Re: Video: Take a Look at All of the 3DS HOME Menu Themes

Drawdler

I'm using Mario Stamped Felt/Branded Wood and Zelda: 2 Worlds. I think I prefer how the Mario themes look, but the sound effects on the Zelda one are much cooler.
Default Blue actually goes pretty decent with my Blue XL, so I might use that once in a while.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2014 - Fall Edition

@IceClimbers Didn't something similar happen with the Wii? It had a couple years of nothing notable, then during the last one, a couple of amazing games.
It seems like nothing is happening next year for the 3DS. Hope I'm wrong and the N3DS renews developer interest a little, or something.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2014 - Fall Edition

Smash 3DS is the only game which impressed me this year on handheld or home console. What a disappointing year.

I'm looking forward to NES Remix and Shovel Knight, but not that much.

I'm getting Pokémon, but X and Y were kind of disappointing, and I'm expecting ORAS to inherit some of their bigger problems. I'm interested in them as a nostalgic romp, but I got bored of XY's online a while ago and I think I'll hardly touch ORAS once I beat it, unless the single player postgame is much better.

@rjejr I know you're suggesting it because it's big and not nessicarily for its merit, but Trap Team 3DS is okay. The first time around it's fairly entertaining, but like Giants/SWAP Force on the 3DS, it has so many cutscenes you're forced to watch when you want to replay it and those really bog it down, plus there are more slow puzzles. The controls feel just as sluggish. None of the puzzles or platforming sections are memorable and neither is the combat (with the latter, it's partly because of the controls, which can make fighting uncomfortable and slow).
NWR have a good review I largely agree with. It's not even the best option for on-the-go Skylanders, because the tablet edition of the full game is available.
I'd say it's better than SF 3DS, but I wouldn't recommend it much more than that game. Get it if you already like Skylanders and want another story to go through- otherwise, you can safely skip it.

Re: Guide: How to Unlock the Full Roster in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Drawdler

@dkxcalibur I've been using:

L- Shield
R-Grab
X- Special attack
Y-Jab attack
B/A- Jump
Tap-Jump OFF

Smash attacks are still really awkward to execute, but I've found this MUCH better than the default control scheme.
Depending on how often you shield/grab, you may want to switch them with this control scheme. I find it more natural to tap L and shield more.

Re: Video: Wii U Skylanders Trap Team Gets First Full Showing At EGX 2014

To be honest, this seems like a downgrade more than an upgrade, with the seeming lack of extra modes (aside from Kaos Mode, which doesn't look like it'll add as much variety as the new modes in SF did)... I'm pretty disappointed about this game and the reviews seem to echo my concerns, regardless of high scores. I'm really sad about what they did with Story Scrolls

Re: Club Nintendo Members In Australia To Receive Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Demo Via Exclusive Email

Drawdler

Oh, good for us! I doubt I'll get a code for it (had an account for years but I've never used CN), although I'm certainly not upset about it. I'm really glad we're getting more attention lately.

@iphys I'm not going to use it but I've wanted a 2DS because it's one of the few Nintendo consoles I don't own any version of, so this is a good oppurtunity. I'll definitely get the blue one (colour + lights looks more like Kyogre than the red one looks like Groudon, also the red low battery light would be more noticeable).

Re: Nintendo Direct: New Nintendo 3DS Models Coming to Australia and New Zealand on 21st November

Drawdler

Oh my god! For once, a release date has made me really excited! And it's at a good price!
Metallic Blue XL at launch, baby! Hopefully the amiibos launch before/just a little after this so we can use them with Smash 3DS.

@3dcaleb Gamestuffs cost more for us anyway, from what I hear the original 3DS was $150 there and $250 here, which I believe was disproportional with price conversions. (Of course, that's ignoring extra cost added from shipping, but I have no idea about that.)

Re: Rumour: Secret Chant Within Super Smash Bros. 3DS Hints At Last-Minute Withdrawal Of The Ice Climbers

Drawdler

"Rumour"? These were found in the game files too.

I would be happy if they were in the Wii U version. In a way it'd suck, since I get to play my 3DS way more, but Nana & Popo are some of my favourite Smash characters and I wouldn't be upset if they were Wii U exclusive. They had trouble getting Nana and Popo to work with the 3DS. Ice Climbers would have a legitimate reason to be U-only.

Re: Nintendo Patent Hints at Pokémon Standalone Console With NFC Support

Drawdler

Yawn. Still waiting to see a use of TTL that makes sense in the context of the game world and feel immersive, rather than being slapped on. Skylanders had it in the first game, lost it after. Considering amiibo doesn't have that and pretty much every other TTL game doesn't, I'm not hopeful, but maybe that's me being a cynic because I'm annoyed this morning.

Re: Impending Japanese Launch Of Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS Brings New Character Reveals

Drawdler

@SamirMalik But he fights with his Silver Bow in actual battles. And I never played Pit and don't know his moveset, but I hear everyone saying he's a clone. He only shows off his staff in his victory pose (and possibly Final Smash, which I haven't seen yet).

Anyway, I'm super glad to finally see Duck Hunt's render! I only want to see the complete roster and better shots of leaked character renders.

Re: UK And Australian Pricing For Nintendo's Amiibo Figure Range Is Confirmed

Drawdler

@rjejr I really hope that Nintendo don't do any amiibo reposes with extra features like Skylanders did with giving reposes path-switching and an extra upgrade. They're already going to be doing multiple versions of characters for different games, it seems, which is probably enough to keep characters people need for amiibo features in circulation. I like how Disney Infinity has no repose rubbish (granted it has worse content-locking than Skylanders with Power Discs and the chests in-game).
