Only just got into amiibos recently, got 4 at the moment and I'll be getting another 3 when Mario Party 10 comes out next month.
I honestly think there is a lot of potential for amiibos, even if we don't see its full potential by the end of the Wii U's or 3DS's life cycle it could set the standard on the next generation.
Getting much more into the Kirby games recently, my favourite Kirby games at the moment are Kirby's Blockball and Kirby's Dream Land which I owned on Gameboy and did not hesitate to download them on 3DS eShop.
Highly recommend Blockball to those who haven't played it and like Breakout style gameplay only better.
I will be picking up Kirby's Return to Dream Land on eShop, and I intend on picking up all the VC Kirby games at some point eventhough I've never played them but I know they will be great. HAL to me are just like Nintendo, you know they will be good quality games and you'll never be disappointed.
Picked up Smash Bros Melee on GC again on eBay yesterday aswell, as my original copy went missing. Thoroughly missed that game, can't wait to unlock all the characters and maps again!
Anyone in the UK who are complaining about GAME, I went into Tesco Extra about 4 days ago and found Wave 1 amiibos including Wii Fit Trainer, Fox and Marth, Tesco's price is very good aswell, all amiibos were £10.50
I've only just started collecting amiibos recently and definitely picked up Wii Fit Trainer and Marth as they are dicontinued amiibos now.
Just giving a shout out and saying that it is worth checking your local Tesco Extra stores, you might find rare Wave 1 amiibos at great prices. Unfortunately they only had Wave 1 amiibos so doesn't really help with the more recent ones.
Been playing this whenever I got the chance to and usually 2.5 hours has passed when I return to it so it works out well for me. I like that this game can function offline aswell which is great for me at work. The jewels are horribly expensive and there is no justification for buying them especially seeing as having buffs does not guarantee anything in this game, not that I'd ever do a microtransaction anyway.
I haven't played Link Battle/Trozei but I will consider picking it up if it's better than this game like everyone else has been saying.
Yikes, wasn't expecting this game to come out so suddenly. I'm downloading it right now, I probably won't play it much though if I can't play it when disconnected from the internet as I play my 3ds a lot when on break at work.
If the game is free to download and you have self control to ignore the micro transactions and can still enjoy the game then I don't see anything wrong with games like this. I don't see this becoming a trend with Nintendo especially as the majority on here are dead against F2P games, they are just trying new things that are clearly popular on smartphones, can't blame them for testing the waters can you?
No rush to buy Kirby to lock in the discount this time at least. I prefer to download things when I can comfortably afford to top up my credit rather than feel obliged to download it first week because of the deep discount.
I definitely will download it though as even at £17.99, the actual wii disc is worth nearly double that and I really want to play this. Wish it was £8.99 but the first 3 wii offerings were great and I understand that Nintendo cannot do this offer permanently. I'm happy with that.
@ShadJV Ah nice, thanks for clearing that up. I never actually watched the stream but remember someone on youtube summing it up as a whole and those 2 sections were definitely mentionned (Lt Surge gym and Safari Zone). Watching this stream, you do wonder how they ever ended up finishing it given that the input screen just looks like a random mess of different inputs, it's nice that the safari zone was cleared by voting in democracy.
Missed this completely the first time round. It's not really the sort of thing that interests me anyway. I did hear about the highlights of the last playthrough of Red though. Apparently it was hell getting through Lt Surge's gym with those switches and the Safari Zone got done somehow can't remember how though. Can't remember if they glitched that bit or not.
Isn't it against ebay policies to sell codes on the site?
I wouldn't exactly call this "rare" or "exclusive" either, then again I would never even contemplate selling on something which people can get for free if they look in the right place. It could also be against ebay's policy because it is misleading buyers technically.
Having been an achievement whore on the Xbox 360 since 2007 until recently, I've got this whole achievement thing out of my system for now. I do like the concept of collecting the stamps off of Wii U games though to be unlocked for use in the Miiverse though but I don't take them seriously.
Some people do want an achievements system on the Wii U implemented, and it would be a nice addition whether you care about them or not. There is clearly interest in them and it would possibly draw more people to the Wii U.
However, I feel chasing achievements can take the enjoyment out of a game, that's what eventually made me decide that I need to put my 360 to rest and come back to my Nintendo consoles.
