@TheExile285 I would guess that the difficulty is Nintendo themselves are just being weirdly selective about who they want to give them to. With the upgrades revealed in the recent Direct it seems like Nintendo is trying to use each upgrade as a sort of showcase rather than flooding the market. Lollipop Chainsaw hits their quota for, "weird cult classic," that they can now say is available.
They did something very similar in the early days of the Switch as well.
@anoyonmus I'm just saying that the way you phrased your previous comment can be read to imply it's running at 4k and 120 fps at the same time in docked.
@Max_the_German There's no news of any cartridge. It'll probably stay digital until Fangamer does their thing with it. I'd imagine, knowing what we do about Team Cherry, it'll likely be one Switch version that has Switch 2 data available.
Just got through the intro. It's definitely much smoother than the original on Switch. I don't love the low resolution textures on the ground throughout the planet, but the resolution itself is fine enough that the image is still readable. The voice acting is super anime cheesy.
Lot of complaining here. Even if we don't have all the details on dates and things for Nintendo's rest of the year we know what the games are. We don't need a first party direct to get a release date for Metroid Prime.
Third party is a much bigger mystery and also is just going to be much more interesting in terms of who's supporting the system and what they're bringing.
@Sambuc Given that the digital release is still coming this year, the holdup is clearly on the manufacturing end. And given Sega's big push at launch for key cards and no upgrades, something must have changed if they're opting for a full physical release that's several months late for what would otherwise be their big holiday title.
We'll likely never know the whole story, but "responding to backlash," is a pretty reasonable assumption.
@SillyG How many Nintendo published titles were you expecting in the first couple weeks of release?
I do think compilation releases of the digital titles would be neat. A double pack with The Stretchers and Good Job would go hard. But I imagine it would also be a huge pain in the butt right wise.
@sanderev For real. People seem to have quickly forgotten just how many Switch releases were codes in a box or partial downloads on an 8GB cart. It's fine to not like them (I don't either) but it's silly to pretend they're so great new evil plaguing the lands.
Heads up, two player mode with Gameshare is running at 60fps, rather than 30. Streaming to two systems drops it to 30 though.
Wife grabbed this the other night for some mindless co-op silliness (wasn't ready for the emotional damage/70GB download of Split Fiction) and this review is pretty spot on. It's basic and frill free and the art is kinda soulless but it's fun enough in short bursts. We've got a little one on the way so maybe we'll be able to play it with them in a couple years.
@Medic_alert I havn't seen anything about Cyberpunk in this thread, but maybe I just scrolled past it. I'll have to go back and look.
I wouldn't expect a port of Fantasy Life to best display the gap in console capability. We've got plenty of other games that do do that. Nor would I expect it to give S1 owners FOMO. But for the people buying the S2 for games like Kart World or portable Kunitsu-Gami, having a much better running version of Fantasy Life is a bonus. It's just icing on the cake. And it's fun to be excited about icing.
@Medic_alert I think if someone were only buying Fantasy Life then yeah you'd have a point about the price/ return on investment. But like, no one is buying a Switch 2 to do that (cue barrage of Fantasy Life stans on this site telling me I'm wrong). It's a new console. It's gonna have other new exclusive games coming out.
@donv2135 It's way more fun to spew rage without thinking.
As others have mentioned, this is most likely a set up for launch day systems to prevent leaks and future shipments will have the update installed beforehand.
@AllBLK You mean to tell me that I won't see the ghost of Iwata pulling up to Best Buy in an 18-wheeler at midnight? And Miyamoto won't open the back and personally hand me my order?
@AG_Awesome Nintendo's bput a page up on their website maybe two weeks (citation needed) ago that gave vague deets about the freebie upgrades. They sound like decent upgrades but it's hard to say without solid numbers.
@JumpingJackson There has been plenty of ire at Nintendo for the new pricing. But also Nintendo saying, "yeah this thing is more expensive and we think we put a lot of work into it and we think it's worth it," is wildly different from Randy's stupid statement here.
@8bitKirby Sure. But then they lose out on all the people looking for a multiplayer game. And judging by the fact that Kart 8 is the fifth best selling game of all time it's pretty reasonable to start off with that for the Switch 2 launch.
Edit: I want to make it clear that I would also personally prefer a single player game. But it is objectively the correct decision to ride the high and start off with something multiplayer.
@Ralizah Yeah, my wife was calling Somnium Files the, "pervy detective game." It was distracting for me there as well but it felt less frequent and it was so completely unhinged that I was more dumbfounded than annoyed.
Rain Code should have been so good but it just had me wanting to strangle Shinigami. Literally every line out of her was garbage. From the forementioned, "flat chested uggo," to Kurumi, the weird queer baiting shenanigans with Halara, or just the general unhealthy dom attitude towards Yuma. It just never stopped.
@Kuruwin Uchikoshi had a hand on this too and his games have had a pervy streak. I loved 999, and Somnium Files was wicked good, even if they couldn't stop making jokes about dirty mags.
I don't mind sexual humor, it's just that Rain Code was a nonstop barrage of low hanging fruit. Could only hear Kurumi be called a, "flat chested uggo," so many times.

@progx If we hadn't heard from multiple developers who have confirmed they've had difficulty getting dev kits you might be on to something there.

@abbyhitter It adds a short side campaign. Internet says about five more hours of story in two chapters.

@anoyonmus I'm just saying that the way you phrased your previous comment can be read to imply it's running at 4k and 120 fps at the same time in docked.
Re: First Impressions: Same But Different? - Our Initial Hours With Hollow Knight: Silksong
@anoyonmus Just want to note here it's not doing 4K AND 120fps at the same time. On S2 you have the choice of either 4k/60 or 1080/120 for docked.
Re: Hitman: World Of Assassination Updated On Switch 2, Here Are The Patch Notes

Re: Review: Herdling (Switch) - A Serene, Soothing Animal Trek With Some Rough Edges
@rjejr Devs hosted an AMA on Reddit a few days ago. They'd like to release an S2 update, but they're still in line to get their hands on dev kits.

@ImpromptuR They're very clearly making a joke about Digimon and the way evolution works. The writing here has always had a jokey tone to it.
Re: Mina The Hollower On Switch 2 Supports 120fps
@trcsf They mentioned in the video you wouldn't be able to see the difference. Because YouTube doesn't support 120fps video.

@Sambuc Manufacturing for the physical versions likely only started very recently, and likely in response to online backlash to key-cards.

At this point I'll take equal docked and slightly worse handheld to get an actual cartridge.
Re: PS5 Hit 'Stellar Blade' Is Reportedly In Consideration For The Switch 2
@Zealv2 No reason they would? More explicit games have been on Nintendo consoles.

@AG_Awesome Several of the paid upgrade games (both Zelda's and Kirby) are confirmed to be running better than Switch 1 dock mode while in handheld.
Re: First Impressions: We've Played Three SEGA Games On Switch 2
Really turned off by Sega's lack of upgrade paths for Switch 1->Switch 2 titles when they're offering it on other platforms.
