@TheRealThanos That footage really looks really stiff and the cutscenes are bad (kind of rushed yet kind of stretched out and unfun and more confusing than they should be). And the track design just looks bad; it seems like you could easily be left without items because there are so few barrels, and the environments are uninteresting and almost indistinguishable from one another.
The Letter might be dreadfully short, but at least it doesn't cost this much. Imagine how many other, more enjoyable eShop games you could get with $35.
Yeah I just checked the Aus eShop this morning and it's not there. Ah well, guess I'll be forced to skip it. I hope it gets re-released somehow, but doubt it.
@sillygostly Exactly ;_; I'll just be waiting for the Aus pricing here... EB Games placeholder price is $30, and I doubt they will be, but if they end up that expensive I won't touch any except those of my all-time favourites like Pit and Greninja.
I'm not really interested in any of the launch characters, but I've been considering quitting Skylanders, and if I do these'll just fill the void.
"and the smaller model will have interchangeable covers, like the GBA Micro." Wait, so ONLY the smaller one? Hmm, I want both interchangeable covers and the larger screen
Disappointed that the trailer was not for two characters with Shulk lying on a patch of grass and Duck Hunt laughing in the distance, as many people suggested.
Glad I didn't get a second XL to replace my older one. But darn, that second circle pad looks tiiiiny! It's really cool that these'll have interchangeable covers!
It feels like I've heard this about nearly every new Nintendo IP. Ayway, I'm glad that they decided to make a new IP, because we have plenty of Mario and this looks awesome.
I usually like to see a bit of focus put onto story in game, but I don't believe that should be done at the expense of extra content to replay and challenges besides getting through the story. Once you get through it once, then you'd have nothing left rather quickly. I haven't played Gone Home, but it seems like it that's what it's like. I just can't buy it at this price.
... I still feel the same way I felt about this before (#48), and I think this game has a mediocre story overall... Not just that, but maxing out all your Skylanders is horribly unrewarding in this game, even if the immersion doesn't matter. All you get for doing every Quest on one is 75 HP extra- which is totally irrelevant in Nightmare Mode, where enemies toss out hits that do hundreds of damage each.
Plus, those Quests aren't fun (many involve grinding), and a bunch of them can only be completed in 1-2 spots. If you have a bunch of Skylanders, this means you'll be replaying those few areas with some of them over and over if you want to max them out.
Spyro's Adventure/Giants gave you humongous stat boosts for doing all the Heroic Challenges, which took about the same time to complete as it takes to finish all the Quests in SF. In Giants you get +48 Speed, +30 Armor, +85 Critical Hit and +55 Elemental Power for finishing 50 Heroics on a Skylander, and those boosts are far more significant and feel a lot cooler than a measly 75 extra HP.
After I completed the game, it felt like there was nothing left to do with the Skylanders I had, because I couldn't take them further besides completing the Quests (which I hated). If I weren't such a completionist, I probably would have upgraded everyone by abusing the Sky Diamond, tried them out in fully-upgraded form and never touched the game after I tried everyone, because there would be nothing I was interested in left to do. I wanted to do Heroics in SA/Giants, because even though they were repetitive, it was cool to see my Skylanders have all the stat boosts from them- I think if I played more casually, I still would have played some of the Heroics with Skylanders I like, so that they had better stats.
And I hate all the unskippable dialogue- you can skip a lot of it (although it's kind of slow), but there's also a lot that you can never skip, and it became incredibly annoying. It made it unfun for me to replay levels because I got interrupted by so much dialogue and I either had to wait a second to skip each line or had to sit through it, waiting for it to finish. It's especially bad in Time Attack, which should feel fast, but doesn't when you're interrupted so much. (It was also a huge annoyance when replaying a level over and over to try and get a good time.)
I think it's got great design for the most part, and I like pretty much all the additions, but I think these are major flaws. I just didn't have fun replaying SWAP Force. For that reason, it's my least favourite Skylanders game. I still played Survival Mode for a while, to mess around with each Skylander's mechanics and figure them out to the finest detail, although there wasn't really anything in the game that pushed me to. And I got bored of that before too long.
