@stephen_stig that just speaks a lot about dumb consumers honestly. But if it really saves them the pain of those .... "distracted" consumers well, yeah it's better for them to leave it there. Although I agree with @stuie1234 that it does not look great on it.
This looks amazing. Sadly Yoshi games are tooo cozy-zero challenge for me to enjoy. But that it looks great and has one of the best box arts, I won't deny
@AaronElWhite Hades 1 not the sequel. Which was roughly developed by 20 devs from what I see. Not my definition of gigantic, nor the bar with which I would compare them. Anyways, cross save doesn't sound like the most complex feature ever, but I don't know the technicality of it as you appear to know.
@cvrator I totally agree with you. In the end it is mostly a nice to have and not worth a real weight in the score, and is not a common practice. But at the same time I am grateful for the lack of it being highlighted in the review, just because it affects me.
@theberrage honestly I still felt lost at around day ~20 or something. And when I thought I had it ... I didn't . I almost let it go after that point which I won't spoil. But luckily I didn't leave and ended up completing all available quests I believe - at least everything available up until beginning of last year, not sure if there have been any updates as there are some open ended questions still. Amazing game, don't let it go
@N00BiSH for the same reason that the Minecraft movie was a success probably. Sadly that kind of humor sells.
I love Wario, but I'm also on the same boat as you on what I can expect him doing in a movie..
@MADLUDWIG11 I made clear points without insulting nor trying to bait for your " I get the impression you aren’t interested in a reasonable discussion here" . Was any point that I mentioned not reasonable? Not that the feature affects you, but it can to others.
Maybe you took it too personal, again I don't think it's a thing to make the score be lower, but happy that they mention it at least as a warning, as for me having a save file in my PS5, it is indeed a negative aspect.
And FF is not a roguelike, the specific genre that I mentioned having cross saves being nice to have
@cvrator Hades 1 f.ex as implied in my example. Only with PC, but it has. Others such as: https://ns-cross-save-games.github.io/ I usually don't care about cross saves either, but as mentioned above, it is a really nice to have for roguelikes specially if they are released at a different time depending on the platform
@kmtrain83 again, I don't think this had any weight in the final score, I think is just a negative aspect worth to be mentioned.
But in any case as mentioned in the Hades 2 example, it is a negative aspect worth to be at least mentioned on the review of the latter platform, at least as a warning not something that would really weight into the final score, As it seems the case here.
Do I think Balatro Switch 2 version is a whole point lower than Balatro Switch 1? Never, but I want the review to warn me about it as a negative aspect
@MADLUDWIG11 Well you nailed the condition for me: "late port".
If the game has been available for a considerable time in other platforms, specially a roguelike, then yes, I believe it is a letdown for many that there is no cross-save.
Same thing would happen if/when Hades 2 gets released on PS if it doesn't include cross-save.
Or another example, I bought Balatro on Switch 1 and continued playing on Switch 2. There is a recentlty released Switch 2 version, but I heard that it doesn't carry over the save file. So I don't care about it, even with the small enhancements.
TLDR: Yes it can be a considerably negative point for many.
Also, I think this is just a negative aspect for people to be aware of, don't really think that it had any significant weight in the game being a 9 rather than a 10 as much as the considerable randomness of it's gameplay
Great game. Loved it, but I think there is no sense in getting it again for Switch 2, considering I had it included in PS Plus, there is no cross-save, and have mostly done everything unless there are any recent significant updates.
Otherwise, if you have never played it nor have it included in other subscriptions, this is an amazing game to get on handheld
Every single Direct type so far this year but the one that we actually want.... Partner, Indie, Pokemon, Movie... Meanwhile Zelda 40th nor a proper first party Direct are nowhere to be seen
These are usually great and better than partner ones. With Silksong and Hades2 out of the way I am wondering what they have in store for us. Maybe a Blue Prince port? Hopefully Meowgenics, somehow. Zero Parades ?? Maybe that's the one I'm most intrigued by
I liked the fire one but just realizing it is based on pomeranian.... I despise that loud and hysteric breed almost as much as poodles IRL (have a noisy neighbor with one)... so that one is discarded.
