Update:
It seems this title is coming out today in North America, as a trailer has been posted on YouTube:
Original Article:

While ambassadors of the 3DS have had their hands on Mario Kart: Super Circuit since 2011, the rest of the Nintendo community has been wondering when the Game Boy Advance title would receive a wider release on modern devices.
The ESRB has now revealed Super Circuit is making a return in the near future, with the game highly likely to receive a digital release as a Wii U Virtual Console title.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit was developed by Intelligent Systems and was originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2001. Outside of being the first ever Mario Kart game for a Nintendo handheld, one of the main selling points was the ability to unlock all of the tracks from the original Super Nintendo entry in the series, Super Mario Kart. In 2011, the GBA-hit was then re-released exclusively as part of the 3DS ambassador program.
To those of you in the US, keep an eye for a local release date soon, and to those of you outside of this region, be on the lookout for the usual classification updates indicating a launch date is not far off.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip.

The nice thing about Super Circuit is the crazy shortcuts you could pull in quite some tracks, especially the Rainbow Road shortcut that blows the N64 Rainbow Road "shortcut" out of the water in terms of impact.
I'd recommend this in spite of the poor-looking graphics relative to Super Mario Kart and the music - not that I'm knocking Kenichi Nishimaki, of course.
I think this used the same soundfont as both Advance Wars games on GBA, by the way.
Finally, I can race in Cheese Land again!
I've never played it so I'll get it sometime when it hits Europe.
I really enjoyed Super Circuit. The handling was better than SMK. I wish Nintendo would bring some of the more unique tracks over to retro cups. Cheese Land would be awesome, also that ribbon level...
Probably still my favourite Mario Kart!
Will local multiplayer work? Kind of a deal-breaker if it doesn't.
I'll just play it on my 3DS
Multiplayer will obviously not work. I don't see why they couldn't put two GBA screens side by side and emulate a link cable between them (does anyone remember the unlockable Game Gear games in Sonic Adventure DX that did this fine?) ... but Nintendo will probably never do this for whatever reason. Who knows.
Yo, how 'bout the 3DS, please.
I am just going to wait for the GBA Virtual Console on the 3DS... :/
Wait, I thought that there wasn't multiplayer in Gameboy games on Virtual Console because of the link cables. I mean, I'm still gonna check this out, but it's just something I realized.
Then you'll realise how difficult MK really was when you go back to this.
Give us N64 and GC games please.
Very underrated game. If you haven't bought Super Mario Kart, buy this instead. you get Super Circuit, and Super Mario Kart together for $7.99. The only problem is that the music for the SNES tracks are awful, so unless you REALLY hate bad music, then you'll only need this.
@Dipper723 I've always wanted this game but my parents wouldn't buy it for me.
@BlackSpy My reaction.
@LexKitteh Your Avi is cool!
YAY! I always wanted this game but only got to play it in stores or from friends.
Haha, take that Europe.
Never played this particular Mario Kart, but I always find it most fun when you play multiplayer. Without that option this really isn't something that will interest me unfortunately.
@Obito_Tennyson me too
and also i have this game for my GBA and GBA SP yeah i have two GBA models
@Yellowtails who cares about muitiplayer
here is my solution you play it first then pass it to you other person and they play it
@NintendoFan64 yes i think so it only on game gear and nes ones
@NintendoFan64 yes i think so it only on game gear and nes ones
@NintendoFan64 yes i think so it only on game gear and nes ones
cool! I haven't played this one.
Yay! I've been waiting for this to release on GBA VC. Now to hear it get confirmed for Australia.
Sweet! I was hoping they'd release this. I've never played it, but Super Mario Kart is still my favorite MK game after all these years, and this looks more like that one than any other game in the series. I'm excited to check it out.
Makes sense as the GBA support on Mario Kart 8 is almost nonexistent (only Mario Circuit).
I may get this because this was the first Mario Kart/Video game I ever played.
They should patch in Minish Cap Link.
I'd rather have donkey kong country
Stupid Nintendo of America
@Yellowtails Though if there was a possible proper multiplayer setup for GBA VC games then don't you think Nintendo would have released Pokemon games already. Release Yellow, Crystal or Emerald and then Wii U sales would dramatically rise.
This is my least favorite Mario Kart......then again I never played the DS or MK7. Something about Mario Kart on a hand held doesn't work for me. Maybe I'd enjoy it more on the Wii U but I have a lot of Mario Karting goodness from MK8 so I'm gonna pass on this
Of all the Mario Kart games, this was my absolute favorite and this one was the first to introduced Classic Tracks from the original, not just few but all of them.
So this means every Mario Kart is now available for a current Nintendo console, except Double Dash!! and the Arcade GP titles, I guess.
Eh, I'll just stick with the one on my 3DS. Still holding out a small shred of hope for DKC.
As handheld Mario Kart goes this was the best for sure but even this cannot compare to the genius of double dash. Would love to see some kind of doublw dash mode in Mario Kart maybe as dlc was a great idea.
This is on my Top 3 Mario Kart games, for sure. I got aquainted with Mario Kart on the N64, but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this amazing 3D game running on a Game Boy. It's the game that sold me the GBA (ok, alongside F-Zero and Metroid Fusion!). And Cheese Land is amazing, I would love a Mario Kart 8 remake of it.
@JJtheTexan I know technically you can still play MK64 on the Wii, but it hasn't officially come on the Wii U yet. I'm waiting for Double Dash myself.
should modified it so it can support local mulitplayer
Will add to my collection tonight;-)
I have it on my 3DS.
Even if I still had my WiiU, I wouldn't get it.
Honestly never played it..
This was a great game for its time, I remember playing this on my GBA years ago and loved every minute of it.
While the music was terrible mostly (especially on the SNES tracks), I highly recommend this game for those who haven't played it. There are some unique tracks on here like Cheese Land and Ribbon Road. There's even a track based on top of clouds from what I remember, can't remember the name though.
Until MK8 came along, which is magnificent btw, SMK was by far my favourite MK game. I've never been a fan of handhelds until 6 months ago so my favouritism is just for consoles.
Is MKSC just like SMK but with different trax or does it pale in comparison?
