As sweet as the tears of Xbone and PS4 players are, I think the best way to describe their reaction is that they don't want to watch a game they want, fail. Because they perceive the Wii U as a failed console. So if Bayo is exclusive to Wii U, it can't possibly succeed and there won't ever be a Bayo 3 anywhere.
I'm going to take a wild guess and say it was simply more practical to ship New 3DS's to Australia in time for the holidays then it was for any other region.
This is pretty obvious to anyone who understands the technical limitations of the 3DS compared to home consoles.
I'll bet you dollars to donuts that this is the same reason previously transforming characters are stand alone characters and don't transform. All those characters have to be stored in game memory during gameplay.
After reading this article I popped in a copy of Dynasty Warriors 4 (PS2) I had randmly picked up when Gamestop was unloading all their PS2 titles. I'd never bothered playing it, or any DW game for that matter. I didn't play much, just the first mission. And it was kind of interesting? But I totally can see it getting repetitive quick. That said I'm going to at least sink a few more hours into it. One thing though..... are there no Camera Controls? Turning around and not getting hit by unseen enemies seems to be a problem.
I'm on the fence about this game. I'm not a big fan of One Piece (though I do read it regularly in the pages of Week Shonen Jump). But to hear that this is one of the better One Piece games.
But then I find out there's no Stereoscopic 3D.... Ugg.
This game was teased in the early promotional material before N64 was released (back when its was the ULTRA 64!). I was quite intrigued by it at the time. And then YEARS passed until it finally found its way to the system pretty late in the N64's lifespan. I actually never got around to picking it up until AFTER the N64's lifespan when it was on clearance racks at KB Toys.
I still have my copy, though I have not played in 10+ years. I remember it being okay, if rather graphically underwhelming, it definitely LOOKS like a first year release N64 release title. Which isn't shocking, since it was suppose to be.
@ZenTurtle I went through a weird phase where I also thought the N64 graphics kinda looked like dog turds. Primarily due to how it compressed textures. For a while there I was preferring the graphics of the PS1 over it (those lush uncompressed blocky pixels drool) even though the N64 had superior geometry and was capable of far larger environments.
But then something happened, I started playing more N64 games again. And suddenly it didn't look quite as bad as I had been telling myself it had been. Maybe because I was using my smaller CRT TV over a larger one I had been using? Either way its actually not aged as badly as I thought it had. And the gameplay of all the classics are as solid as ever.
@AshFoxX how is it remotely worth holding it like that. Especially if you acknowledge it cramps your hands. There is basicly no game that requires the use of 'all buttons' on the N64 controller at one time. The L and Z buttons are interchangeable by design.
I've never had a problem with the N64 controler design, and actually have always felt it was elegant in its functionality. They way the Z Button rests under your trigger finger for example is something that's never been replicated as well else where. Controller is still a dream to hold. But the GCN controller is superior is almost every way (a weak D-pad aside)
I've heard horror stories though, of crazy people who hold the controller by the left and right handles and REACH over to the center handle to use the joystick. Its the weirdest damn thing, and apparently not as uncommon as you'd think.
Also the last thing I'd ever say about the N64 controller is that it doesn't have enough buttons. I mean its got 6 face buttons, which made it great for fighting games. Compared to the PS1/2's 4.
@Reverandjames Ultra Street Fighter 4 is the last update. And updating the current incarnation every few years is the best thing Capcom can do. Can you imagine what kind of nightmare it would be to buy a whole new sequel every year or two instead? Or how stale a competitive fighting game would get if it didn't get a sequel for 5 years?
People complaining about fighting game updates don't actually play fighting games regularly I'd think.
@MrGawain Capcom is suing Koei Tecmo over patent infringement. Mighty No.9 is similar to Mega Man, but not in way that violates copyright. Violating copyright would literally be calling your main character Rock Man, his partner Roll, and their creator Dr. Light.
Since Mighty No.9 doesn't do anything like that, its not a copyright violation.
Gone Home was one the greatest game experiences I've had in the last 6 months. Though I still wouldn't pay $20 for it. $5-10 is about right. Based entirely on length alone.
Also, anyone who claims Gone Home isn't a game. Doesn't actually know what a 'video game' is.
I've been a Super Mario fan for a very VERY long time. I was there for when the Super Mario 3 hype was strongest. I was the first of my friends to beat Super Mario World, I got Super Mario 64 at launch and got all 120 stars, I played Sunshine, I played Galaxy. And every game in between (but not Galaxy 2 for some reason...)
But my favorite Super Mario Platformer of them all?
Super Mario 3D Land. Full stop. That game took everything that came before and knocked it up another notch. It fixed all my problems with 3D Mario games (hit points, non-persistent power-ups) and combined it with the classic fixed camera gameplay of the 2D Marios. 3D World might be a bigger game with some new tricks, but 3D Land captured my imagination a lot more. World loses points for just not being on 3DS (the 3D experience of 3D Land added a LOT to it. Who knew that depth perception added so much to 3D platforming?!)
MMV is one of my earliest MM experiences. Its a bit easy, but its not as bland as IV was, as all of the new Robot Masters are at least interesting.
Something I didn't pick up on until I replayed the game as an adult. Protoman's castle bosses? They're all unfinished Robot Masters. Proto Masters if you will. I thought that was very clever.
It looks like somebody said "Hey, you know what would be great? If we pute Legend of Grimrock on 3DS." And then they made that exact game.
Which is great. Because Legend of Grimrock is great.
Keep in mind, if this is what it looks like it is, the combat is realtime (on cooldowns), and not turn based (like EO). But it looks like its got's Grimrock's heavy emphasis on Puzzles. Which is great. The one thing games like EO and SMT lack, are environmental puzzles to make the navigating more interesting.
Now if someone could make a Might and Magic X clone for 3DS (or... just port Might and Magic X to 3DS) I'd be one happy dungeon crawler.

Re: Nintendo 64x64: Space Station Silicon Valley
Probably the 3rd or 4th best 3D platformer on the system. Probably one of the top 10 of all time.

Nobody complains about Wonderful 101 being exclusive.

Also there's some selfish entitlement in there.

Being next door to Japan and all.
Re: Immediate DLC Reinforcements Arriving Soon On The Hyrule Warriors Battlefield
Being a Warriors game, I wonder if there will be an Xtreme Legends upgrade release with all the DLC (+ more?) on board.

Gameplay footage. In a TV commercial?! What is this madness?

The N64 is retro right now. Hell PS2 is retro now.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer?
@Dezzy that might be true about 64/Sunshine/Galaxy. But 3D Land/World are right in line with the 2D tradition that you can't really separate them.

Re: SNES Classic Cybernator Is Suiting Up For An Assault On The Wii U Virtual Console Tomorrow
@retro_player_22 I just recall that Metal Warriors was developed by Lucasarts. I don't think Cybernator was.

Looks a bit like Metal Warriors? Is it remotely similar?

The 3 year lead time makes me think either EO5 or SMT5. Thing is... 3 years the 3DS replacement is probably on the table by that point.

@anthonysea You hate Archie the character? Because Archie the character, and Archie the publisher aren't the same thing.

I adore Ian Flynn's Sonic and Sonic Universe (and Mega Man). But I'm going to skip this one.

I've wanted a 'Super Smash Bros Kart' since Smash64. So yeah. GIVE IT TO ME GOD DAMN IT.
And Smash Tennis and Smash Golf and Smash Party. Whatever!
