Re: Preview: Getting Inside The Curiously Undemanding World Of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

EllenJMiller

Designing my house was the main appeal of the AC games for me, so being able to design the houses of others makes this the kind of game that really appeals to me. I also like that it doesn't limit you too much, some may see it as a lack of challenge but I see it as an opportunity to really flex design muscles and make something great without being too limited by a request mechanic.

Re: Itagaki Accepts "Fair" Devil's Third Criticism But Feels Online Modes Haven't Been Reviewed Properly

The game wasn't anywhere as bad as the reviews I've seen made out. I had a blast with it. Beat single player, continuing to enjoy multiplayer. I'm not going to say the people doing reviews were wrong, just that it's another example of how what I think of games just doesn't match up with what others do.

I've not bought any golden eggs, just used the ones I've gotten from multiplayer and beating the single player mode. Most of the things I've seen people buy with eggs are the more outlandish costumes. I used the 30 I was initially given to get a nice little outfit assembled.

Honestly, I'm glad I didn't let reviews deter me.

@Ryu_Niiyama I used the Gamepad with the Default control scheme, I know Itagaki recommended the Wii U Pro Controller.

I didn't notice any difficulties with it. I don't have a Pro Controller to try and compare to, sadly.

I've put in a fair few hours into both the single player and the multiplayer and...

I'm glad I bought it. Yeah, there's jank, but after playing games for a quarter of a century, I can live with some jank if it's great elsewhere. Liking the single player story, @Udders78 is bang on with the 80s action flick vibe. Online is great fun, the customization is cool for characters and there's some rather fun game modes.

Glad I got it. A welcome addition to my groaning shelves.

Re: What Can be Said About This SENRAN KAGURA 2: Deep Crimson Collector's Edition Unboxing?

EllenJMiller

Can't wait for my Happy Boobs edition to arrive. Want that soundtrack! And, y'know, the game. But I'm a sucker for soundtracks.

And I'm firmly in the camp of "Don't like, don't buy." I won't have hand-wringing authoritarians telling me what I should find offensive or problematic, and I certainly won't have them preventing me from playing a game because they find it 'toxic' or whatever BS they're spouting.

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Future of Nintendo Direct and Beyond for Reaching Old and New Fans

EllenJMiller

Big websites will cover the contents of the direct regardless, so I'd rather have Nintendo talk to me rather than talking to some journalists who will then write up about how problematic and toxic they feel Nintendo are, how they're doomed to fail because reasons (oh and here's some news that you were actually looking for).

I hope they keep the 'directly' gesture, because it was never an Iwata-exclusive thing. Many people on the Directs have used it, and it perfectly sums up what they do with the broadcasts. Have Morimoto cover Japan, Reggie and Bill cover the US, and have them sometimes make appearances on the EU stream with Shibata.

Re: Ninterview: Dave Higgins And The Quest For A Complete European Game Boy Library

EllenJMiller

I could never go for a 'complete' set for a console, there's too many games I don't care about. But it's a damn cool collection. Personally I'm working towards assembling the best Wii collection that I can with all the games I find neat, fun and interesting. Mostly European, but with some JP and US imports. Got Zangeki no REGINLEIV, Earth Seeker, and Captain Rainbow on the way from Japan, which just leaves Project Zero 4 currently. Yet to order any US games for it, but Fishing Resort, Excite Bots and Kirby's Dream Collection are likely targets.
