Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Is Getting A Sweet 'Switch 2 Edition' Upgrade This November

Indielink

@TheExile285 I would guess that the difficulty is Nintendo themselves are just being weirdly selective about who they want to give them to. With the upgrades revealed in the recent Direct it seems like Nintendo is trying to use each upgrade as a sort of showcase rather than flooding the market. Lollipop Chainsaw hits their quota for, "weird cult classic," that they can now say is available.

They did something very similar in the early days of the Switch as well.

Lot of complaining here. Even if we don't have all the details on dates and things for Nintendo's rest of the year we know what the games are. We don't need a first party direct to get a release date for Metroid Prime.

Third party is a much bigger mystery and also is just going to be much more interesting in terms of who's supporting the system and what they're bringing.

Re: Sonic Racing: Crossworlds On Switch 2 Will Feature The Full Base Game On Cartridge

@Sambuc Given that the digital release is still coming this year, the holdup is clearly on the manufacturing end. And given Sega's big push at launch for key cards and no upgrades, something must have changed if they're opting for a full physical release that's several months late for what would otherwise be their big holiday title.

We'll likely never know the whole story, but "responding to backlash," is a pretty reasonable assumption.

Re: Nintendo Confirms The Release Date For Drag X Drive On Switch 2

Indielink

@SillyG How many Nintendo published titles were you expecting in the first couple weeks of release?

I do think compilation releases of the digital titles would be neat. A double pack with The Stretchers and Good Job would go hard. But I imagine it would also be a huge pain in the butt right wise.

Re: Review: Survival Kids (Switch 2) - Konami's NS2 Debut Is Cosy, Competent, Kid-Friendly Co-op

Indielink

Heads up, two player mode with Gameshare is running at 60fps, rather than 30. Streaming to two systems drops it to 30 though.

Wife grabbed this the other night for some mindless co-op silliness (wasn't ready for the emotional damage/70GB download of Split Fiction) and this review is pretty spot on. It's basic and frill free and the art is kinda soulless but it's fun enough in short bursts. We've got a little one on the way so maybe we'll be able to play it with them in a couple years.

Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2

Indielink

@Medic_alert I havn't seen anything about Cyberpunk in this thread, but maybe I just scrolled past it. I'll have to go back and look.

I wouldn't expect a port of Fantasy Life to best display the gap in console capability. We've got plenty of other games that do do that. Nor would I expect it to give S1 owners FOMO. But for the people buying the S2 for games like Kart World or portable Kunitsu-Gami, having a much better running version of Fantasy Life is a bonus. It's just icing on the cake. And it's fun to be excited about icing.

Re: New Videos Show How Fantasy Life i Has Been Beefed Up On Switch 2

@Medic_alert I think if someone were only buying Fantasy Life then yeah you'd have a point about the price/ return on investment. But like, no one is buying a Switch 2 to do that (cue barrage of Fantasy Life stans on this site telling me I'm wrong). It's a new console. It's gonna have other new exclusive games coming out.

Re: Nintendo: "Appetite" For Mario Kart And Series' Accessibility Makes It Ideal For Switch 2's Launch

Indielink

@8bitKirby Sure. But then they lose out on all the people looking for a multiplayer game. And judging by the fact that Kart 8 is the fifth best selling game of all time it's pretty reasonable to start off with that for the Switch 2 launch.

Edit: I want to make it clear that I would also personally prefer a single player game. But it is objectively the correct decision to ride the high and start off with something multiplayer.

Re: Review: The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy (Switch) - An Addictive VN & Tactics Blend With Notes Of Persona

@Ralizah Yeah, my wife was calling Somnium Files the, "pervy detective game." It was distracting for me there as well but it felt less frequent and it was so completely unhinged that I was more dumbfounded than annoyed.

Rain Code should have been so good but it just had me wanting to strangle Shinigami. Literally every line out of her was garbage. From the forementioned, "flat chested uggo," to Kurumi, the weird queer baiting shenanigans with Halara, or just the general unhealthy dom attitude towards Yuma. It just never stopped.

@Kuruwin Uchikoshi had a hand on this too and his games have had a pervy streak. I loved 999, and Somnium Files was wicked good, even if they couldn't stop making jokes about dirty mags.

I don't mind sexual humor, it's just that Rain Code was a nonstop barrage of low hanging fruit. Could only hear Kurumi be called a, "flat chested uggo," so many times.
