Re: Memory Pak: Secret Of Mana's Dazzling World Of Colour Opened My Eyes

FirLocke

There really just something wonderful about the original secret of mana.I’ve started playing various mana games for the first time, as I’m looking forward to visions of mana. Jumping back and forth between the remake and original versions of secret makes me wish for a proper remake. While the existing remake fleshes out/corrects the writing, it’s not as cohesive as an overall experience, it’s too low budget and a bit buggy. And slower. Will be continuing the original on the Switch collection!

I’m looking forward to playing Sword of Mana (got my DS Lite ready and waiting 🤩) and might get to Trials a little later.

I tell you what though, Secret has really gotten me in the mood to play more colourful games. Outside of Secret, I’m playing Ever Oasis and Gravity Rush 2. Honestly, they feel like distant cousins to Secret with how vibrant, light and easy going they are! And all with the soundtracks to boot.

Re: Soapbox: It's The Summer Of Visual Novels On Switch, And It's Just The Beginning

It's a difficult genre for me to get into, as I do like to do things when I'm in the mood to game. That being said, I often love reading lots of text in my RPGs - Persona, Fire Emblem, the like - but they break up the dialogue with things to do. Quite looking forward to Ace Attorney Chronicles, and I loved Danganronpa 1 and 2 on the Vita (haven't gotten to V3).

But I've found it difficult to get into pure VNs. Tried Fata Morgana, CLANNAD, Muv-luv....I bounced off all of them. I've heard Raging Loop is good. It's still a genre I would still like to try more of.

Re: Talking Point: Our Favourites From E3 2021

FirLocke

Looking back on it, I actually loved their E3 presence.

Core games:

Shin Megami Tensei 5
Skyward Sword HD
No More Heroes 3
Metroid Dread

Variety/arcade:

Cruis'n Blast
Monkey Ball
Warioware

Visual Novel:

Ace Attorney Chronicles
Danganronpa Decadence

Tactics:

Advance Wars

And then others from around E3:

The Takeover physical from Limited Run. Never heard of the game before their show, it looks awesome.
Metal Slug Tactics. PC only for now and probably quite far away from release, but it'll surely be coming to Switch too.

Das a lotta games.

@Absworthy Yoooo! You're Not Alone is soooooo, so good. If I had to pick one song, it would be Sight of Spira/Spira Unplugged from FFX. I love it so much, so chill and yet hopeful. But there are so many others!!

Hey if you want I'll post my friend code, maybe we can have some versus matches!

Played some Theatrhythm Curtain Call yesterday, on my final batch of characters that I haven't gotten to lvl 99 before. It struck me that I've been playing this game for over 6 years now.

3DS will never die.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo GameCube

FirLocke

I honestly only got into the GameCube recently. I always wanted to play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, since the sequel - Radiant Dawn - is one of my favourite games ever. So I finally ponied up the cash to buy a (great condition) copy off of eBay, and there I was absolutely loving my first GameCube game. Since then, I've added a lot more to my library. Notably, Monkey Ball 1 & 2, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, F-Zero GX, the Baten Kaitos duo, Billy Hatcher, and a number of others. Still want to get Twin Snakes someday tho!

I also want to say that Nintendo releasing new GameCube controllers for the Smash games, official high capacity memory cards still being fairly easily available, and easy/cheap to find component cables for the Wii makes accessing the GameCube easier than expected too! The games still look pretty good via component on a modern TV.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the New Nintendo 2DS XL?

FirLocke

I absolutely love it and will quite possibly get one day one. My XL from 2013...Ain't in the best shape. I never used 3D, so this is the best option for me to replace my XL. Thank you very much Nintendo!

Also helps that it's looking like the most well designed DS in the entire line. That cover for the game card slot is a godsend, seriously. So not only is the functionality great, it's also super slick looking. No brainer for me!

Re: Soapbox: Why I Still Love the Wii U

FirLocke

I liked it too. In fact, I just came here after playing Splatoon online for 2 hours. It also didn't die on me like my PS4 did after 1.5 years of use. It also never sounded like a jet engine.

Re: Team Marie Triumphs in Splatoon's Final Splatfest

FirLocke

Came back to the game for this splatfest. Managed to play a fair bit on Friday night and it was beautiful. Missed Saturday but I did my best for team Callie. Have to say though, Splatoon has well hooked me in again. It's such a fantastic game. Hope to hear news of a sequel and the return of splatfests soon enough!

I sooooo miss ONM. 'Twas always fun reading their content and to see what nice goodies they packed in every month. Loved their passion for the more niche games like Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I still have the Wii Sports Resort frisbee somewhere! I've a number of issues of theirs, notably all of 2010 and on and off since then. It would have been awesome to see their coverage on Splatoon once it was out. The puns that could have been made! And perhaps a curation of every months best Mario Maker and Miiverse posts. Argh!

Coincidentally, I dug up a couple of their issues today after BotW made me hyped for Nintendo again which made me go down the Zelda rabbit hole....which then made me go down the Nintendo rabbit hole. I'm currently looking at the best way to play Mother 3, haha. If only ONM were still around so that I'd have a mini guide towards the end of an issue telling me how to do so!

Shout out to NGamer as well which turned into the awesome Nintendo Gamer for a short while. Miss you ONM!
