Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct Coming November 7th

...ARRRRRGGGGGHH!!!

Composes self

I was really hoping for a direct that would cover more stuff. Maybe a touch of Skyrim? I know it's a super old game now but I've never played it through, only mucked around on my fiance's game. Some Xenoblade would have been fine, though it's not a priority for me. But most of all, I really wanted a release date for the Zelda DLC. I will keep banging on about it until it arrives, but we all waited a very, very, VERY long time for Breath of the Wild. My patience for waiting is wearing uber thin and it would be nice to actually get some solid details on something that is supposed to be out in less than two months. But y'know, lets have a direct just for the game that had the most long winded segment in the last direct.

I'm aware this is all super entitled of me but I am getting frustrated

Re: Nintendo Wants Everyone In Your House To Have Their Own Switch

Jacob1092

@SLIGEACH_EIRE No, but they know some people are. And if they can market the Switch as a product for individuals, then they'll do that if it means more money for them. S'quite good business sense really. If it pans out. However, they'll have to weigh that up against the alienation some parents may feel towards buying a switch when Nintendo is putting out the message that really, you've got to get one for each of your kids and the parents think, "well screw that!" I imagine it'll come down to whatever makes them more money in the end, which is fair enough.

Re: Nintendo Gamers Prefer Using Switch As A Handheld Rather Than Docked

Jacob1092

I play it every way. While I'm at work, tabletop (I run a shop, Switch is awesome on quiet days!). I play it on the TV when I get home and handheld in bed. Zelda and Arms are generally always TV, Splatoon 2 I've gotten recently but that's been a mix of TV and tabletop, Stardew is tabletop and handheld. Oh, and Mario Kart, which is tabletop and TV, depending on where I am and who I'm absolutely destroying

Re: Rumour: LEGO Dimensions Has Apparently Been Killed Off

Jacob1092

Amiibo are awesome. I'll be having my Master Sword in Skyrim from the start, and in the meantime I'll still be getting my daily dose of tasty food. My Splatoon Amiibo will all be functioning when I finally pick up Splatoon 2, and the Olimar I fight in Smash Bros has unlocked that sweet outfit on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the Pikmin on it. I say all this because it goes to show that even if you think Amiibo are a scam, they do something which no other toys-to-life product does, and that's provide more value in a highly competitive market. They're not just single use. And that's pretty damn cool, because Nintendo could have made them single use. But they didn't. I like that. Plus the figures themselves are awesome!

Re: Get Ready for a Nintendo Direct on 13th September

Jacob1092

I said the other day they'd have some stuff to carry on the "big-hitter-per-month" strategy into 2018. Hopefully (assuming I'm right!) we see some of that. I imagine those new Kirby and Yoshi games from E3 will pop up, though something we haven't seen that will be a Q1/Q2 release for next year would be nice. Not to detract too much from Christmas, but enough to keep us excited for after then

Re: UK Retail Hails The Positive Impact Of Nintendo Switch

Jacob1092

@BlueOcean Perfectly fair shout, I can't even remember what was year one on Wii U if I'm being honest. I feel like Pikmin 3 was? God, that was a good game. Any news on 4 would be super awesome

@Powerballad The other thing to think of would be the ports. We've got Yoshi and Kirby which is two months, chuck in a port and you've got a quarter covered. It's not ideal, but considering how many people will have never played them for never owning a Wii U, in terms of business sense it would be an obvious win. I for one would be happy to buy Smash again, say a super edition with all the Smash DLC from 3DS and Wii U, and then them doing more DLC for that if they wanted. I think they'd be seriously silly to not do that. But yeah, between ports and secret stuff, I rekon we could have another reasonably busy year

Re: UK Retail Hails The Positive Impact Of Nintendo Switch

Jacob1092

@Powerballad I don't think the slow down is necessarily inevitable. The summer might be quiet but Nintendo as a company seems rather emboldened by their success with this system. They'd be silly to let things slow, but I think come winter time, once the last big hitters for the year are done and out, we'll see some annoucements for new stuff. I mean they announced Prime 4 at E3, they could be up to literally anything, and we'd have no idea!

