Re: Marathon Isn't Currently Planned For Switch 2, Unsurprisingly

ItsOKToBeOK

When I saw the trailer for Marathon, it legitimately felt like a 2nd party Switch 2 exclusive. The vibrant, clashing colors, the stylized character design. This would’ve been the perfect game to showcase the Switch 2’s new gamechat feature also. Imagine playing trios and being able to split up and see exactly what your teammates are seeing in game. Thats such an underrated feature. It feels like a game I’d want to pick up and play anywhere. Plus this is going to compete and get crushed by GTA VI, which probably isn’t going to launch on Switch 2. Big miss by Bungie

I would’ve honestly picked this up had it been a $70 Switch exclusive, with all content unlockable from the get go, plus content updates ala Splatoon 3 style. But they always gotta learn the hard way

Re: Nintendo Switch Ending Support For Social Media Platform 'X' Next month

ItsOKToBeOK

Imagine if Nintendo hadn’t given up on Miiverse or some other Switch centered, in house social media service. Nintendo could potentially have a social media platform with over 100 million users right now.

In fact, if a more powerful Switch is coming, it’d be silly not to give it another shot. Imagine if you could make and post Nintendo content without fear of copyright strikes, stream to other Nintendo users, and get paid for it? Nintendo with its own streaming platform and social media service would put the fear of god into Twitch, Kick, and Youtube

Re: Zelda Live-Action Movie Director Promises To Be "Ambitious"

ItsOKToBeOK

Making it a movie to me just feels like a mistake. There’s so much to the world, I can’t help but think anything short of a 3 hour movie will feel rushed. Looking at Fallout and The Last of Us, a big budget episodic series would’ve helped build hype and flesh out the world. But I’m still hoping for the best

Re: Switch Emulator Yuzu To Pay $2.4 Million To Nintendo & Cease Development

ItsOKToBeOK

Joint filing? With Yuzu paying Nintendo without a fight? AND Nintendo receiving the rights to their website??

I can’t be up in arms about this, I gotta believe a backroom deal must’ve been made. The headline makes it look like Nintendo is taking a strong stance against pirating, when really they just found insane talent for 3DS and Switch backward compatibility. Nintendo would be stupid to not use Yuzu as a vital resource for not only BC, but also patching future vulnerabilities on the Switch and Switch 2

Re: Sakurai Acknowledges End Of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Development

ItsOKToBeOK

I just love this. Make a game, pour all your heart, love and support into it, but know when to write the last chapter and close the book. Too many games hang around trying to chase a dollar, and turn into dreck. It without a doubt lived up to its name- Ultimate. I mean, they got friggin Banjo and Kazooie for crying out loud!!! I literally teared up watching that announcement 😭

A game where Mario, Sonic, Sora, Snake, Minecraft Steve, Kazuya, Ryu, and Joker can fight in Hyrule using poke balls and lightsabers. I mean come on . Take a bow Smash devs, you deserve it

Re: The Original Switch Reveal Trailer Has Been Removed From Nintendo's YouTube Channel

ItsOKToBeOK

This tells me the next Nintendo console is so similar to the Switch in name and likeness that Nintendo wants zero confusion around whats new and what isn’t. Nintendo doesn’t want a Wii U debacle again. Switch 2, Super Switch, or something else is in the cards. I’d be surprised if there’s an announcement before the holidays, but then again thats exactly what Nintendo would want to do, surprise everyone.

Re: Microsoft "Confident" Activision Could Optimise Call Of Duty For Nintendo Switch

ItsOKToBeOK

Getting it to run on Switch I don’t think is the biggest problem. The problem is Switch’s online ecosystem sucks and modern games literally aren’t fun on Switch because of it. No native chat, no party systems, no OS integrated way to message or invite friends. Heck, the Wii U and original Xbox had a more robust online gaming ecosystem!

Nintendo doesn’t need COD from Microsoft. They need access to Xbox Live API and the Azure cloud services from Microsoft. The Switch is so painfully behind where Xbox excels, why not make it happen?

Re: Totally New 30-Second Super Mario Movie Trailer Appears Out Of Nowhere

ItsOKToBeOK

@Solomon_Rambling if I had to choose, it would’ve been Leonardo Dicaprio- Italian, likeable, extremely skilled actor.

However his personal life is controversial, and I think thats an element people don’t factor in. Nintendo didn’t just need a voice- they needed a relatable, big star that wasn’t going to get in trouble. Liam Neeson is Irish and in his 70’s. Don’t know if thats what Nintendo would’ve been looking for

Re: Poll: So, What Do You Think Of Mario's Movie Voice?

ItsOKToBeOK

Pratt did good, he’ll get the job done. But these comments bagging on him is why we’ll never get a Zelda movie. Almost nobody talks in the games, they’d have to take liberties in bringing it to life. The fact that so many people look past the gorgeous animation, the amazing soundtrack, and get hung up on a single VA is all we need to see to know some people will never be happy

Re: Nintendo Twitter Account Supposedly Teases New Modes And More For Splatoon 3

ItsOKToBeOK

I really wanted a Salmon Run “Left 4 Dead” mode, where you have to get from Point A to Point B while surviving waves of Salmonids. Then maybe on the final run, one teammate has to carry an egg for extra difficulty.

The huge difference between Splatoon and L4D is traversal. You could have levels that are completely vertical, ink rails going across caverns, specials and weapons scattered across the level. Plus it’d be fun as hell to play as the special Salmonids

Re: Ubisoft Reportedly Wants Its Share Price To Improve Before It Sells

ItsOKToBeOK

It seems odd Ubisoft would want to sell now, more than anyone else. They avoided a hostile takeover at a much higher price just a few years ago. Plus French law says no foreign company can purchase a controlling interest in a domestic company.

