What do I HOPE to see? Diddy Kong Racing remake/sequel and the Smash Bros logo with a reveal trailer for Partitio from Octopath Traveler 2.

What do I expect? Nintendo games I guess.

Mario Kart World update with new characters/skins (i.e. DK and Pauline)
New Fire Emblem (new entry or remake)
Smash Bros teaser now that Air Riders is almost done (Ultimate came out SEVEN years ago)
Metroid Prime 4 release date
Octopath Traveler 0 new information
NSO releases (Colosseum/XD?)

I've seen so many comments saying the design is boring or lazy

People forgetting Mega Slowbro is literally just a Slowbro with a shell turned 90 degrees and bigger, and Mega Absol just grows flamboyant wings. These designs don't need to look like actual evolutions.

It's literally based on the word QUASAR which is pronounced KWAY-ZAR. I'm not going to try and force anyone to pronounce things differently than they prefer, but saying this pronunciation is wrong is just incorrect. It doesn't matter if its not spelled Rayquayza, the english language is stupid and we should all know this at this point that letter arrangements don't make sense.

After seeing all the allegations come from the Smash Bros competitive scene and the Completionist charity fraud - I'm behind Nintendo on this. And sure it's a charity event but that's going to get covered on streaming websites and will potentially get ad revenue which is probably not something most people immediately think of. Even if it's for charity, you can't be certain everyone present is going to play nice and not keep any money.

And like some people are mentioning - they're just asking the organizers to ask first. That's not a tall ask and should've been done regardless of the size of the company.

@Serpenterror from the look of it there's aspects of the prequel, it might even be the whole prequel story + more so calling it 3 wouldn't make sense

My one comment on the hopes for the direct article was a new Octopath game. My soul is now up for sale on Kijiji.

@LastFootnote i think Diamond and Pearl are easily my least favourite games in the series, theyre just so... boring, I don't get the appeal. But then again when people say they like Gen 4 they usually just mean Platinum.

I will sell my soul if I see any tease or trailer for Octopath Traveler 3.

@SillyG my 33 year old starting-to-grey hair does not appreciate it either.

Though the higher average age does make sense if you see how much more widespread Pokemon criticism has become in the last 5 or so years, because 99% of kids will not care about Dexit or framerates.

9 for now. Gameplay is addicting, characters are charming, music is great, all the callbacks and nostalgia bits are great. Will probably go closer to 10 closer to the end of the game depending how it plays out.

Also guaranteed the people who selected 1 - Abysmal don't have the game and/or are 12 years old.

I told myself I'd get around 500 gold before proceeding to the second level because i wanted to have some cash in case there were shops..... ended up getting to about 6000 before deciding "maybe i should go to the yellow marker". Same, Miyamoto.

@Ultimapunch Ocarina of Time was my first thought. that game ran horribly and it's praised as the greatest game of all time. Breath of the Wild had frame drops and it's praised as the second greatest game of all time (well, it's up there)

Donkey Kong Bananza will be fine with a few frame drops people.

99% of consumers won't care if it drops to 50 fps on larger destruction sequences. Unless it drops to below 30fps very often, nobody is going to bat an eye at this except for people on Reddit and this comment section.

I'm just patiently waiting to see the headline that Pokemon Colosseum is available so I can load up the game that starts with a cutscene where Wes blows up a building and 30 seconds later you're battling Rider Willie with his 2 Zigzagoon and the best Pokemon OST starts playing.

@NolandC ah yes the famous price=amount of bugs a game should or should not have. You realize they probably have 10 to 20 bug testers who absolutely cannot forsee the amount of bugs 5 million players can find? Learn how video game development works.

@PinballBuzzbro aren't they contract workers? They could be replaced at any time, and we don't know the full details as to why some of them other than Martinet were replaced. I know there's some drama with the voice actors' union, it's possible that had something to do with it. Not defending Nintendo at all but saying they're screwing over half the main cast when 90% of voice lines have been reused for like 15 years is a bit of a stretch.

As someone who's played almost every 3D Zelda with a differently voiced Link and Zelda, I really don't see any issue here. New Mario generation, new voice. Martinet soundly wildly different from the N64 days to the Switch days, the kid has plenty of time to improve.

Glad he's getting to experience this! Can't wait to hear him in the next Smash.

I'm just happy being able to play through Three Houses without minute long loading times anymore. Same with New Horizons, both games seem to have cut loading screens in half!

Also this console has now sold more than 1/4 of all Wii U units. What a time to be alive.

@BinaryMessiah to be fair we're getting another first party game in a month, and the entire backlog of Switch games are now upgraded with faster load times and performance so it's a great time to try out titles you missed out on the OG Switch

@John_Deacon we're not entitled. We're wondering why people are still complaining about this 3 years later when the horse was beaten to death after the first month. People complained, they likely weren't able to patch the game with the console power given to them (whether it was their code was bust, they had too many spawns which took up too many resources, who knows) and so now that they have the processing power, they're doing what they can.

They could've released nothing. Instead it's some sort of compensation, for free for the people who are getting a Switch 2. I don't see the issue of giving us something over nothing.

I will never defend the state the game released in because it was 100% incomplete and should not have released, but bro it's been 3 years if you don't want to play the game, don't play the game.

Easily the best story Pokemon games since Black/White 2 and now can replay it without it hopefully breaking. Hoping there's some overworld bugs fixed as well so a replay will be a smooth experience.

People commenting that you had to buy a whole new system to play it properly but if we're on NintendoLife we're all getting Switch 2's eventually anyway and it's a free patch so what's the issue here.

@HugoGED to be fair when you pick an art style that's ridiculously timeless and perfect for the genre it's hard to improve on it at face level. But when you look into polygon count and animation variety and the details on the tracks you start to notice how much better it looks, especially when we've only seen it through screenshots and Youtube compressed videos at this point. Can't wait!

@HugoGED simplistic doesn't mean bad. The game looks phenomenal. It's a cartoon racer, I don't know how they could improve on a whole ton more.

@sweetchuck a small minority on the internet doesn't really make much of a difference when it comes to Nintendo's decisions. The vast majority of people just want to turn the system on and click the game without even caring about the themes.

The only game I've wanted to replay is Colosseum so I'm already set. My only one "update" hope is that they change the physical/special split so some of the Pokemon are more usable but I'm not counting my breath (sorry Misdreavus and Feraligatr)

As someone who doesn't see the appeal of altering or modding games, I don't really see how Nintendo is in the wrong as all these commenters are saying

Say what you want about these games, the last hour or two in Area Zero with the story was worth it alone. Best story since the Black and White games (and S/M but they butchered Lusamine in USUM).

Visuals were obviously subpar but I'm not gonna blame Game Freak with their absymal time crunch nonsense the Pokemon games have to deal with, I'm just gonna hope they get more help next game maybe with Monolith Soft if they have the spare hands.

Fire Emblem if it recaptures Three Houses magic (or if we get a Switch 2 edition), Smash Bros because duh, I'm interested to see how they'll take on Zelda going forward too.

@PharoneTheGnome what do you mean what happened to it? I've seen about a hundred comments online about waiting at Gamestop to go get it and nobody having issues pre-oredering one. It's just more convenient for 99% of people to do it from home, especially when it's during a work day.

Got it after trying for 2 hours after midnight (Walmart Canada went outta stock after 45 mins) and spent 3 hours of the work day trying Staples and Best Buy and finally snagged one!

Walmart Canada hasn't even had the "Pre-Order" button available for almost an hour now bruhhh tell me Canada didn't sell out in an hour.

Anyone else in Canada wanna have a "refresh the page 50 times" party til 2am?
