Remember the Addams Family? Of course you do! The spooky gang are coming to Switch in time for Halloween later this year in The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem, courtesy of developer PHL Collective and publisher Outright Games.
Scheduled for a 24th September launch, it's a 3D platform adventure with four-player co-op, and you can play as Wednesday, Pugsley, Gomez, and Morticia (and we'd assume Uncle Fester, Thing and Lurch will be featured in some capacity, too — who wouldn't want to run around in a platformer as a disembodied hand, right?).
You'll be helping the Addams Family save their mansion from a mysterious visitor who is dead-set on taking over. You'll explore the depths of the Addams residence and uncover mysteries, secrets and dungeons (probably) while utilising each character's special abilities. These include Gomez wielding his Mazurka Saber and Wednesday's employing her pet octopus Socrates. Puzzle-solving, relic-finding, it's all in here.
The game is scheduled to release alongside a sequel to the 2019 animated movie titled, incredibly, The Addams Family. Here's some more from the press blurb:
- JOIN THE FAMILY – Experience the kooky world of the Addams Family in an original story based on the hit animated movie franchise!
- SAVE THE MANSION – Piece together the horrifically exciting history of the Addams Family Mansion in a 3D platforming adventure!
- COMPETITIVE MINI GAMES – Jump, bump and race your way to victory!
- SOLO OR TOGETHER – Explore the Addams Mansion alone, or with up to 4 players on the same screen!'Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem' will be the first Addams Family video game to launch on console since 2001.
The franchise, which debuted as a comic strip, has gone on to inspire TV series, movies, comics, toys and collectables over its 80+ years of frightful popularity.
"It is very exciting to work, not only with MGM for the first time, but to work with them on The Addams Family - one of the biggest family entertainment brands of all time," said Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games. "For us, it is truly a delight to create a thrilling family adventure video game, with one of the most iconic and enduring families in all of popular culture."
Will you be checking out this new Addams Family game later this year, or are you waiting for The Munsters reboot to come to Switch?

it looks like *****
Looks like something straight out of the PlayStation 2 / Wii shovelware era.
Glad to see this bizarre trend of turning well-known properties into 3D platformers is still alive.
Another bad game to join the collection. Nice.
It really looks terrible ... and to think that some great games never got physical release and this does
Looks like Shrek 2 on the GameCube, which was really good if you got your head out of your rear and gave it a try. I'll probably grab it once it gets cheap.
Obligatory "Ew Outright Games" comment.
this look awful, gameplay looks like something from a very poor ps1 game
@RupeeClock
just had a look at their site, what a load of old crap its company's like this the gaming industry can do with out
Give me Fester's Quest or nothing at all.
@Zuljaras never understood that logic, I have seen so many shovelware for the Switch (and other systems too) getting physical releases worldwide, and you see these games everywhere.
Yet great games like Gundam or even Phoenix Wright (to name few) on the Switch I had to import because the west never got a physical release of them at all.
(Not even starting about VNs...)
Gameplay reminded me of Shrek 2 on the gamecube
I'm intrigued simply by it being the Addams Family, particularly it being co op, but I'll probably need some reviews before seeing if this will be worth it.
I’m more interested in a retro Addams Family collection with Festers Quest and Pugsleys Scavenger Hunt.
Well, we like the Addams Family in this house! And it's got co-op so fingers crossed it's at least ok...
Those are some fun designs of the characters, but the art direction in general seems rather undercooked. :-/
Hopefully the game design underneath it is solid. ^^
They do what they wanna do, say what they wanna say, live how they wanna live, play how they wanna play...
pains me to say it but my kids enjoy the og games.if you find them in bargain bin keeps them happy
sometimes you need a game that speaks to the stoopid side of you
I know this family likes are things bad but, this is really bad LOL!
I wanna say OG games are just trash but to be fair their CN games(excluding the Ben10 ones) are really good.
Oh God, this looks awful. Damn. Such a shame, as The Addams Family game on the Amiga (and SNES, I think) was excellent.
@BizarreJelly28980
I tried the Adventure Time game and it was awful.
@EarthboundBenjy Eh I'd say the switch port is awful but the game in general is really good.
i guess the era of movie based games is back
90% terrible
but a few that are worth trying
this one looks like one of the 90% though
We are definitely an Addams Family family, so I'm moderately interested in this but honestly not expecting much. Media tie-ins are usually not great, and this doesn't look like it's bucking the trend. But any game that lets me be Morticia Addams is worth a look at least.
Hoping Cousin Itt will be playable at some point just for lulz, especially if Snoop Dogg does the VA (probably not going to happen, but I can dream, can't I?!?)
Now you 3D Mario fans can have your 3D game and hopefully we get a 2D game from EPD Nintendo studios.
Where are all the AAA third party ports that games like Skyrim and Bioshock made us think would be coming to the Switch?
I thought the shovelware 2000's thing was over until i proved wrong. For the Adventure Time game i wish some good developer could make an open world game with story and characters, not some studio famous for bad games.
I know everyone is ripping on this game but to me it looks like it has potential. Really only if it has online co op. There is no way I'm paying $60 for it. Absolutely not.
@Yosher If this has online co op and goes for $40 or under I would say this is pretty cool.
What really blows my mind is that in our year of the lord 2021 this game somehow doesn't have rendered shadows. Check out those little circles!
No...
You'd think people would get that just popping out a game of any old property isn't a good idea. A game should be made with passion, and it should be made to be fun.
Not to advertise a property with dwindling relevance.
Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt remaster would be cool. The music was fantastic for that game. Never managed to complete the game... You had to complete it in one single play through as there were no passwords or save points. Not that I was aware of anyway.
Another nod to the SNES game. That game was amazing!
This....this looks like shareware.
I could be wrong but I don't think this is for me. However I think an Addams Family game and the fact that it may be 4 player couch maybe is a really genius idea.
Please keep making couch co op and licensed games, just make the quality better.
The art design is based on the original comic, which predates the show and movies.
Another generic hop-n-bop shovelware platformer for a legacy franchise. Gameplay reminds me of Shrek 2 or Nicktoons Unite with the co op beat em up platforming focus. I won't lie, I'm intrigued because i haven't played a good family friendly platformer in this style in ages, but damn they look like something from a low grade commercial.
@Anguspuss Definitely nothing be embarrassed by! I will be buying a game like this for my kids when they get a little older.
I actually like the look of this one. I will keep it on the wish list for my kids.
They tarnished the Addam's Family with this game. They look goofy.
@Azooooz that's how they originally looked in the comics! The show wasn't the "original".
It looks kinda dumb but still worth a look. I wish the characters were based on the 1990s movies (the ones with Christina Ricci, Raul Julia, Angelica Houston, Jimmy Workman, and Christopher Lloyd) rather than the most recent one, but I can see why they went this way.
No, it scares me...not the horror kind of scare...the "what the hell did they do to this family" scary. They're ugly....why?! >.<
I remember playing the 2d Addams Family game on the Amiga many moons ago. One of my favourite games at the time.
I think I’ll pass.
@zool The Amiga was great wasn’t it.
@Azooooz it’s their original look from The New Yorker many years ago.
I love the old Addams family games, and am keen to check this one out. So I hope it turns out ok at least