@SavoirFaire There isn't a Frozen Play Set. They come in a double pack (with texture discs), but you can only use them in the Toy Box; they don't have their own game world like the Incredibles or Toy Story figures. Same with Wreck-It Ralph/Vanellope () and Phineas/Perry.
I'm glad some people here already know about 3DS piracy. I'm only going to mention it because someone else did in another comment- it's called Gateway and I've heard it's pretty faulty (bricked a bunch of systems), and don't know the status of it now, but it still exists so if piracy comes out of the homebrew channel, It won't really be new. Actually, wasn't there an article about it here? Oh yeah, I remember they put in those bricking measures because they didn't want people copying their work.
@unrandomsam Yeah. I don't want one, though I've read about it.
@Starwolf_UK I actually forgot about that! I remember seeing topics on GameFAQs about the Japanese save editor when it came out, but I never heard anything about it afterwards.
I'm surprised people don't know cheating and piracy are already things for the 3DS. Thankfully, I don't think those cheats even work online (though they can give you stuff to use online, like cheated Pokémon). We'll see if this homebrew paves the way for that.
I actually kinda want one. If I get it, I'll probably use it on my sister's original 3DS, which she hasn't touched since she got an XL.
@Big_L91 I was and would too, but I still have those issues when connecting to the internet, and whenever I do try to update the console disconnects...
@Mega719 @The_Ninja I guess you could say Mega719 needs to hold their horses. YEAAAAAAHH
Don't forget that console sales aren't the only thing that matter. Of course they help, maybe the boost in console sales could be a huge difference; but third-parties developing on WiiU want profit, and I don't think increased hardware sales give them that (directly). Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.
@PieEater163 I'm pretty sure that's not hacking, but graphics lag.
What @ejamer said. I still want to buy a couple just because I really, really like particular characters, but not very many. Not excited to actually use them with games, because we have very, very little detail about that, which is a huge con to me.
Is the whole game really free in app form? The FGTV video for this gave me the impression there would be a free demo, but you would need to pay for the whole game. Which makes much more sense, because the app actually gives you two digital Skylanders you can use, and if it were free you could probably beat the main story for free using the digital Skylanders. (Edit: According to IGN's video, you can only play the full game once you register the Portal with it or something, otherwise it's just a demo with a couple chapters.)
Here's how this will work, from what I understand, based on FGTV's video: you CAN play without the Portal (even using the controller without the Portal).
However, you cannot keep a particular Skylander from a toy "stored" in the game and play them without the Portal. When you don't have the Portal, you are given digital Skylanders Instant Snap Shot and Instant Food Fight, recolours of the regular Snap Shot and Food Fight exclusive to the tablet version. They have upgrades and all, but will not be released in toy form, and it seems like they don't connect to any figures.
So... Wanna scan in a particular toy, collect Gold or finish Quests with them on the go, and later scan the progress you made onto the toy? NOPE, stuck with two digital ones and no choice for others, unless you take the Portal and toys with you. It seems to run well and the accessories seem well designed, I'm sure this will work out well for them and plenty will enjoy it- though I personally have no use for it.
I think the main replayability of the games comes from maxing out new Skylanders, and it's a huge missed oppurtunity that you can't store even ONE Skylander on the tablet version to upgrade them/finish Quests in a full portable version, then scan the progress on later. Also, since I already have the Wii U version, I can play off of the TV at home similarly using the GamePad. This is a no-go for me (and the list of compatible tablets I've found doesn't have "iPad Mini", so I couldn't play it anyway ).
I went on GameFAQs and saw topics for some Mega Slowbro. Then checked Serebii and laughed out loud when I read about the Korean site accidentally leaking these. Oops! XD
Indifferent towards Mega Slowbro (prefer the look of regular), love Mega Audino.
