Love point and click games, although... there's something that makes me hesitate about this game, though I've heard good things about it. Am I the only one that misses more like, 1st person, serious tone, mysterious, suspense, thriller, type point and click games? I guess I just remember ones like Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited, and even 3rd person point and click Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None that tickle my fancy the most. I hope we get more of those on Switch as all I've heard even slightly close is Siberia II...
It's a great game but for an adventure game revival I would probably pick Broken Age over this one, though this game is still better than the TellTale efforts in my opinion
@ThomasBW84 Hmm the same price as SteamWorld Dig 2. Thanks Thomas for finding out the price.
Please feel free to visit the library and read the book "You play like a cow!"...
Day 1.
Finally 2017’s Game of the Year** is on the 2017 Console of the Year. It's a good day.
** Yes.
I will be picking this up
Insta Buy. I grew up on King's Quest and Monkey Island. Adventure games forever!
@Shiryu
Man: I won't take your insolence sitting down!
Guybrush: Oh, hemorrhoids flaring up again, eh?
Orson Scott Card (of Ender's Game) wrote those comebacks too, just a fun fact XD
Someone else would like to see SCUMM's classics coming to Switch? The Dig, Full Throttle, Maniac Mansion, Day of the tentacle, Loom, Monkey's Island, and so many others, YESSSSS!!!
