Just a few niggles to sort out that happens with every launch console, after that the Wii U will fast be on its way to being my personal favorite console. And that's really saying something because I own 6 DS Lites. Seriously, all I could say was just really positive stuff about it.
Utterly ecstatic about this game. I saw how Ninty decided to be sneaky and make sure the a wider audience knew about the game- so that more 3DS systems will finally sell... BRING ON THE STREETPASS HITS!
@Rargon By the time X and Y release, it will have been just over three years since Black and White were released in Japan. @DarkNinja9 At least they aren't more dragons. I liked Reshiram and Zekrom more but at least these ones are more original.
@doctor_doak allow me to quote myself. Don't forget in Giants the Giants cost more money than regular figures... HOWEVER- You only need eight of the figures to 100% the game. One from every of the Eight Elements plus a Giant(which can at the same time count as one of those eight). So let's see, if you bought Starter Pack Giants on the console for $70 which I believe is the RRP for it now, you get Tree Rex the Life Giant, Cynder the Undead dragon and Jet-Vac the Air birdthingy, covering 3/8 Elements. Triple Packs in Aus are, I believe, $25 at the moment which means you can buy Triple LightCore Prism Break/LightCore Eruptor/LightCore Drobot and Triple Gill Grunt/Flashwing/Double Trouble for around $50. Not factoring in Adventure Packs which are discontinued right now anyway (AND can be used to fill in the gaps for Earth/Water/Fire/Undead, thus leaving you miffed of Tech and Magic which you can fulfill with Triple Pop Fizz/Whirlwind/Trigger Happy) saying that you need to pay $160 on top of the game to access the rest of the locked areas is a huge exaggeration. Also, the figures tend to go on sale a lot as well. However, as an avid fan and the original Sprocket fanbrat I will say this: it's not really worth that much either unless you really, really love it
I'm happy as long as the next mainstream game is on the 3DS, but regarding this announcement, for all we know it could be anything. Sure they're making a big deal about it, but it's not nessecarily a new game because of that. Anyway, I'll watch this fr the heck of it, nothing else to do...
I'll buy it if they add compatibility for Minecraft but it's a pass otherwise.
And what the heck is with all the new consoles lately?!?! Coming up next: LG portable gaming machine and microwave in one!
I'm glad that they decided to stand up for themselves, because I'm tired of hearing people going "but you said you were going to abandon Nintendo platforms!". Hearing him say that once was far less annoying. And I also gotta thank him for the clarification. So if you will excuse me I am off to wait for Mutant Mudds 2.
Actually, I feel like game-wise this is a big leap from the first, it just has so much more to do. The extra difficulties alone are probably worth it if you like the original. Tech-wise(see what I did there?), it's not a massive leap from the PS360 versions, however. Though if you haven't played either of the games yet, this is the definitive version.
I voted for Rayman Legends, because I plan to complete Origins sometime this year as well so I can finish them together, both look fantastic!
Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Lego City: Undercover are all on my radar though and I expect really amazing stuff in the last half of the year, which we don't even know much about at this point! Well, I can guarantee at least a new Skylanders game will come out then- hah!
Shame on you, Nintendo Life, you forgot about MUTANT MUDDS 2 despite including Shantae! Animal Crossing: New Leaf > filler > Mutant Mudds 2 > Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney > Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon > Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, for me, though I'm still not certain of wether I want the last one for 3DS or Wii U because I love the handheld and 3D factors but it just looks more comfortable on a TV. The next Skylanders game on 3DS might be fun for me as well, though if it reduces fun factor as much as Giants did from Spyro's Adventure, it will probably end up being really, really painful for me. I'm still baffled over why n-Space dumbed the game down so much and I wish that Activision had paid money to a better developer instead but I guess that's them. Really though, nothing can beat Animal Crossing: New Leaf's steam for me this year and unless a Galaxy-esque Mario or something really unexpected happens I expect it to be my GOTY rather solidly as well.
Nowhere else to really post this since we don't have an article related to the hacking itself or anything: these hacks will sadly have completely negative effects besides homebrew and being able to discover a few niche details on games(I.E. how exactly Uprising's fusion system works). Hackers would probably be able to send out spam notifications through SpotPass with enough work, the great online experiences of games like Mario Kart and Uprising would be wrecked with cheaters, and then piracy. I know this is off topic, but it's something I've thought about for a bit that I'd like to chime about somewhere even if this post gets deleted, et al. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they'd even be able to go into the StreetPass app and create a frustratingly endless array of fake panels. I'm not saying they're instantly bad because they're hackers but I don't see anything positive enough coming out of it. It's too bad that this is always inevitable with consoles. Things were simpler when there was only Pong.
I think the console might have sold a bit more units-wise if the Premium Bundle had just been standard. Regardless, just give it some time and it will be getting some pretty killer apps... After all, look at the 3DS. It had a mediocre launch, but it had some stellar releases last year, and it looks bright for this one.
I might buy it if it comes out on the eShop, if it's a reasonable price, but I find it hard to support a guy who literally said "your games suck". Anyone else think it would be perfect for 3DS? You could tilt with L and R and it would look brilliant in 3D. I'd buy that.
I don't think a NES themed coffee table would be too hard to make. Just get a sufficiently sized board and a glass top table and print or paint a NES or NES controller onto it. It wouldn't be too hard to set that underneath the glass with a bit of handiwork.
I have to admit Laval looks cool... Because he reminds me, like everyone else, of Thundercats. I will see what reception this gets, simple as that, might be my first LEGO game. (And maybe I'll get the Harry Potter ones with it...)