I kind of like the Water one but.... This seems like a gen full of water areas and Pokemons, so I'll probably leave space for another water type down the road instead.
I skipped gen 7, so I never had a Rowlet before... Let's go with Browt
Ceruledge is really winning??! C'mon.... I hate humanoid Pokemon designs and that is the most Digimon like design of all Pokemons probably. I love Digimon too but this one feels really off for a Pokemon design. Anyways, worst gen by far.
This was my return to Pokemon after many years (since gen 3 -still my favorite).Still surprised on how abrupt difficulty fell from the first gens, and those weren't SMT level difficult either.
Wasn't very good but still better than Gen9.
Some pretty cool designs anyways. Dragapult might be my real favorite... But I need Centiskorch to receive some love too.
My favorite Generation. So many choices: Flygon, Metagross, Mudkip, Rayquaza and Milotic (which I could never catch....) But I went with Altaria. Good times
Ports ports and only ports! So excited about this Port Direct. But honestly just give me Refantazio and that's fine. So sad we didn't get a proper Direct
These should be called "Port Direct" at this point.
Anyways I would love to play a Metaphor Refantazio port or (don't think it will happen) Baldurs Gate 3 port on my Switch2. Feel like these are better suited for a handheld somehow.
But otherwise I mostly only play first party and indie games on my Nintendo consoles, as third party titles are usually just old ports which still play better on my PS. So not too exited
@The_Nintendo_Expat yeah makes sense. I was too among those waiting for, and even convinced that there would be proper dungeons. But because even without them I still loved the first game, my biggest complain was recycling the map on the second, not the dungeons. But overall, I loved both at the end of the day.
@The_Nintendo_Expat I get that you or anyone might no like a game, it's all subjective ofc.
But even if I am too among the few disappointed by TOTK (the best part of the original game is exploring a new world and they basically just repeated the map while adding a few isles in the sky + a monotonous underground) I would never dare to say that it is among "the most disappointing sequels I can think of" .
C'mon it is a 96 game, among the very very best by any critic, audience, technical or whatever measure we want to measure it by.
Regarding Mario Wonder... I agree that I am too against Nintendo IPs becoming easier and easier. Leave the Yoshi, Kirby and now Peach games for that audience. Keep Metroid as the challenging IP. And leave Mario and Zelda with a middle challenge level. IMO
Note: I just read your explanation about TOTK on a second comment. But if your main issue is the "lack of dungeons and expertly paced linear progression" then it is not that the sequel was disappointing, it's that you did not like the formula from the get go since the first game.
I love Japan, their country, products, food and culture so much...
But they are the cringiest and horniest and the way that they portray most girls in their anime, manga and games gets to a disgusting point to me personally.
They even let freaking Cyberpunk as mentioned in other comments go uncensored but they draw the line with this game?!?!
Man I don't really care too much about these scenes but looking at that black censor bar is definitively going to be a nuisance. Was going to get on day one, will now probably wait for an eventual PS Plus Extra version.
@Ralizah depends on what you consider egregious.
Between a middle finger and the sexualized portrayal of anime girls? I think it's clear to me which is the weird one.
Everyone here and else asking to remake this, remake that... Man I am tired of this remake era.
Unless the game is from the N64/PS1 polygon era which is the real outdated and unplayable generation by today's standards, just port the rest, maybe as an hd version but that's it.
But yeah just give us and focus on new IPs, or even sequels and move on.
@Kilroy please don't jinx it... XD Yeah they are definitively improvements, just having some trust issues. More Drift = More JoyCons & Dualsences sold = Happy Stakeholders.
