Re: The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection Doesn't Include A Switch Game Card

Indielink

@ObsidianEleven I don't mind partial downloads most of the time. The reality of the situation is that Switch carts are friggin expensive. Consensus seems to be that 8GB Switch carts are roughly equivalent in cost to a 50GB PS4 disc. To use a large format card could very easily lead to a point where devs are only making pennies on a game sale. They gotta keep the lights on if we want games.

NOW THAT THAT HAS BEEN SAID, devs who release full price retail games without a cart are scum.

Re: The Outer Worlds Publisher Reveals Performance And Resolution Of The Switch Version

@Razer You might not think it's worth full price but the effort has been made to add in additional content to justify that price. The new 20 hour side story is literally bigger than some modern AAA games. It is a pretty substantial upgrade from the original release. Burnout Remastered is a barebones port that EA has the audacity to charge Switch owners an extra ten bucks over PS4 and X1 solely because it's coming to Switch. There is NO justification for that price increase. It's the same thing Capcom has done with their most recent Resident Evil and DMC games: upcharge only for the Switch despite receiving the same content as other platforms.

Savings are dope, and I'm glad you managed to snag Witcher 3 for a discount at launch. But that does not change the fact that it launched at full retail price. Feel free to check the weekly games release update on this very site. It's the one dated October 17th.

Again, if you cannot see the differences in XBDE and Burnout Remastered I don't know what to tell you.

@Razer EA is upcharging the Switch port of Burnout compared to other consoles and is just getting a basic increase in resolution.
XBDE got huge swathes of the game redone visually, all new lighting, a revamped UI, and a new sidestory with some 20 hours of gameplay. The less than stellar resolution might be disappointing but it does not take away from the fact that a lot of work was still done on the game.

Also, Witcher 3 was a full price release and does NOT run better than Xenoblade.

You can argue that Xenoblade shouldn't be full retail price right now, which is a totally fair take, but to try to say it's the same situation as Burnout is so misinformed it borders on willful ignorance.

@Link41x That same gap exists between PS4/Xbox owners and people who play on PC. Even with the gap, crossplay is good. It expands lobbies, reduces wait times to get into games, and it extends the overall lifetime of a game. It's also just a generally pro consumer thing to do.

Fortnite is a mess because Epic hasn't gone back and optimized anything on Switch in the last two years. At launch the game ran decently enough that gyro helped bridge the gap a bit. Rocket League, Paladins, and Killer Queen all do a great job at offering fairly equal experiences.

@Agramonte The number of previews that say the game looks quite nice (Eurogamer in particular mentions that it is far cleaner than XC2) I think bodes well for the existence of decent post processing. EG quote below:

"Technically this feels like a big step up from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and while it's not blemish-free it certainly doesn't have the same fuzzy aesthetic that the 2017 game had - the draw distance is more generous, the textures more defined."

@gcunit @Spoony_Tech If you don't like it, don't force yourself to play to the end but I would say give it another shot. Each level does introduce new gimmicks and mechanics to the point that some areas do become closer to puzzles than anything else. I think it's a much better game than something like VVVVV, Super Meat Boy, or even The Messenger.

Next to BoTW and Transistor this is probably my favorite game on Switch. I regularly will just pop it on to play a few levels.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Had The Third-Biggest US Launch Of Any Nintendo Game In History

@Trajan "...and then what?" Is a complaint that can be lobbied at any game, not just AC. But you can continue decorating as Nintendo updates the game and adds new stuff, finish the Critterpedia, collect fossils, or just search for the villagers from old games you like. Their words don't have to have an exceptional depth, they can continue just being funny and goofy as they are. And they have a lot more variety in what they say than any NPC, including the Nopon.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Had The Third-Biggest US Launch Of Any Nintendo Game In History

@Trajan It's not just a grind for gear, it's a sandbox. You literally get to be the God of this little town which is super appealing for many people. It's gratifying to build up the island from nothing to your own little utopia. Villagers have a lot more personality than generic RPG townspeople. They have actual likes and dislikes, they'll comment on things going on and the people or other animals who come visit.

I can't think of an RPG that lets you tinker with your town the way AC does.

Re: You'll Be Able To Buy The Borderlands And Bioshock Games Separately On The Switch eShop

Indielink

@nessisonett It's not at full price though, at least in the US. And you are getting three games. At launch the Bioshock Collection was 10USD more expensive on other platforms than it is for Switch. And the launch price for getting all three of these Borderlands games on other platforms was almost double what they are charging on Switch. Seriously, the games would have to be free for some people on this site to not be displeased with the price.

If you don't like the price then wait a few months. 2K has been consistently on point with putting their games on sale.