@brandonbwii While I agree with you that Mudds deserves its fame among eShop games(heck, it's the favorite for me), I think people just dislike the game. It didn't magically start since Kid's comment. Anyway, I was buying the Wii U version for an excuse to replay it anyway, so it doesn't bother me. It's probably not gonna be a huge chunk of stuff that 3DS players will miss out on... Plus they're probably gonna get Mutant Mudds 2 sooner and Wii U people are likely to be waiting a while to have that ported.
Oh come on now. I love Mutant Mudds, but Renegade, you are completely ridiculous in this. If you WERE so worried about this then you wouldn't put your game onto the App Store and PC and it's really as simple as that. I'm against piracy, I'm indifferent on honebrew, but you're being totally stupid...
@Squiggle55 It's called POCKET Monsters for a reason! As cool as it would be on the big screen, I'd rather keep Pokemon in my bag. @I-U Yet again I agree with you. I hope that it's a new mainstream game for 3DS that gets announced rather than some downloadable or event. I'm getting tired of replaying SoulSilver and I don't like the other games nearly as much, but just getting a spiffy buffed edition of the formula for the 3DS would probably spark my interest again. Also, it would mean more StreetPasses because a lot more people would buy a 3DS
Can't handle gyro on the 3DS as it is for anything but the AR games and Mario Kart. And Ocarina of Time... And heck... Okay that point is invalid. But the controls seem like they are bound to spoil the game for me, because I do not like the idea of moving my system around too much due to how annoying that would get if I weren't just dedicating a session to it, and it's even worse since my preferred console is an XL.
I enjoyed the first, despite one)its flaws and two)the fact I never actually finished it. Releasing two games the next year though is what I expected Disney to do... Which isn't an issue in itself, but judging on what I've heard from their reception it seems like "EM Sequelitis confirmed". Which is a real darn shame... Because the concept has so much unrealized potential.
Props to Warren for his continuing enthusiasm for it though. Hopefully the next game will truly iron stuff out.
I'm with @Blizzinga - I got the game on release even though I vowed not to at one time... My exact reaction... "Meh." The story is particularly bad for a Pokemon game, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't come after the wonderful one Black and White had. It's deeper than gen-under-V, to be sure, but it's just bad. I liked Hugh's backstory about Purrloin(I don't want to spoil it), but while I was actually playing and battling I forgot about it. It just felt so... Something about it felt off. I don't know what, but something did. Story aside, the gameplay is as good as ever. All the graphical and overworld changes are gorgeously welcome. But my praise about it in particular just ends there. I don't know why. I'm still playing SoulSilver. Maybe that's it and it's just because I know I will go back to SoulSilver at the end, but right now I'm hanging in limbo at the spot just before Victory Road with the game still remaining unfinished in my library. (I allocated a slot for it in my 3DS bag, but I don't think it will be empty that often.) White 2 certainly isn't bad and on the contrary it fixes a lot of issues- mainly replay issues- that White, a fantastic game, had for me. But it can't hold a Litwick to SoulSilver in my opinion. I'm just not motivated to complete it again.
I could be playing any of the following...
[*] Minecraft (Haven't played in ages and I really want to. But it purely depends on wether I can use a good computer... Home one struggles on Tiny without Optifine and Normal with it...)
[*] Skylanders Universe (Okay, technically not really a game, but I need to play this.)
[*] Paper Mario: Sticker Star (I haven't been playing it too much so I'm hoping to advance a bit more.)
[*] Skylanders: Giants [Wii U] (I still have to finish my other three saves. Need to focus on ironing out my progress a bit more as well to finish the Heroics and start leveling. I certainly don't plan to rush doing it, I just haven't sat down with it for a little bit.)
[*] Professor Layton and The Miracle Mask (I still haven't played it as much as I wanted to. For some reason it isn't as gripping as any of the other games to me. Hopefully that will change.)
[*] New Super Mario Bros. U (Standard game, duh.)
[*] Nintendo Land (I might play it if my sister goes out or to work on the weekend. I just don't like playing with my console around her. I totally haven't played it yet, so it will be new for me and I hope to get to play it properly.)
[*] Heroes of Ruin (I haven't played it in a bit.)
I know I have a long list. I think this is just a general one of stuff I need to play. The best part is I don't have any upcoming, so I should have time to play these all before Ninty's consoles pick up more steam again next year with Legends, New Leaf, etc.
Now hold on, sure, Dizzy looks just ambitiously silly in design, but the project sounds likeit has good people behind it, and the art looks excellent, so it's something I would happily contribute to if I did Kickstarter donations.
Shut up and take my diamonds! The prospect of having an excuse to replay the game is enough to warrant buying it for me because I love the 3DS version!
Too bad I don't play demos, it's just tradition for me not to unless I'm really on the fence about something. I'll need to wait a while more before I can play it at all then. I'm okay with this because I still haven't got Origins yet anyway. But regardless, I am definetly picking Legends up when it is out, and it may be my most anticipated Wii U game right now.
@ajcismo Exactly. I think that's a thing with gamers in general these days. So many people just want to rush through games getting every single bonus to throw at everything and forget that you can just play them and savor them. Sometimes I think people just try to nitpick at everything so they can say they have excuses as to why things can be bad. I'm not saying there aren't bad games out there and there aren't exceptions to this, but it seems people get upset when something is different from what they expected, without giving new mechanics any chance. It's funny because majority of the time those same people also complain about the fact that there isn't enough new for them. Oh yeah and BGAE2 would be nice
@DestinyMan Agreed. @LZBirdboi "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever."
