The beginning of a new week brings us the European Nintendo Download Update, and this week brings some interesting option. On the Wii U we have a critically acclaimed and stylish puzzle title along with a heavily updated budget release and a DS game, while on 3DS we have the latest SEGA 3D Classic, a Minecraft-inspired release and a couple of demos. Let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
The Bridge (The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild, €9.99 / £8.99) - An intriguing puzzle title long on the wishlists of some, this has been critically acclaimed on PC in particular. In addition to an eye-catching visual design its puzzles play around with perception and gravity; we'll bring you a review soon.
ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimensions! (ZeNfA Productions, €1.49 / £1.14 until 27th August, then €2.99 / £2.29) - In comparison to the original release in North America - which will have its own update with extra content - this European version will have "several new maps, game modes, weapons, enemies, online leaderboard, Miiverse integration, stable 60 FPS gameplay and more additions". We were fairly critical in our original review, though those on the fence can consider whether the low price and subsequent updates increase its appeal.
Wii U Virtual Console
Wario: Master of Disguise (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - The latest DS game to make its way to the Wii U, in this case a quirky combination of platformer and mini-games as Wario plays the thief in 'TV episodes'. While it may sound like a fun idea, we slammed this for multiple issues in our original Wario: Master of Disguise review.
Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
Rock Zombie (EnjoyUp Games, €3.99 / £3.59 until 17th September, normally €6.99 / £6.29)

3DS eShop
3D Gunstar Heroes (SEGA, €4.99 / £4.49) - An iconic Mega Drive release gets the treatment from M2, with this one being one of the games that established Treasure as an elite arcade-style developer. This colourful run-and-gun game has additional options such as double life and Mega Life to help players reach the end, in addition to local multiplayer. We'll dive in to bring you a review.
Cube Creator 3D (Big John Games, €7.50 / £5.25) - This aims to satisfy two camps in the world of Minecraft-style experiences - in Survival Mode you do the usual exploring, crafting and fighting to stay alive. Creation Mode allows you to create your own worlds and share screens via Miiverse, with various environments to mess around with. It's had some updates since originally launching in North America, and we gave this a recommendation in our Cube Creator 3D review.

Nothing this week but given Mega Man & Bass is apparently one of the hardest Mega Man games it doesn't matter.
For a moment I thought we got Gunstar Future Heroes for GBA. I loved the original and I've played the sequel a little and it is just as much fun.
Where are all the Wii U eshop discounts? It's just the same poopy games on discount week after week. - Which means nobody wants them.
Some interesting option huh? I think you dropped an 'S' guys.
Another chance for me to try and save people from abyss. That is one crappy, crappy title.
These sales is as repetitive as Microsoft "Xbox" sales.
I'm thinking about getting 3D Gunstar Heroes but that's all. Still really nothing worth getting.
If you don't get Gunstar Heroes you aren't a gamer
Gunstar Heroes and Hatsune Miku demo for me.
Gunstar Heroes and the Hatsune Miku demo for sure.
Hmm, I guess I should get around to playing The Bridge at some point. It has been sitting in my Steam Library unloved for far too long.
I WANTED WARIOWARE TWISTED!!!!!! DX!!!!
Miku demo first then Gunstar Heroes.
Hoping I don't have to wait too long before Lord of Magna goes on sale.
Hatsune Miku Project Mirai demo for absolute sure, certainly my most anticipated game for the year.
Should help pass the time over the next few weeks til it's release..although I'll probably have used up all the demo plays for it well by then aha.
As the first real MC clone on 3DS in EU, I expect CC3D to do well. Does anyone knows if they plan to bring online multiplayer to this?
I was expecting Sonic 2 this week, not gunstar heroes, But I love the GBA Gunstar game so I will be getting this as well.
Heck yeah, Gunstar Heroes!
I'll be getting Wario. While it had some issues I didn't think it was a bad game
I know I shouldn't be so negative but is anyone else getting a bit sick of year+ old games from Steam appearing on the eShop for ridiculous prices? The Bridge can be picked up so cheap during Steam sales...
Oh, yeah, Gunstar Heroes all the way
Don't wanna sound like a broken record but Mario Tennis is still missing
3d Gunstar Heroes
The thing about Wario master of Disguise is I remember hearing the European release was a lot better when it came to the recognition on the touch screen. Which makes a paragraph of the old review a little less relevant. Still the other issues do remain.
It could be turned into an interesting co-op game a little easier than you could on the DS I guess.
Love the 3D classics. Nintendo could of done something similar with the Snes games... Missed opportunity I feel. Looks like our Nintendolife reads all love the SEGA classics too
Nothing for me this week. Again again again again...!
@erv I can tell you, from my 30+ years of gaming, that I've seen much, much worse. I bought it and enjoyed every minute of it, once you get the hang of the thrust-like controls, it's actually quite addictive. It reminded me of some C64/Amiga games too, that's probably why I liked it so much.
Gunstar heroes no doubt.
Will get the miku demo, I have already got the full miku game for Japanese 3DS and have played through it loads.
Will double dip for sure though.
@andrea987
They do. I just read about that right here:
http://www.bigjohngames.com/news/cube-creator-3d-version-11-free-update-coming-soon
I don't know if I should buy this game. I liked to play Minecraft on PC and would love to spend an hour here and there in such a game on my 3DS. But it "only" got a 7 from Nintendo Life and some other sites, too. It clearly can be more with future updates. But when will they come? And will they come at all?
