Re: Nintendo Forced To Offer eShop Game Refund After Russian Court Filing

Indielink

This is hardly the first time Nintendo has refunded a digital game. NintendoSwitch subreddit is full of threads of people saying they got a digital game refunded, complete with screenshots.

Heck, my dad got a refund on the 3DS EShop a couple years ago after my younger brother stole his credit card to buy a Pokemon Ranger game.

@YANDMAN Ahh you are correct. I forgot about the OG WiiU release. Good call. As for the ten companies who specialize in limited releases of indie games, none of them have touched Shin'ens other two Switch releases so I'm pretty comfortable in buying the digital and not waiting for a theoretical physical game.

And to throw my hat into the "voxel vs 3d pixel" argument, voxel is literally the term for 3d pixel.

@Burning_Bacon I was super negative to most everything for a long time. Visuals, Dexit, Drednaw being another Water/Rock type...It wasn't until the datamine that I flipped and started being excited. I still have issues with the visuals and overly samey structure but I am still happy to play it.

I will be ready to lead the riot if Pokemon Spear releases next year as a 60 dollar game though.

@Yorumi VGC rules change on a per tournament basis. The 2019 World Championship allowed anything not Mythical. The only rule pertaining to the Bank was that the Pokemon had to be born or bred in Alola. So while you couldn't use the Tyranitar you've had since gen 2, you could bring it into the game, breed it, and use its son.

@Kalmaro I feel like there was a lot of pre-launch hysteria about how awful the games were going to be. And that included negatives from a gameplay perspective. Much more negativity than one would expect from a lack of effort. You would have thought that GameFreak killed all of our babies by the way some people on this site were reacting. It's weird, I definitely expect more and I also think that 60 bucks is a lot given that the leap was much smaller than it should have been, but I'm also really enjoying it. Darn you Pokemon.

@Snaplocket Definitely strong. This generation is gonna be a good one competitively.

@Kalmaro I'm speaking from a gameplay standpoint. This is my opinion from about ten hours in game, a lot of time on the SWSH Leaks Reddit pre launch, and a bunch of time in the last two days on Serebii. Almost every single new Mom has a viable stat spread/interesting ability/strong movepool. Even the Raticate equivalent has some potential in competitive play. And the designs themselves are some of the best we've ever gotten.

I agree that the game is lacking ambition and technically weak. This could have been so much more than it ended up being. I also agree that GameFreaks PR for this game was pretty horrible. But underneath all that is still a strong game.

@frabbit I think Casey is the most knowledgeable Pokemon player in the games journalism industry. While I think the NUMBER she attached was a little high (maybe an 8.5 would be more appropriate based on what we've seen), the actual text of her review is pretty excellent and I trust it.

It's unfortunate that we didn't get a BoTW style revamp of the series, but SwSh still look like very good classic Pokemon games.

@RupeeClock While I think GF should have been more upfront, I think it is also absolutely insane that this kind of culling hadn't happened sooner. Thankfully the only competitive moves removed were Hidden Power and Pursuit, and honestly I think HP should have been removed ages ago.

One the plus side, the datamine also showed us an additional 100+ mons more than we thought there would be.

Re: Review: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition - An Incredible Action-RPG Stands Strong On Switch

@Mr_Muscle Because what I just said is a bunch of stuff to justify the price? It's a custom built version of the game. It's not just "settings flipped to low." To refer to the game as a "de-master" as you have in other comments is being disingenuous and honestly kinda rude to the people who worked on the game. Big chunks of the game were rebuilt around the system's hardware. We have a very recognizable, if blurry, iteration of one of the best games of the last decade running well on hardware it was never designed for. And I'm going to reiterate the very expensive 32GB card. Those are not cheap by any means.

Witcher 3 Complete is currently 50 bucks on PSN. If you want to wait for it to go on sale again and hit 15 then go right ahead.

@Mr_Muscle Nintendo didn't set the price. And either way, the nice gentlemen at Saber Interactive need to be paid for the year that they spent bringing this game over to the Switch. Even if it is uglier, getting that game to run on a device this size is a ton of work. Also they shelled out a buttload of money for the 32GB cartridges. Those ain't cheap and I would bet my foot that they are a part of the reason the game is a full 60.

Re: And Just Like That, Fortnite Is No More

@RadioHedgeFund I feel you on the hate train. Some of these commenters really are excessive in their dislike of the game.

I don't think the game is anything special in their consideration of IAPs though. 20 dollar skins/dances/emotes are still there and progress on the Battle Pass is still slow enough that players with less time or skill are forced to pay up to unlock the levels on it for the things they want.