@MattmanForever - Haven't heard of it either. But we are still within a year from launch. As you said, time will tell. But the materials themselves only suggest an improvement, not a solution as validated as Hall-effect, ofc from my little technical knowledge. I am just speaking from my poor experience with 3 drifting left- JoyCons1 and a drifting PS5 Dualsence controller - A problem that ended 2 years ago with my Hall Effect Nacon controller.
@ZombAid82 totally agree. Sadly we will probably see 2 more remakes before 6 is released.
And even then it will be an incomplete version until Persona 6 silver recharged + Funky Kong is released ~ 2 years later.
Absolutely hate Atlus way of doing things and yet I like their games...
Should be one of the 3 games that is playable on a Nintendo system that was actually among the GOTY nominees : Bananza, Silksong, or Hades 2. MP4 could be considered as it was not eligible for GOTY this year, but it is the most divisive one of the 4, and having played the 4 of them, also the weakest by far for me.
Me personally? Silksong by a mile
@Dringo again with the trust me I work in... Argument which has no value. I could be working as janitor in NASA, and wouldn't make me an expert in astrophysics. Date has nothing to do with the awards?????? If you release in December you are not eligible. As simple as that. Pretty much has something to do.
Yes Indiana Jones is in TGA... As Goty nominee? No. You said it was so good that it was the only serious contender last year. It was not that year because it was not eligible ( dates matter wow) and is still not among the top this year either.
Yeah I already said why Metroid was not released before for me, but here I go again:
It is an IP that should always be nominated for Goty. This one clearly was not at that level. So they chose the higher volume of sales of December and to avoid being seen as "discarded" by the awards.
Nobody ever thought that Pokemon, Kirby, Fifa or CoD would be considered for GOTY this year it doesn't matter. But if Metroid has a chance they would have swapped dates with any of those 2 in a second as Metroid is the "prestige" IP among the 3.
If M4 released in month prior and was not among the nominees, it would have been seen as even a bigger letdown as it is right now. That doesn't apply to the other 2 IPs as nobody expected them to be Goty from the get go
Yes, Christmas sales will be good for the game, but the date was also chosen knowing that it was going to be below expectations and to avoid being seen as neglected for the big awards by not being eligible.
Sad because I am a huge Metroid fan, but this was expected when the open world trailer and date were announced.
Surprised about the vast majority of the comments being between Hades 2 and Silksong, which I absolutely adored, but are ignoring E33 and almost no mention to Blue Prince.
Guess that makes some sense in a Nintendo page, considering those 2 games are not available.
I imagine the opposite happening in PushSquare were Hades 2 is not available for PS users yet.
Anyways, as mentioned before E33 was already favorite for the big award, so being nominated here is almost a sure win (haven't played yet)
Thought it was going to be a battle between Silksong and Hades2, with Blue Prince being the Dark Horse. Played and absolutely loved the 3 of them. I didn't expect Clair Obscure to really qualify for Indie. But we've seen Dave the Diver being nominated in the past. There is clearly a grey area. Considering that by word of mouth and critics general consensus it feels like Clair Obscure was already favorite for Goty, looks like it is going to take this one then. Still have to play it
@benmalsky198 tf? Of course you have every right to have a more positive opinion about the open world and that is great, but if half of your now ~40 comments are like :
"“boring”? “not all that fun”? “style over substance”?! You are dead wrong."
"You’re wrong about CrossWorlds. It’s great."
" You are very much wrong. I’m a big fan of open world games" and can not understand why anyone wouldn’t like them." Then don't come now saying that you are not saying everyone is wrong and that everyone can have their opinion if you are also stating that : "The intermission tracks ARE fun and they Do make the corses unique!" That is not an opinion, that is declaring that yours is the only truth. Also why reply 3 different times to the same comment lol. Yeah you are either baiting or need a big hug.
I agree that this Open - World approach is a huge misstep and step back not only for Mario Kart, but apparently for other Nintendo IPs such as for Metroid Prime 4 as being teased in the latest trailer.