Master of Disguise? Why, Nintendo? Why do you bring back one of your worst DS games? Why do you not pretend it doesn't exist?
gunstar heroes and thats about it, With all the games that Nintendo could put on Virtual console why master of disguise,Give me Mario RPG nintendo,Oh and get permission from square to put Chrono Trigger on to.
might give the Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX demo a go
Already own the 3 things I would be interested in (The Bridge, Wario and Gunstar Heroes) so nothing for me this week.
Again :/
@superKsonic48 I expect it'll be a eshop bonus for getting Ultra Smash in Europe.
Seriously...Master of Disguise? That is the worst Wario game ever. Why can't they just give us Wario Land: Shake It instead??
@davidevoid
But you know WHY Steam sales basically give games away, right?
I could EASILY pirate any game on Steam today. ANY game.
It's rewarding those who pick them up legitimately.
Humble Bundles are pretty much exactly the same way. Rewarding players who game legitimately.
Humble Bundles have come to consoles, yes, but they're always more expensive.
That and the cost for a machine that can play every Steam game is 2-4x as expensive as a console.
You need to reward PC gamers for their honesty now a days, if you don't, they just get mad and steal everything.
i'll download the demo, that's all.
Is there no demo for Cube Life? That sucks. Also, does anybody know when we're getting 3D Sonic 2?
@SahashraLA Most moderately new PCs and laptops could easily play games such as The Bridge, Binding of Isaac and Never Alone so I don't think the cost of the machine is much to do with it.
To me the experience of playing these games on a computer with a 360 pad when compared to playing them on a Wii U is incredibly minimal. At least if they were on the 3DS you have (potentially) 3D added to the games and the games become portable but when these games come to the Wii U way after PC it feels pretty deflated.
The more indie games on the Wii U the better but it is in desperate need of show stopping exclusives.
Meh... just meh.... no interesting discounts on e-shop and nothing new or interesting on digital delivery on WiiU side....
If it wasn't for my evening session on Mario Kart with my girlfriend I would already sell this dust-collector....
@Tisteg80 Thanks for the info! Well, apparently they already done a bunch of updates, so...let's hope, anyway. If not, we'll pester them until they do! XD
3D Gunstar Heroes hands down
Hatsune Miku demo it is. ^_^
@BigBabyPeach Well on the plus side, the Wii games are the only Wario games left they can put on the Wii U eShop (I know there's Warioware Twisted, but I don't think that'll be a straight porting job for that one. Yeah the gamepad has Gyro but you have to ensure the game actually works well using it and such which is why unless they're will to put the work into port it, I doubt it's coming...)
USA BETTER get gunstar heroes this Thursday or i will launch my seeker+lighting in the NoA building.
@Rixor13 NoA isn't responsible for Gunstar Heroes though. That's on Sega. Sega chooses the release date.
Master of Disguise? Why, Nintendo? Why do you bring back one of your worst DS games? Why do you not pretend it doesn't exist?
Seriously...Master of Disguise? That is the worst Wario game ever. Why can't they just give us Wario Land: Shake It instead??
Because who would download Master of Disguise if Shake It was available? Nobody! This way they're going to make some money out of putting Master of Disguise on the eshop. Besides, it exists so on it goes regardless of quality. I won't download it though.
Meanwhile in America...
hurray.......cube creator 3d released in europe...... there should be dancing in the streets.....
Almost time to box up my Wii U...
Wow... the downloads are so bare these days, everything people have ever complained about previously seems plentiful
Go go go Gunstar Heroes! Sega I love you! Is it just me or is Sega the best Classic 3d game dev.....,Oh wait! They are the only Classic 3d game dev. I have this feeling that Classic 3d games will be dead soon just like the VC on 3DS. If Sega doesn't do another run of games this could be it. Nintendo, konami! Where are you? Didn't konami just get bought? I'm hoping whoever bought them will bring the pcengine gsames to Classic 3D. At least bring them to VC. Bonk would look great in Classic 3D though.
Too bad. Releasing GBA and DS games is Nintendo's idea of showing the VC love. And the handheld titles look far better on a large screen HD TV than NES and SNES games do. I can't even play Gradius on my big HD TV because the screen keeps going dark.
I hope whoever tries out ZaciSa, likes it.
@bitleman I like where your heads at man. I'm buying as soon as it hits North America. I was hoping to see Europe get Gotcha Racing this week. I've been waiting and I'm excited to play it. I know where getting close it was supposed to release ahead of the tank game which came out last week
@erv Abyss is pretty good. I had a lot of fun with it while it lasted.
miku!
Well looks like those (crappy week) comments can be silenced this week, lets hope for the same in the NA.
Absolutely nothing even remotely interests me this week.
@Hero-of-WiiU SoA posted on twitter that 3D Gunstar Heroes is coming this week and Freedom Planet WiiU is also slated for the 20th. I read the WiiU version of Woah Dave (cross buy with the 3DS version) should be coming too.
3D! GUNSTAR! HEROES!
@Jaunty it's funny how many of the advantages people shared in my reply to not liking abyss are disadvantages to me. It's not my kind of thing, I guess, so all the more luck to those who seem to enjoy it:)
@Bloodix Am really enjoying it! And I totally think it's well better then review Nintendo Life gave it!
Thats why sometimes better to not judge game till played it!
@Tate24 Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it.
To be fair to Nintendo Life, their review was of an much earlier version that had it's fair share of issues, to say the least, so I actually worked on it a lot and improved it a great deal, esp when it comes to performance.
Just downloading Darksiders II, which is still on sale. Completely missed all the hype for that, since I didn't get a Wii U until way after launch. Great to discover another gem. And at a decent price point.
Considering The Bridge too. Trying to buy stuff on sale since I've got a massive backlog and not in a hurry.
