@topsekret I see your point. I’m just trying to bring perspective to the conversation because these Upgrade Packs are actually a better deal than having to repurchase games.

(Should some of them be free? Odyssey, 3D World, Captain Toad, Links Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom, ARMS, etc… all has free updates to take advantage of the Switch 2)

I’m just sick of the “greedy Nintendo” discourse because it intentionally omits part of the conversation to paint Nintendo as the worst company that’s ever lived.

Bought Mario Kart 8 on Wii U for $60? Buy it again on Switch for another $60. Same for NSMBU and Pikmin 3.

Compare that to these $5-$20 for Upgrade Packs.

these Galaxy releases have more work put into them than, let’s say, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (and are 20$ cheaper) but Nintendo’s communication failed to show that.

The NS1 uses hardware from 2014-2015 and is sold at a profit at 299.

Considering the NS2 won’t have bleeding edge hardware 349 to 399 seems very plausible and profitable.

@Lord it’s crazy how the First Look at the NS2 revealed barely anything other than the shape and retrocompatibility.

When you compare it to the 3DS, New 3DS, Wii U and Switch reveals, they revealed so much more… Nintendo is really holding its cards until April.

@JohnnyMind I think the C button is for Cast and will allow the unplugged Switch to cast its image to the dock and display it on TV, recreating the dual screen model. But let’s see.

I'll never understand these folks talking about "games as a source for escapism" getting mad that a minor trans representation in a game ruins their immersion while the 99.999% representation of straight cis relationships in games don't ruin their immersion. It's pretty evident where their discomfort lies and I think they'd better bring it to a therapist instead of pretending the problem is in the games they are playing.

Brazilian dubs are so well done. The latest Mario film with Chris Pratt was so off in English but perfectly italian blended in Brazilian Portuguese.

Time to unleash the NES Remix 40 bringing all the content from both games + Ultimate 3DS reissue + bonus content.

And all of a sudden Switch became the Metroid machine, with all mainline titles being (or soon becoming) available to play on the system.

I wanted to love this game more than I am, but apart from the gorgeous graphics, it does feel like a step down from the first game? I don't know... Less polished and even on "hard" mode, the free roaming system seems too permissive that I have to create artificial rules to make the game fair. (Still on island one, so I don't if it picks up)

This will be the Mario game of 2022 so count me in.

Splatoon 2 came out on a time where Splatoon 1 was still a fresh memory and many other cool games had my attention, so I kinda of missed on the online part of that game – came back later for the single player campaign and DLC.

Splatoon 3 had me hooked since the Splatfest Demo. Finished the single player and am enjoying the online battles as much as I did on Splatoon 1 (the new card game is fun too)

Literally unplayable cause it's missing the fantastic Brazilian reskin Mônica no Castelo do Dragão, done in the same vein as the DokiDokiPanic/SMB2 conversion.

The green pipes on the home screen look very Mario-ish for a Wario title. They should try using the same pink/purple to constrast and compliment with Wario's yellow and pink/purple.

GBA has such a sublime library, hope it makes its way into NSO

with its multiple iterations, the 3DS managed to stick around and outsell its competition being weaker and cheaper.

I know Switch is a different proposal and certainly a power beef has to be on its way (maybe in time for Zelda BOTW2 and Metroid Prime 4)

The problem I see now is that Switch has a great install base and, for most casuals, the current graphics are fine. How to introduce a beefed up Switch without alienating the current install base?

@Crono1973 Nintendo could essentially kill the scalpers market by making the high-demand products always available for purchase on their stores. Even when they are out of stock, more is on the way and a customer should be able to place an order (with a longer delivery date)

Nintendo knows how to bring "commodity fetishism" to another level when they release stuff no one can buy.

@Zag_Man you're right. the first is simpler and if they stick to PS3 specs, yes. but Rise (with all the Russian snow) and Shadow would be struggles.

The Last Revelations meets Captain Toad, good games but as far as the Switch can get.

It's crazy to think the reason Kingdom Hearts Colllection couldn't be handled natively by the Switch seems to be more related to storage than processing power (settings could be tuned in order to make it work on KH3)

taking back the DLC is just so low and bizarre I don't even know where to start.....................

being able to download upcoming DLC for free feels like a BRILLIANT selling point for the Expansion Pack tier but taking a digital good back after one year is just shallow and sad.

the New Leaf upgrade, essentially porting all the features from that game: Café, Boat Tour, Gyroyds, "the Mayor laws" and the complete Town area in form of the Open Market on Harv’s Island.

All that + farming and cooking.

Kid Icarus Uprising and Samus Returns would both benefit from the better dual-stick controller scheme on the Switch but Nintendo thought it was wiser to port MIITOPIA. oh well.
