Re: Sega Has Officially Cancelled Its "Super Game"

Gamer_Griff

SEGA should have focused more on Crazy Taxi 🚕 and Jet Set Radio than this so-called super game. You know, games that people are actually interested in and have been asking for. It's somewhat telling that, even while it's being canceled, they won't say what it actually was.

Re: Gallery: Here's A Look At Star Fox On Switch 2

Gamer_Griff

I'm reluctantly sold. The graphics look fantastic; I don't mind the new character designs. I like seeing the feathers on Falco. StarFox was the first game I bought for my SNES. I have played the SNES and N64 StarFox games a lot. I enjoy the arcade-style gameplay plus I like finding the branching paths. So the Switch 2 StarFox levels sound like prettier carbon copies of the N64 levels. I would have preferred a mix of old and new. So, I'm somewhat disappointed but still looking forward to playing it.

Re: PSA: You Can Get Star Fox's Switch 2 Physical Release For Just $50 (US)

Gamer_Griff

Historically, US pre-orders do not get discounted. However, within the last month, Splatoon Raiders, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and now the new(?) StarFox are $10 off each. The first two from Walmart only and Starfox from Walmart and Amazon. I usually wait for a sale before buying; it's nice not to have to wait. I notice that it's only first party Nintendo games so far. I've been hoping for a $10 discount on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but no signs of one yet.

Re: Nintendo Announces Sweeping Price Hikes For Switch 2

Gamer_Griff

I thought the US price was $50 too high when the Switch 2 was released. I bought one last year when my OG Switch died. Costco had the Mario Kart World bundle with a one-year expansion pass membership; the price was decent for the bundle. In light of the upcoming price increase, I'm glad I got it when I did. Plus, I've enjoyed my time with DK and Samus (but DK is more fun).

Re: Review: Constance (Switch) - A Beautiful Metroidvania With Something To Say

Gamer_Griff

I downloaded this and started playing based on this review. I definitely see the Hollow Knight influence as well as Epic Mickey, with the protagonist dripping paint upward and fighting with a big paint brush. I find the game challenging (but not brutally so) and beautiful; the hand-drawn animation is really nice. Thanks for the recommendation, Ryan.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?

Gamer_Griff

StarFox Zero looked nice but it was a remake of StarFox 64, which in turn was a remake of the original StarFox on SNES. It really had a feeling of "Been there; done that" but this time with frustrating controls. I hated the controls. I don't want to look away from my TV; I just wanted the classic StarFox control scheme. On the other hand, StarFox Guard, the free pack-in game that came with it, was absolutely delightful.
