If you remember back a few weeks, it was finally confirmed that Rodea the Sky Soldier would be spreading its wings and escaping the depths of development hell. After a shaky development cycle that was dragged out over three years, NIS America made the announcement that it would be publishing the title on both Wii U and 3DS.
Previously, we were just given a release window of “fall” to go by, but it has now come to light that both versions of Rodea the Sky Soldier will be arriving in Europe on 25th September. The North American release date still has yet to be nailed down, but it can be reasonably expected to be somewhere around the European date. According to Amazon, Rodea will be arriving on North American shores on 22nd September, but this has yet to be confirmed. Hopefully, NIS America will have more to share soon.
Don't forget that first-run physical copies of the Wii U version will come packaged with the Wii version on a separate disc, quite a deal for early adopters.

Just in time for my birthday!
Sadly I'm hearing... not good things about it
@lividd3ad
Really? What are the issues you've heard about it? The trailer videos I've seen, that show gameplay, looks pretty good.
@lividd3ad Where have you heard negative things about it?
@rdrunner1178 @sketchturner NintenDaan has been playing it recently and has said he's quite underwhelmed. The footage for the 3DS version in particular is pretty underwhelming as the framerate is abhorrent.
I'm still really looking forward to trying the Wii U version. Hopefully we get a demo over here.
Man, I can't believe Nintendo allowed this first semester to be so barren for the Wii U once again. There are so many games announced for the second part of the year.
@ricklongo There were loads announced for the first part of this one (That then never materialised) no reason to suspect the same won't happen to the second half of this year.
@unrandomsam @ricklongo
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (EU), Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, Mario vs. DK: Tipping Stars, Mario Party 10, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World (EU)
@lividd3ad
OK. I'm more interested in the Wii-U version myself also. So I'll probably be getting it regardless, especially with the Wii version included.
I will get for its rare factor as it will probably sell quite badly
Well....that Wii version will at least be collectible.
I'll pick this up I think it looks pretty fun.i think this might actually sell a bit better than expected.since its out the same month as mario maker they're may be some folk with extra cash who notice it sitting next to that game and think "why not?".
Cool been eyeballing this for what seems a couple years
@lividd3ad Gameplay footage on youtube shows pretty consistent framrate even in intense cases. But I'll have to play it myself.
Nice. Not the best looking game, but if its fun to play I'll definitely check it out.
@scamander Well, I'm not in Europe, which cuts that list by a full third.
Of the games left, if I actually look at the games I'm actually interested in, then there is a single one: Splatoon, and that will just barely release this semester.
It's a far cry from having Yoshi (non-EU), Mario Maker and Giant Robot, which were all announced for the first half of 2015.
@unrandomsam To be honest, I don't expect any other game to not meet the 2nd semester deadline after Zelda. What can I say, I'm ever the optimistic.
I'm super excited for this game!
Q) What do you think?
A) Well I'm glad to finally receive a release date, maybe now my GAME store will actually have the game available to pre-order. I would love to get my hands on the first print Wii version, it'd be pretty awesome.
The release date is also good news for me as it is the first retail game I've been wanting that is separated from my other wanted games by several months. This will give me chance to get somewhere in my rapidly building up backlog (and that's only counting the games I've purchased this year).
Q) Have you been following this title through its ups and downs over the last few years?
A) Sort of. When it was first announced, I'd usually read up on it's articles on Siliconera, but more as a casual browse. The game intrigued me, but I wasn't certain on wanting to purchase it. Now, I'm very eager to obtain this game, and I look forward to playing it this September.
Good. They still have time to implement Wiimote and gyro controls.
@Varoennauraa NIS America is only doing publishing duties in favour of the developer, and are very unlikely going to touch the core coding after the game has already gone gold in Japan. The Wii Remote control support is going to remain a Wii-exclusive thing, but that's fine in some ways, as the Wii disc is coming within the Wii U retail case anyway, and since Wii U is backwards-compatible, well, you get the idea.
Famitsu gave it a 7.5/10. But it was a weird joint review of all versions.
So wait the Wii U version doesn't allow using the Wiimote (Around which it was designed in the first place.)
@HopeNForever aah, I didn't kwow the game was already done. Such a shame.
@unrandomsam Yeah. The flying in the original demo looked amazingly fluid, but now it seems to be toned down a notch or two [salt]because of popular demand of dual analog clunkiness[salt]
I guess that's the reason, why they include the original concept in the package.
I have a question for anyone who is quite knowledgeable.
I have preordered the Nintendo Wii U version from ShopTo.net and it does not mention the Nintendo Wii version will be included. Does that mean they will be announcing a First Print Edition that I should have waited to preorder or should that preorder that I have made come with the Nintendo Wii version?
Game is awesome, how it came to finally exist is awesome, its an instant pre-order purchase for me, someone give me a pre-order page dammit!! NA has had pre-order available for a month already.