Open World does not fit everything, specially not these IPs
Guessing that buying the console bundle definitively adds up to MKW numbers. So I am among those that bought MKW last week.
It's only been a few GPs, Knockouts and online sessions so far, but this one really feels like a downgrade compared to MK8D.
Of course we will be getting more content and stages I think in the future, and hopefully 200cc.
But this one really feels like the most random, least skill based MK that I have ever played , and I've owned all tv console MKs since MK64.
Don't know if they can fix that or if they even care, which is even worst
Already in Act 3 of Silksong and with my new Switch 2 which just arrived. This will be a day one.
What a year for Indies. Not sure if Clair Obscur will clasify as an Indie, don't think that KCDII is.
But even without those, Blue Prince, Silksong and Hades 2 are too much for a single year!
And I thought that last year just with Balatro and Animal Well was already amazing.
@Dringo "clearly I know more about you". So I give you arguments and you give me that.
Well for a "games business journalist" who started this discussion saying that:
" Indiana Jones was nominated for GOTY" ... but it wasn't.
Then said "well but it was the best challenger!" But it wasn't
as clearly the scores were better on the real nominees.
And finally is now saying that I said all those December games are bad. Never said that.
And if you still think that if the Game, a Metroid Game, was good enough it wouldn't be released on time just a few weeks earlier for a nomination with all the traction and awareness that it brings enhancing sales, then let me say that you are definitively not too good at your own profession if your arguments are "BUt Im A Journalist so trust me I know betTR" And clearly has it's facts contradicted.
Not too "obsessed with market data" if you don't even know the impact of a GOTY nomination on an IP like that apparently XD.
But let's see again in December if the general consensus and overall scores place it among the top 6 games of the year. I am sure that with those trailers it looks to be at the level of Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2, Blue Prince, SilkSong, Kingdom Come, Split Fiction or even DK. Not to mention the upcoming Ghost of Yotei and Hades 2.
The message they are sending is that they know it has no chance.
Finally received mine today. Very exited on trying out both MK and DK, but also to continue my Silksong playthrough here after transferring.
I think that after Silksong I'll be back and forth between DK and Hades 2 and eventually Ghost of Yotei.
So I have plenty to remain occupied, but still a little disappointed with the latest direct and upcoming lineup tbh.
@Dringo Yes, they do.
Just being nominated to these awards can significantly increase a game's sales and player base, creating a large spike in visibility and traction. This can be easily verified for past nominees.
Same as Oscar potential winners do with the release date of their movies between October, November, and December (OR ~ Cannes lately).
Of course blockbuster movies and games like Fifa, COD, 2k don't care about these, knowing they won't be nominated and sell well anyways. Metroid has never, sadly, been a blockbuster as other Nintendo IPs. It would have helped a lot being nominated.
Now I see that you insist on Indiana Jones last year. Personally I think it was not better than any of the 6 nominees. But our personal opinion does not count. You say it could have won? Well for the awards it did release on time it won 0 Game of the year other than "Nordic Game of the Year". Big one.
GOTY is defined mostly by Critics -> Average Critic Scores are found on Metacritic -> Indiana is ranked 47 currently of 2024 released games, with 5 of the GOTY nominees being way above that score. No, it was not a challenger, therefore released outside the period on which it could have been nominated.
@AverageGamer Then the smart company should push the games without a chance of being nominated and release the IP with a chance of being nominated on/or before November.
C'mon honestly if they felt this was as big or as good as MP1 was then they would have without a doubt released it just ~20 days earlier. But a Switch 1 game clearly does not have that chance in 2025. They go all in with DK this time.

Yes, Christmas sales will be good for the game, but the date was also chosen knowing that it was going to be below expectations and to avoid being seen as neglected for the big awards by not being eligible.