Definitely looks cool, but I'm not interested in following their gallery because it seems like they mainly upload art with scenes copied straight from references.
If it were available here, I don't know wether I'd buy this because of how bad it apparently is, or leave it be because of how bad it apparently is...
Hopefully the developer will use the money they get from this to release it elsewhere, because who am I kidding? I'd buy this and I want this.
I'd feel bad supporting a game I know is awful, but I'm a masochist for them. Except Sonic 06. Because long load screens are my breaking point.
"there really is no necessity for Link to be wearing that particular mask, when he has various others as options."
Like @Tsurii897 said, Majora's Mask is much more iconic than any other mask in the Zelda series. There's not really much reason to go for a Keaton mask or something over Majora's Mask (unless it fits in with the holiday better, I don't know anything about this celebration).
I do think Nintendo will release a remake of the game soon (and I want one because I haven't played MM), but I think this is hardly notable. It just so happens that Majora's Mask is the best choice for a general Zelda-themed mask, because there's a game in the series named after it...
Though @RedBlueSpot bought up a good point... I still think the "most iconic" point might apply to that, though, because Zelda is the only Nintendo franchise with such a notable mask.
I heard about "DLC" on GameFAQs and I was disappointed it would be more new karts instead of new courses. :b Still a nice update, though like @GhotiH said some of the stuff here seems like it should have been in from the start.
@Bulbousaur I've been waiting for MM2 for ages... The level updates make the wait less difficult, but I haven't read anything new about MM2 for months. I don't expect it to be worth years of waiting, and it seems like RK might be putting their ideas for expanding it into the level updates, so I'm just not excited for the sequel any more. I can't get myself excited for new RK games no matter how cool they seem, since I'm afraid that all their releases might just be like this.
This and Treasureneauts do seem pretty cool, it's just that I'm not excited for them now. If RK actually release games that seem good then I'll buy them, but they aren't, so I can't.
The picture cap is annoying. I have extra space on my 16GB SD card and im not even close to the 300-app cap, but I'm not allowed to save more pictures from Colors!, Animal Crossing, Pokémon etc. The games tell me there's no more space for pictures. I'm just gonna copy all of them to my PC and delete them from the card.
Is it just me, or does Wii Fit Trainer look kind of crosseyed?
Out of these 13, I just particularly want Pit. Fox also looks especially cool here, but I don't care about Fox himself enough to actually get his amiibo.
I really want the Palutena, Robin and Greninja amiibo as well. 'Cause I really like those characters. (Well, not Robin so much because I don't particularly care for FE, but I'm reeeaaaallllllllllyy excited to use Robin in Smash. ) I'm considering getting/would like others, but Robin, Greninja, Pit and Palutena are the only definite buys for me.
Quickly! Someone start spamming the circle pad and then d-pad so they're stuck switching the rollerblades on and off!
I don't think it's absurd that TPP has kept going, despite being so repetitive. It seems most people stick around for the community rather than the game (and a lot of people don't even watch the stream). I haven't bothered going on the Twitch page once since Platinum, though, which I checked once. IMO the run with the best story was Crystal, which started horribly but ended pretty well. Red was the most fun to watch because there was a lot of novelty to it. I didn't watch much of anything after that, but it seems boring since there's little novelty left and each new game starts off slow.
This seems funny to me because I just posted about this on the game's page here. There's no reason NOT to buy the Wii Starter Pack unless you want a physical Wii U copy or a box with the Wii U label. The Wii version is slightly cheaper in the US, IIRC- and essentially gives you a bonus copy, which you don't really need but it certainly isn't a bad thing.
@DefHalan They use different Portals, the 3DS one works via Infrared.

Re: Twitch is Going to Play Pokémon X on a Modded 3DS
Re: Feature: Where Are The Super Nintendo 3D Classics?
I'm still waiting for this...
Re: Skylanders Trap Team on Wii Will, Surprisingly, Come With a Free Download Code for the Wii U Version