I haven't played Tropical Freeze yet but I will pick it up eventually. I've only had a Wii U for 3 months so far and I'm overwhelmed because I haven't played any Wii games which were 2007 or later except Mario Party 8 & 9 so I'm playing catch up. I'm also replaying the SNES DK Country and will move onto the Wii DK Country Returns which came out a few weeks back on Wii U eshop.
This doesn't surprise me anymore, the BAFTAs are not worth giving a damn about. Never even watched it because I know I would be face palming all the way through them when I see the majority of awards go to the undeserving.
This is great news, Sonic Advance would be a day one buy for me. Never played the first one, only ever played Sonic Advance 2 back in the day. Would like to pick up 1 and 3 if they release them all.
I don't mind F2P personally, I like to play them but I absolutely refuse to spend any money on them. I'm patient and can wait for stamina/lives to restore as long as it takes, I'd just play something else while I wait.
It amazes me that you get these stories about F2P games where a child racks up a gigantic bill because a parent didn't child protect their card details on their tablet devices. Just goes to show how out of control these F2P games can get in the hands of these so called 'whales' as referred to above. Just hope Nintendo don't make these 'rookie' mistakes at the very least.
If Nintendo become too focused on F2P then I'd be against that however, it just degrades the quality of gaming in general as a whole. Saying that however, there are a few that do it right and make it clear they don't care so much on the microtransactions such that they would let it get in the way of the game itself.
Another thing I noticed on GAME, if you're intending to preorder Mario Party 10, GAME are offering Mario amiibo + Mario Party 10 bundle for £39.99 at the moment, seems like a good price given that Mario separately is £14.99! Snap preordered that as I will be getting MP10
It's good to see they are removing Club Nintendo, the system is a bit outdated now. I managed to get Game and Watch collection for DS and a Club Nintendo DS cartridge case with Nintendo sleeves from the UK Club Nintendo shop which I'm pleased with.
It's a good job I'm not saving up for anything now because I'm just converting my stars to Wii Shop credit whenever I can, although I have noticed the 100 Wii point card is out of stock now on there so I'll have to buy a higher denomination card when I know I have all the stars I'll ever possibly get. I'm at 1800 stars at the moment and one more game purchase will get me to 2000 which will be enough for 500 wii points, I know I will be buying Mario Party 10 in March and that should have a Club Nintendo code theoretically as it is before April.
I know Wii points aren't much use to some people but it's the only way to pick up some of the VC games at the moment and if Nintendo do re-release any which I download, I'll decide whether to upgrade or not. It's no biggie for me to go into Wii mode to access them I have plenty of classic controllers anyway.
Also for anyone who doesn't know, you can claim stars for digital downloads also on the UK club nintendo site, it gives you a link after you finish a survey (2nd one down below link to enter another code) and you can complete surveys for qualifying purchases from your download catalogue, you can only do this if you have linked your club account to your Nintendo ID though.
You can't get stars for VC downloads but you can get stars for download only games (like NES remix) and full games which you downloaded. I managed to get stars for NES remix 1 and 2 (50 stars each), Animal Crossing Plaza (which was free to download and is 50 stars! It's been delisted though), Super Mario 3d World (sale back at xmas 250 stars) and Super Luigi U (DLC add on for SMBU also 250!)
Never played DKCR on Wii so being able to pick it up for £9 is good for me. As much as people think these eshop releases of Wii games is not as good as releasing GCN or N64 games, I actually did miss out on a lot of Wii games as I wasn't playing games much back then as I was taking a bit of a break then. Despite this, I do cry out for N64 virtual console games every week! It's giving me the opportunity to play some games I missed out on and get them cheaper than I would have paid for a physical copy, especially the Nintendo franchise titles which are higher priced than the 3rd party titles. Looking forward to Kirby Return to Dreamland which is rare and pricey.
@Nintendobro Sadly it looks like the lack of mini games will be repeated in MP10 by the looks of it. One of the screenshots clearly shows mini game spaces are still on one of the boards, I'm glad to be honest that they made some mini games show up in the dice block boxes in MP9, that is kind of a saving grace, it would have been terrible if mini games were only achieved off mini game spaces. The games are shorter overall but that makes Mario Party appeal to a certain amount of my friends who had no interest in the series before so I can see why the series has change tack.