Sad because I am a huge Metroid fan, but this was expected when the open world trailer and date were announced.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Yep, as expected low 80s, no chance for a GOTY nomination in this stacked year and that is why they preferred December:
TBH, MP should be a ~90s franchise so this is below original expectations (prior to trailers)
Re: The Indie Game Awards 2025 GOTY Nominee List Is Packed With Switch Hits
Surprised about the vast majority of the comments being between Hades 2 and Silksong, which I absolutely adored, but are ignoring E33 and almost no mention to Blue Prince.
Guess that makes some sense in a Nintendo page, considering those 2 games are not available.
I imagine the opposite happening in PushSquare were Hades 2 is not available for PS users yet.
Anyways, as mentioned before E33 was already favorite for the big award, so being nominated here is almost a sure win (haven't played yet)
Re: The Indie Game Awards 2025 GOTY Nominee List Is Packed With Switch Hits
Thought it was going to be a battle between Silksong and Hades2, with Blue Prince being the Dark Horse. Played and absolutely loved the 3 of them.
I didn't expect Clair Obscure to really qualify for Indie. But we've seen Dave the Diver being nominated in the past. There is clearly a grey area.
Considering that by word of mouth and critics general consensus it feels like Clair Obscure was already favorite for Goty, looks like it is going to take this one then. Still have to play it
Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me
@benmalsky198 tf? Of course you have every right to have a more positive opinion about the open world and that is great, but if half of your now ~40 comments are like :
Then don't come now saying that you are not saying everyone is wrong and that everyone can have their opinion if you are also stating that : "The intermission tracks ARE fun and they Do make the corses unique!"
That is not an opinion, that is declaring that yours is the only truth.
Also why reply 3 different times to the same comment lol.
Yeah you are either baiting or need a big hug.

Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me
I agree that this Open - World approach is a huge misstep and step back not only for Mario Kart, but apparently for other Nintendo IPs such as for Metroid Prime 4 as being teased in the latest trailer.
Open World does not fit everything, specially not these IPs
Re: Video: Hades 2 Casts A Spell Over Us On Switch 1 & 2
Currently sitting at 94 in Metacritic.
This year's Indie Game of the Year is just going to be wild
Re: UK Charts: Well, Look Who Cruised Back Into First Place
Guessing that buying the console bundle definitively adds up to MKW numbers. So I am among those that bought MKW last week.
It's only been a few GPs, Knockouts and online sessions so far, but this one really feels like a downgrade compared to MK8D.
Of course we will be getting more content and stages I think in the future, and hopefully 200cc.
But this one really feels like the most random, least skill based MK that I have ever played , and I've owned all tv console MKs since MK64.
Don't know if they can fix that or if they even care, which is even worst
Re: Here's When Hades 2 Releases In Your Time Zone
Already in Act 3 of Silksong and with my new Switch 2 which just arrived. This will be a day one.
What a year for Indies. Not sure if Clair Obscur will clasify as an Indie, don't think that KCDII is.
But even without those, Blue Prince, Silksong and Hades 2 are too much for a single year!
And I thought that last year just with Balatro and Animal Well was already amazing.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 Surpasses 2 Million Units Sold
Finally received mine today. Very exited on trying out both MK and DK, but also to continue my Silksong playthrough here after transferring.
I think that after Silksong I'll be back and forth between DK and Hades 2 and eventually Ghost of Yotei.
So I have plenty to remain occupied, but still a little disappointed with the latest direct and upcoming lineup tbh.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
@Dringo Yes, they do.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
@AverageGamer Then the smart company should push the games without a chance of being nominated and release the IP with a chance of being nominated on/or before November.
C'mon honestly if they felt this was as big or as good as MP1 was then they would have without a doubt released it just ~20 days earlier. But a Switch 1 game clearly does not have that chance in 2025. They go all in with DK this time.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets A Release Date, Open World Confirmed
@Dringo Yes this year they will get announced mid November: https://thegameawards.com/
And no, Indiana Jones was not a Goty nominee.
