Ninjala's Story Mode Trailer Shows Off Weapons, Levels And More

Lauching soon, exclusively on Switch

GungHo's Ninjala hits Switch soon, and the company has released a brand-new trailer which shows off elements of the recently-announced paid-for Story Mode DLC.

The footage shows off combat, new levels, weapons and much more. The main portion of the game is online and free-to-play, but this story element will cost around $10 to download and will be available at launch.

Ninjala is being positioned by GungHo as a Splatoon rival, and there's a definitely a similarity between the two when it comes to design, gameplay and general aesthetics. Will you be taking the plunge when Ninjala hits Switch on June 24th? Let us know with a comment.

Is that the story mode? It seems to be exactly the same as the multiplayer mode... So, what is it about? Just fighting?

I remember the game will also get a physical release in Japan, i wonder if i should import that.

Hear me out: If this game does well, then all 8 of the Ninja kids (Van, Berecca, Ron, Lucy, Burton, Emma, Kappei, and Jane) should be added to Smash via DLC Fighter pass like Bowser Jr/Koopalings. Their moveset would be pretty unique especially since we don't have many Ninja characters aside from Sheik (and not many people like her that much) and Greninja. Not very likely, but it'd be nice.

That aside, I'm excited to try this out. The style looks very Splatoon with combat similar to Shinobi Striker, so I'm all in!

@JR150 if they make the moveset actually standout and focus more on the bubblegums stuff instead of just being yet another Swordman that switch weapon around for the special move, i think it'll be a great addtion to the roster...

and yes... they shouldve added more ninja characther beside sheik... something unique... like a pokemon ninja.... it gotta be a something that could live on land, water and tree to give it that feel of ninja ability to traverse everywhere, it need to be a pokemon with a ninja style scarf.... and probably one that focus on speed.....
you know.... like accelgor.....

yep.. theres absolutely no other pokemon that fit that ninja trope.....

Okay in all fairness, Greninja has become a completely forgettable character to me because he's so finicky. And I also don't play Pokemon. XD

And I would suspect they would function similar to Inkling where they have weapons all over their kit. The primary things they use are classified as Katanas(though, they're more for striking than slicing), Hammers, and Yo-yos. I think it'd be pretty cool to see how it'd be implemented.

I'm almost sure that this is not the story mode trailer, but simply a trailer for the game

@JR150 As has been said the DLC characters were already picked. But since Ninjala is a (new) Nintendo franchise I wouldn’t be surprised if it got a later slot on the roster. It wouldn’t be the first time an unreleased game build was given to Miyamoto to play so that he could do Smash research.