@ericwithcheese2 @beautifulstrong As someone who got Island Tour as part of the free game promotion, that game is really bad. The boards are so short on that game it's just plain sad. There is only one board on that game that is worth playing and that is the very first one. The only good thing for that game was everyone was moving individually which for some reason MP10 has omitted from everywhere except Amiibo party.
I personally like the challenge of taking these games and not even acknowledging the micro transactions. ie. completing the game without spending any money. My question is: will I have to have an internet connection at all times to play this game? The reason I ask is because I play 3DS at work a lot on breaks and there's no wi-fi there.
I don't mind free to play personally, if people want to drop money and complete a game quicker then that's their choice. Being a gamer by nature, I'd rather grind the game out and be patient when it comes to these sorts of games. If you have quite a few free to play games on the go at once, you can be distracted by the others which you haven't played yet that day while you wait for hearts/lives to be restored over time.
@Capt_N Second that comment, I've been begging for a virtual console release for Mario Party 3 for ages. Mario Party 1 won't happen due to the rotating stick games causing a stir but Mario Party 3 can still happen and it's a very good game. Try picking up that game on N64 nowadays, it is so expensive over here in Europe.
Going to have to get an amiibo now as I want to play the amiibo party in Mario Party 10. I could get the Toad amiibo as I have Treasure Tracker but the add on for that is so lame in my opinion.
I could get DK or Rosalina if possible but as long as I get a MP10 compatible one, I'll be ok.
The amiibo party mode has intrigued me and this is coming from someone who before now had no interest in owning one. Too bad it looks like Toadette is going to be omitted from this installment again, no mention of her as an amiibo eventhough she is also in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.
Making DK playable is a good thing, that is welcome after being absent from the last 5 Mario Parties!
The fact that you get different boards for different amiibos is interesting for me, I hope the boards are actually different and not just different colours with identical spaces.
But the best part is that they are bringing back Stars and Coins in the amiibo mode, Mini stars are just not as good in Mario Party. It's just one currency instead of two.
However I think amiibo party will fall short of my expectations because Mario Party 9 just lacked in the amount of mini games played, when I play Mario Party 1-8, when I set the amount of turns to 25 turns - I expect to play 25 mini games at least! Mario Party 9 is just 5 mini games and a few boss fights and it's over too quickly. Because of this, I think amiibo party will either have very few mini games or NO mini games at all. If I'm wrong and it does a mini game after each person has taken a turn then that's great but I'm not too hopeful that it will happen.
I was interested in picking up the SMG games so this is of interest to me. The Kirby Return to Dreamland is a welcome addition aswell as that game is extortionately expensive to pick up on disc in Europe. Might pick up Donkey Kong Country Returns aswell.
Guessing Mario Party 10 won't be mentioned in this Direct as it seems to be May/June 2015 as an approximate release date. A fresh Wii U loyalty promotion with 3DS also included is what I'm hoping for but it would be a long shot. I also couldn't vote in the poll.
Well the Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U offer is not as great as it looks, you can buy Super Mario Bros U for under £20 new in most places now and Super Luigi U can be downloaded to add on to the game from eshop for £17.99 (or 18.99 can't remember) so even then it's over £10 less than this offer. Bought Super Luigi U last week from eshop as it's much cheaper than buying the disc if you already have Super Mario Bros U.
Got Treasure Tracker preordered from Amazon so that will arrive at the weekend, can't wait for that game. Tempted by Shovel Knight at that sale price aswell. Nothing concrete at this point though.
This is coming from someone who has played every main series Pokémon game when they were released.
I have enjoyed most of them on release and couldn't put some of them down until I had beaten the Elite Four's every last Pokémon dead.
The ones I haven't enjoyed though are X/Y and OR/AS and that is because the games are too easy. I loved the challenge in Pokémon games and the earlier games had the tougher Elite Four lineups and Gym Leaders with overpowered Pokémon which could conquer most teams you'd have at that point in the game. There's too much hand holding in X/Y and OR/AS as in you're constantly being told where to go and there's no "work it out for yourself" mentality. While OR/AS was a great remake and added to the great features of R/S/E, the above has ruined the experience for me.
Because of the replay value quality of X/Y and OR/AS, I may not buy anymore of the games. I'm not very pleased that the Battle Frontier was left out of OR/AS either, that was a must if they were going to remake Gen 3.