Nintendo would be an obviously amazing suitor. Ubisoft would be able to tap into a ton of their own old IP as well as Nintendo’s as a 2nd party developer

Re: Talking Point: In An Age Of Endless Delays, Nintendo's First-Party Flow Is Extraordinary

ItsOKToBeOK

Game development is at a point where it's reach exceeds its grasp. Beautiful, surreal, and realistic graphics are now possible on this generations hardware, but requires a thousand developers and half a decade to achieve it. Then the game may not even be good

So I chalk it up to Nintendo's emphasis on gameplay over graphics. What people thought would be the Switch's greatest weakness- it's multiple generational gap in power- has turned into its greatest strength. Without the overhead of needing to harness the "power" of a costly console, Nintendo can churn out consistently fun games, graphics be damned. And I 100% prefer it this way

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Switch Box Art For Splatoon 3

ItsOKToBeOK

Love me some Splatoon, put 1000 hours into #2. But I seriously don’t get this release. Plenty of people still play 2, and its releasing on the same console, so no possibility of a huge graphical upgrade or increase in scale (what most people wanted).

This could’ve been pushed back a year or two and no one would bat an eye.

Re: Random: Is Miyamoto's Most Famous Quote Not His After All?

ItsOKToBeOK

I always assumed this quote was the result of a loose translation of Miyamoto. Of course he didn’t say these exact words. But let’s not pretend this phrase was popularized by the 1997 delay of Blasto lol.

I like to think this quote being attributed to Miyamoto and Nintendo has made their competition think twice about grinding their devs down to dust with crunch. If this quote is attributed to Miyamoto, the literal king of high quality video games, devs can use his work as leverage for more healthy work environments

Re: Back Page: After Spending $70B On Activision Blizzard... What If Microsoft Buys Nintendo Next?

ItsOKToBeOK

“We invented you”

Sums it up. Microsoft wouldn’t just have to buy Nintendo, they’d have to buy their pride as well. It’s more likely Nintendo makes an acquisition themselves- Sega or Square Enix.

But this move kicks Sony square in the balls. They pretty much abandoned the Japanese market and heavily depended on America’s and Europes love for FPS and single player games. They also don’t have anywhere near enough cash to purchase EA. What a move by Xbox

Re: Nintendo Teases Splatoon 3 (Again) With Halloween Art

ItsOKToBeOK

The best IP Nintendo has created on this side of the millenium.

I would love to have a Left 4 Dead-esque Salmon Run mode, where you and 3 other friends have to get from Point A to Point B against hordes of Salmonids. The uniqueness of it would shine because traversal in Splatoon is so different- you could have levels that are completely vertical, activate rails across trenches with sharp shooting snipers, super jump to teammates in need. Plus you’d have specials to bail you out. It’d be such insane fun

Re: Among Us Teases Next Update With New Role: The Shapeshifter

ItsOKToBeOK

@valharian not if you’re in a good lobby. Being crewmate, finding who you can trust, and deducing who’s imposter together is the funnest game mechanic I’ve played in years.
Its like the movie “The Thing”.

I’d also love a mode where imposters only win after killing everybody, not just the majority. Add in allowing dead crewmates to help the living- locking vents, closing doors, appearing on cams- and you could have the last crewmate make a mad rush to finish tasks before the imposters get him.

Also, when someone gets killed, the game needs to distribute their tasks to the living teammates. Its so stupid when you lose a game because a dead crewmate stopped playing. These additions would make the game indie perfection

Re: Random: It Has Now Been 1,000 Days Since Metroid Prime 4's Development Was Restarted

ItsOKToBeOK

I hope back in 2019 Nintendo realized the Switch just wasn’t the platform for this game. Games releasing today are absolute technical marvels. Its jaw dropping what’s possible today. How would a 3D Metroid built around a phones SoC from 2014 compare in 2023/2024?

With the technical talent behind this project, all signs point to Prime 4 being a launch title to Nintendo’s next console. And if that’s the case holy hell I’m all in

Re: The Super Mario Movie's Release Date And Cast Are Revealed

ItsOKToBeOK

@Dr_Lugae I think the casting did one thing right- all the main characters VA’s are fervent gamers, and grew up with Nintendo. As far as comedy, timing, and punchlines go, you couldn’t choose a better lineup.

Chris Pratt is a strange choice I’ll admit. When I think of Mario, I think of magic and whimsical wonder. Pratt doesn’t inspire that. If they had the big money, Leonardo Dicaprio would’ve been a home run.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Hacker Arrested For Selling Modified Save Data

ItsOKToBeOK

I’m struggling to find what he did illegally. Am I missing something here? This is a single player game, with virtually zero online capabilities- his exploits don’t affect any other player that wishes to play normally. He wasn’t selling copies of the game- to use his save states you still needed to own your own copy of the game. You’re allowed to sell entire digital libraries of games, but you can’t individually sell their save states? And gamers modify, change, and examine game data all the time. Speedrunning, glitches, cheats, exploits, it’s all a part of video games. If he legally bought the game, and the person he’s selling to needs a legally bought version also, what business is it of the publishers or law enforcement? Where does the ownership of a game begin and end?

Idk man, this would be a legit fight in the courts, at least here in the US

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate And Splatoon 2 Become Officially Recognised Varsity Sports In US Schools

ItsOKToBeOK

@Mountain_Man its more about the economics of it. Players that show promise can be recruited or drafted by these huge eSports companies. If a school is recognized for having a top notch eSports program and pipeline, more players will want to attend that school. I also think this is a fantastic way to introduce game development, design, and debugging in high school. Lets not get caught up in the label “sports”

To me, if its played competitively, its a sport. NASCAR, Chess, Horse Racing, and yes gaming too, are all sports in my book. If you can make money competitively playing it, then its a Pro sport
