Re: 3DS Disney Infinity Name And Details Revealed

Drawdler

Aww man, that sort of makes me afraid... Party games tend to be the ones which are shovel ware, and considering that this is a companion of a much larger console game... It sounds like it has potential if they do it right, but I'm still very wary. At least it's something different I guess.
@Shiryu The console versions have TRON vehicles you can ride by using hex discs, though...

Re: Talking Point: The Next-Gen Console War is Wii U's to Lose

Drawdler

Well-written article.
I'm curious to see how Ninty handle the future. I'm sure that they can survive, but can they win back their niche? Or get a new one? I don't think that they will be able to compete as a "next-gen" console- not that I am unhappy with them personally- but the way people percieve them is very different these days. Their console is [pure-horsepower-wise] weaker than PS4Box will be(like they will be to PC, but PCs aren't of huge importance in this matter yet). I don't think that they should have acted that way... You can't change who you are.
Unless they really screw up, though, I don't think any of the Big 3 will -die- this gen. Exception possibly being Microsoft, if they make their Durango online-only(this would be a problem more than people who do have a steady connection constantly might think, because believe it or not, there are people who don't), but they will of course only die as a console-hardware-maker in that case.

One more thing, and this is very personal, it really peeves me when US people say that $250 was a big price tag for the 3DS... It was $350 at launch here and from what I saw last year $200 is usually our sale price for the regular one! .-.

@MadAussieBloke your pic cracked me up, and while I was in a bad mood, so thanks

Re: Talking Point: An Open Letter To Nintendo

Drawdler

Of course Nintendo are not perfect, because perfection does not exist. Nintendo may not have "next-gen graphics", or the games other consoles get sometimes, but does PS360 have- for example- Mighty Switch Force!, Professor Layton, the newer Monster Hunter games, and Nintendo's features like Miiverse, Dual Screen, and the GamePad? No. I play Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games and I play my other consoles for other games.
Stop worrying about what you don't get, instead, strive to get it- buy a Wii U AND a PS360, or whatever floats your boat, if you want both sides that badly. And sit down and play the games you do have. I still haven't beaten some of my games from 2012(and don't get me started on COMPLETING them).
I'm not saying Nintendo's strategy will forever be absolutely fine, but I think gamers these days are focusing too much on which games each console gets, and forgetting to play the games that they have.

... Of course, I'm sure seeing this makes Nintendo strive more, so keep at it, Big N! :3

Re: Talking Point: Review Scores and Unwinnable Arguments

Drawdler

I only read reviews for fun. The only time a review will influence my attitude towards a game is when it's a very positive one for a game I would have completely ignored(I.E. Gunman Clive), and that only motivates me to see the community reaction which is what I prefer to get impressions from.

Re: Wii Mini Is Hitting The UK On March 22nd

Drawdler

Still waiting for Australian confirmation so that I can add this to my collection. I think that I'm only missing SNES, Virtual Boy, GBA Micro and DSi XL of the really major ones now so I may as well get a Mini to keep.
I need a SNES first though.

Re: The European Version Of F-Zero On Wii U Virtual Console Comes With 60Hz Support

Drawdler

I'm indifferent because it finally means that the people who wanted it are happier now, I just wish that it were an option. I haven't played any SNES games besides Yoshi's Island's GBA port via the 3DS Ambassador Program so I don't actually get nostalgia from it, but I do wish that they would offer the 50hz option as I like playing games in their "original version".
I'm probably one of the only people here who thinks so though

Re: Activision: New Skylanders Portal Of Power Down To "New Functionality"

Drawdler

Wow. What the heck are people so upset about buying the concept of a new Portal for?! It'll probably only make the game cost the same Spyro's Adventure and the Giants Starter did. I actually prefer the looks of the new Portal. It looks much nicer and sleeker to me. I'll probably purchase one from Customer Support even if I don't get the game(provided it works with Giants and Spyro's Adventure)...

By the way, everyone wondering wether the new Portal will work with the old game, just give up until the game is out unless you're willing to dig around for information for a while... Activision barely give new information to anyone but this Family Gamer guy and he doesn't often ask questions people would like the answer to(he didn't ask wether Swap Force would have Adventure Packs return- One of Swords did). They even gave him an Arbo figurine that was only produced by prototype and several variant toys for free. They don't do anything like that for anyone else.

@rjejr Well, 1. Ninjini will be out in America on the 22nd, and 2. they DO need to make stock without assistance of magical pew pew laser fairy spells. Would you rather have her and everyone else be out in very low stock or wait to have better stock of them? Because I'd most certainly prefer the latter.
In fact, this is a real issue in Australia, everyone except Big W has had low stock of everything beyond the first wave and they even lose theirs within a week or two. I am quite mad with them too, though, as the country-exclusivities they do all the time urinate me off and they never restock anything that's actually new. We haven't had any exclusives of our own, to rub salt into the wound. I won't ask my parents to buy the next game for me just because Activision treat the consumers of the franchise like dirt. Oh hi Disney Infinity

Re: Masahiro Sakurai: Stories in Video Games Can be "Irksome"

Drawdler

Video games are video games. Not books.
I think that in this day and age, too many developers try to set their creations apart by putting big stories in their games- but not actually making them interesting to play, or giving them plain not great stories. May as well go and make a movie.
There are places for cinematic and story-heavy games, but I don't think that many games have struck the proper balances of them while providing an actually interesting story and good gameplay as well.
It's one of the reasons that I love Nintendo- they just do what they do well: make a good old fashioned game. I don't get interrupted by cutscenes every level in their games, and when I do, they're entertaining to watch and don't feel disruptive anyway.

Re: Review: Wreck-It Ralph (3DS)

Drawdler

Guys, please play the iOS game. It wrecks! cricket chirping
I've seen videos on YouTube and it doesn't look insufferable to play, but it also seems really plain and I've heard it's ridiculously short. I think I might buy it if it goes on drop-sale or I find a pre-owned copy, but as a massive sucker of the franchise, I think I'll keep this one in the Fungeon for now.