The ones with the best replay value were HG/SS and B2/W2 in my opinion. Join Avenue and Black City/White Forest were great in B2/W2 and HG/SS had the Olympic minigame type things which were fun in multiplayer! The original R/S/E were also good in my opinion, the secret bases from other games appearing in my games when you traded with people was a great feature at the time.
I ended up voting HG/SS anyway and that has majority of the votes at the moment.
Voted for Super Mario Kart, if it wasn't for that game, I would not have bothered playing any of the others. Double Dash would have been a close second for me. Never really experienced MK64 back in its day so couldn't judge that one entirely.
@unrandomsam The VAT is actually 20% but because the entire price is "price of product" + VAT, the actual product price will 5/6ths of the full price including the VAT. Hence why it is 83% of the product price being used for the price basis for points.
At least I'll get another £5 off at Amazon, took part in a gift card promotion and got £5 voucher for it. Tempted to buy Super Smash Bros U now, already bought Super Mario 3d World on eshop sale today (£35) and upgraded my Super Mario Bros U with Luigi add on. Bought Sonic Lost World for £18.99 (which is a good price for that game) from Game on Xmas Eve aswell, might still be that price now. Too many good deals!
Only had a Wii U for a few months and only just got 1 code a few weeks back. I'm planning on picking up Super Mario 3d World while it's on offer on eshop from tomorrow (£35) and I'm also picking up Duck Hunt and MP Advance which will bring another £10, then I just need to pick up another £5 worth of content to get one last £5 code. Was quite impressed when I saw this when I got unboxed my Black Wii U (until I saw the expiry date of the promo was near) because I wasn't even aware of it and it didn't influence my decision to buy a Wii U, I mainly got it for the 32GB HDD because I knew I would be picking up a lot of VC content but this promotion was a small earner on top. I'm surprised they are stopping this promotion because it sure got me spending in the first few months of owning this awesome console! They will have to up their game on eshop releases now if they are intending on stopping this promo for good because sales are surely going to take a hit!
Duck Hunt, Mario Party Advance and Super Mario 3D World for me. Must say that despite the £35 price tag on 3D World, it is actually lower than any physical copy I've seen and the game is a year old. I was thinking of buying Super Smash Bros U after Christmas but I'm now going to wait a bit longer and play 3D World instead.
Also if and when N64 games ever do make it on to the Wii U VC, I'm hoping they will finally port Mario Party 3 aswell as Mario Party 2 is already on the Wii VC. The fact that Mario Party Advance has now been done may bring hope to that actually happening.
The rumble feature is not in this port sadly. The options has it displayed but it is off by default and cannot be changed. Plays really well on the gamepad despite this.
This was a great game for its time, I remember playing this on my GBA years ago and loved every minute of it. While the music was terrible mostly (especially on the SNES tracks), I highly recommend this game for those who haven't played it. There are some unique tracks on here like Cheese Land and Ribbon Road. There's even a track based on top of clouds from what I remember, can't remember the name though.
I hope the contests play out similarly to how they were in the original Ruby/Sapphire games because they were fun to play, it was a great side game to play when not raising/catching pokémon. I've not really been a fan of this dressing up pokémon contest format, preferred the strategic use of moves to impress the judges format. Only problem with that is they will have to reintroduce the extra pages on the Pokémon stats showing condition and how the move perform in contests, and Feebas initially evolved via maxed out Beauty condition before it had to be changed when Pokémon condition was removed.
Also hope the Trick House remains on Route 110 because that was a fun gimmick.
As usual, another Pokémon game which relies on online features to get maximum enjoyment and use of all advertised features. I'm getting this game based on how its metagame is anyway, if it's as lacking as X/Y when it comes to post game content then I'll give this game a miss. The battle frontier would more than win me over on this though, shame info on that has gone quiet though.
Great DLC line up, don't really mind that SNES Rainbow Road is there, it's one of my favourite tracks and I was quite disappointed to only see 1 SNES track on the entire MK8 list which is Donut Plains 3. Particularly liked the added touch of having Rupees instead of coins on the track on the Legend of Zelda Hyrule track.
Shame we have to wait 6 months for the Animal Crossing DLC as I am more stoked for that DLC than I was for this one.
As someone who owns the EU version of the download from the Eshop for TCG. You cannot use the multiplayer features at all, you can't even talk to the attendants at the desk for the multiplayer.

