Hyrule Warriors was released in North America today, but the limited edition was for an undisclosed reason only available in the Nintendo World Store in New York. This peculiar move caused eager fans to queue through the night in order to have a chance at owning a copy.

Copies were so limited that staff handed out wristbands to those in the queue in order to prevent disappointment for those who arrived later than others. Unfortunately there was a small excess of wristbands meaning certain unlucky individuals were forced to buy the standard edition instead.

Demand is so high for this version of the game that copies on eBay have bids of hundreds of dollars already, and many copies are listed with a buy-it-now price of hundreds and even thousands of dollars.

Nintendo's decision to limit the release only to one shop is even stranger when considered that distribution throughout the UK and Japan has been more typical, being available from most larger retailers.