Re: We Could See More FIFAs On Switch Beyond FIFA 18

Jacob1092

It's nice to see stuff like this. Can't say Fifa has ever appealed to me, but simple stuff like Four Button Mode sound exactly like the experiences I'm looking for on Switch. Who knows, perhaps I could be convinced to like football...

...No, I just laughed out loud to myself. Still, more power to anyone who does want this Looks like it's shaping up to be a nice little version for the Switch!

Re: Game Freak Director Discusses Evolution of Pokémon Designs

Jacob1092

@FriedSquid ...Seriously? Everyone here is having a pretty reasonable and civil discussion about their preferences and opinions on what makes a good design and you wanna reduce it to "lol it's a kid's game"? Lame dude. Of course we can accept that not everyone has the same feelings about it but if you can't see the value in a healthy exchange of ideas then the entire point of any conversation must have completely evaded you.

Re: Game Freak Director Discusses Evolution of Pokémon Designs

Jacob1092

@CrazedCavalier I suppose it comes down to what you prefer. I like simple. You mention Lucario, but in my head, straight away, I'd prefer it if it didn't have those silly spikes on its paws and coming out of its chest. Greninja, lose the elbow and knee pads, he's hardly riding a bike. Stuff like that is what I'm talking about. But to each their own I guess

To your point about digimon, don't get me wrong, I liked digimon and Digimon World for the PS1 remains one of my favourite games of all time. S'just not Pokémon! I can quite comfortably make the opposite point there where I prefer it when the later stage digimon are better off when they're these meched out super behemoths

Re: Game Freak Director Discusses Evolution of Pokémon Designs

Jacob1092

@thesilverbrick Totally agree. I mean the Geodude line makes less than no sense. It goes from having two arms, to two legs and four arms, to two legs and two arms. Why did it lose the arms, or even gain legs in the first place?

Having said that, I think this...

"Once you’re in the middle of creating it and someone were to say, ‘No!, that’s not a Pokémon,’ and the design process gets killed? That doesn’t really happen that much."

...does nothing to improve designs. If they were a little more selective and critical, I think there would be a general consensus that the designs were better. I honestly think too many of the later generations were just over complitcated. The best designs are always the simpler ones. This is especially true of Legendaries. You think how simple something like lugia or even Ho-Oh is compared to 'mons like Palkia and Dialga, with all that extra crap covering their bodies, makes them look more like digimon. Every gen has its own gems and stinkers, and at least for my taste anyway, the simpler ones always seem nicer to me.

Re: Pokémon on Nintendo Switch is Due '2018 or Later', But That's No Surprise

Jacob1092

@LuccaSSC I certainly think of it as a home console. But people kind of sort of maybe have a point when they say it's comparitively lower in power and obviously portable. However, with the rise of increasingly powerful mobile devices and game streaming and stuff, over time the distinction between "home console" and "portable console" is going to become more and more archaic. At least that's what I think. Ultimately, it doesn't matter because the Switch is the tatty bo jangles whatever you feel compelled to call it

Re: Pokémon on Nintendo Switch is Due '2018 or Later', But That's No Surprise

Jacob1092

This is gonna be the first proper Pokémon on a home console. Fine if you wanna argue whether or not the Switch is really a home console, but regardless it's a huge step up from 3DS. With that kind of jump, I'd rather it came out in 2020 if it means we're gonna see massive improvements in terms of the scope of gameplay and design. Perhaps a new focus on exploration? People were saying a little while ago that they wanted Metroid to be a bit more open world, and while I could see that being counterproductive for Metroid, for Pokémon I think it would be perfect.

The Legend of Pokémon: Balls of the Wild all the way!

Re: Splatoon 2's First Splatfest To Take Place Before The Game Launches

Jacob1092

No splitscreen battles has really put me off this. The Wii U version was quite naff, but me and my friend could just about have fun with it, him on the gamepad and me on the TV. I was hoping this game would provide a proper splitscreen VS mode of some kind because the nuts and of bolts of Splatoon make it a really fun game. Such a shame, I really wanted this to be awesome :/

Re: Nintendo Download: 29th June (Europe)

Jacob1092

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Out of curiosity, what would you have to see of the DLC to not want to buy it? I mean I'd pay £20 just for this initial pack, but I'm a sucker for anything with a Triforce slapped on it. What will make you want to buy it, and what will put you off?