This is good for me, no one uses Streetpass around here.
I'm glad they addressed this for people who get nothing out of the Streetpass feature.

Re: Mario Party 10 Gets It Started With Wii U on 20th March
Re: Pokémon Shuffle is a Match-Three Game With Slightly Worrying Micro-Transactions
Re: Mario Party 10 Gets It Started With Wii U on 20th March
@Capt_N Second that comment, I've been begging for a virtual console release for Mario Party 3 for ages. Mario Party 1 won't happen due to the rotating stick games causing a stir but Mario Party 3 can still happen and it's a very good game.
Try picking up that game on N64 nowadays, it is so expensive over here in Europe.
Re: Project Treasure Is Bandai Namco's Wii U Exclusive Free-To-Play Co-Op Action Game
A free to play is always worth trying before passing judgement in my opinion.
Re: Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars Due in March and Will be Cross-Buy on Wii U and 3DS
Cross buy really interested me on this game. Having both the Wii U and 3DS version of a download is a huge thing for me.
Re: Nintendo Reveals New Range, Details and Compatibility for amiibo
Going to have to get an amiibo now as I want to play the amiibo party in Mario Party 10. I could get the Toad amiibo as I have Treasure Tracker but the add on for that is so lame in my opinion.
I could get DK or Rosalina if possible but as long as I get a MP10 compatible one, I'll be ok.
Re: Mario Party 10 Gets It Started With Wii U on 20th March
Re: Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop
I was interested in picking up the SMG games so this is of interest to me. The Kirby Return to Dreamland is a welcome addition aswell as that game is extortionately expensive to pick up on disc in Europe.
Might pick up Donkey Kong Country Returns aswell.
Re: Feature: Five Key Reveals We Want in 2015's First Nintendo Direct
Guessing Mario Party 10 won't be mentioned in this Direct as it seems to be May/June 2015 as an approximate release date.
A fresh Wii U loyalty promotion with 3DS also included is what I'm hoping for but it would be a long shot.
I also couldn't vote in the poll.
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st January (Europe)
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Pokémon Game?
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Mario Kart Game?
Voted for Super Mario Kart, if it wasn't for that game, I would not have bothered playing any of the others.
Double Dash would have been a close second for me.
Never really experienced MK64 back in its day so couldn't judge that one entirely.
Re: Reminder: The Nintendo Network Premium Promotion Ends on 31st December
@unrandomsam
The VAT is actually 20% but because the entire price is "price of product" + VAT, the actual product price will 5/6ths of the full price including the VAT. Hence why it is 83% of the product price being used for the price basis for points.
Re: Guide: The Hottest Boxing Day 2014 Deals for Wii U and 3DS
At least I'll get another £5 off at Amazon, took part in a gift card promotion and got £5 voucher for it.
Tempted to buy Super Smash Bros U now, already bought Super Mario 3d World on eshop sale today (£35) and upgraded my Super Mario Bros U with Luigi add on. Bought Sonic Lost World for £18.99 (which is a good price for that game) from Game on Xmas Eve aswell, might still be that price now.
Too many good deals!
Re: Reminder: The Nintendo Network Premium Promotion Ends on 31st December
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th December (Europe)
Re: Review: Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire (Wii U eShop / Game Boy Advance)
The rumble feature is not in this port sadly. The options has it displayed but it is off by default and cannot be changed. Plays really well on the gamepad despite this.
Re: Mario Kart: Super Circuit is Racing Onto The Wii U Virtual Console
This was a great game for its time, I remember playing this on my GBA years ago and loved every minute of it.
While the music was terrible mostly (especially on the SNES tracks), I highly recommend this game for those who haven't played it. There are some unique tracks on here like Cheese Land and Ribbon Road. There's even a track based on top of clouds from what I remember, can't remember the name though.
Re: Game Freak Emphasizes Its Ability to Go "In Depth" With Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
Re: Eon Ticket StreetPass Relay Announced for Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire in the UK
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 Hits on 13th November, Content and amiibo Details Confirmed
Re: Two Pokémon Game Boy Color Titles Dated For North American 3DS eShop
@AltDotNerd
As someone who owns the EU version of the download from the Eshop for TCG. You cannot use the multiplayer features at all, you can't even talk to the attendants at the desk for the multiplayer.
