Deal-breaker for me. Happy I read it first before pre ordering. The main story was short on the first one and most of my time with it was spent in versus mode local multiplayer. Sad news
Definitively a day one for me, but I agree with some comments that it is too colorful and the main character design is a big miss. Hope it has different routes available as in Three Houses for the replay value. Have +300 hours on that one thanks to that and the maddening difficulty. Loved it
I was so disappointed after the lack of a proper main Nintendo Direct in June after the rumors that I finally decided to buy Ps Plus Extra and for the first time I found myself going to PushSquare much more often than here. This is the longest time I haven't touched my Switch since I bought it in 2017. But I'm still hoping for some good news such as a Wind Waker port. In the meantime, nothing interesting until Scarlet/Violet in November for me
As people mentioned in previous comments, this is not that bad with the amount of current SRPGs being released this year. I can wait for a more polished game
@LudicrousBeeswax me too. I have 13 Sentinels in the backlog so I can't quite tell, but these new real time tacticals cautiously call my attention. The same happens with Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, not completely sold on the new mechanics
I will definitively have to try this demo! I love SRPGs and Switch is the perfect console for them. Love that Square Enix is giving so much SRPG love to the Switch while I wait for a new real Fire Emblem
@a_brave_new_geek if you are looking for a great JRPG Story welll..... none of those franchises will give you one. If you are looking for a challenge then SMTV all the way, specially in hard mode. I still buy Pokemon games due to the atmotsphere, nostalgia and because I kind of feel them to be relaxing. But if you never played a pokemon game before... without challenge, nostalgia and a good story most of the times...3 strikes. Go for SMTV if you are a newcomer to both series, which will also have more familiar monsters for you as they are mostly based in gods from diverse religions.
Anyways, I will still buy one of these 2 Pokemon games probably, even tough I always end up complaining that they get easier with every entry, and not because one is getting older or with more experience.
@Thoughts wow I really thought they developed Stray too, like they are mentioned together everywhere: https://annapurnainteractive.com/ But I may be wrong if it was another developer studio as you mention. But yes, definitively a great game in the end.
Annapurna did an amazing job with Stray, so I would love to see what else they can offer. But really short games like these belong to subscription services like PS Plus. I would love for Nintendo to do the same with Indies like this in their NSO subscription which basically I only pay for MK8 DLC
Oh you can't play me like that. I saw the image and thought that a new direct was just announced.... Yes keep Nintendo Directs alive and announce them with time in order to have those beautiful hype and theory fueled days in between
Looks great tbh. I always prefer SRPJs in my Switch, miles ahead of other consoles, but this looks a little bigger than normal. Not sure if PS5 or Switch, which would be the best experience for me with this one.
Overall GOTY and possible game of the Decade as some mentioned is ELDEN RING for sure.
Switch related, I am still playing Triangle Strategy, but has been the best so far this year.
EDIT: I forgot about Disco Elysium. It is N1 Switch game I played this year definitively
I've waited a long time for this game to be on switch because I also prefer long RPGs to be played handheld as some mentioned. Sadly, I recently heard that these games are too easy compared to others such as SMT or DQ on their hard/draconian modes, which I found really appealing due to the challenge and having to think each boss cautiously (Although I confess dying a lot) which is part of the fun.
Never played a Persona game before. I really loved SMTV last year, and loved playing it directly on hard mode, but I heard that Persona games, although having more heart and story, are much easier which I don't like. Still a possibility
Actually I am playing the last game on my current switch backlog (Triangle Strategy) but there is nothing launching soon that I really want to check (Still not sold on XC3), so if the Direct is not released soon with juicy announcements, then I will be getting the ps plus extra subscription next and focus on games like Ghost of Tsushima and Demon's Souls until BOTW2, Silksong or something of that magnitude is released
A welcome possibility. I think that they will make a better game than EA. Goodbye to Switch and future Nintendo consoles probably, but what we have been receiving is trash anyways. I will be happy with an improved game in other consoles now.
The real downside is that we are probably loosing the $20ish sale just one month after each release every year now.
Animal Crossing New Horizons
I knew it was not for me, but with the lockdowns starting at that time, no other big releases and everyone hyping about it... I just fell in the trap. I understand why everyone else loves it, but it just isn't my cup of tea. Luckily a few weeks later I discovered Hollow Knight and that was something else
Sad, because I really enjoyed both Immortals (good surprise) and Mario+Rabbids lately. @Paraka They are just informing news here, I don't think NL wants them to be bought as this will most probably imply less Nintendo games from the studio
@Branches Yes, if you had an unlimited budget and time to play all the games that seem at least a little interesting to you, then yes, who would care about critics' reviews. But as that is not the case for most people and you need to choose, universal acclaim like this definitively encourages you to try the game. I played 8 out of 10 of those games listed above, and for me, critics were right
Oh I forgot about this one. It is going to be a really hard time deciding which games to buy with Triangle Strategy, Kirby, this one and so many others launching soon
Best Nintendo Direct in years for me. So many games releasing in so little time and without having budget will require decisions. MK8 the best announcement
So, leakers were right this time? They also mentioned news regarding MK9 and Silksong. Zelda title, and Splatoon 3 news seem like a must. My wish? A new Fire Emblem
"Surprisingly Difficult" a Pokemon game of today?!? Now they got my attention again. I bought a couple of other games in the latest eshop sale thinking that this would be a Monster Hunter for little kids... Maybe I was wrong
For me too, this is an end-of-the-day unwind game with friends. I tend to play it on PS4 instead of switch, but this weekend I sent the PS4 back to my brother (we take turns with it, switch is mine), and playing Fortnite back on Switch is a bigger downgrade than I remembered. But still fun
Saw this and went directly to the eshop and bought Tetris Connected. Sadly I remembered that my Nintendo Swith Online subscription ended last month and maybe I should renew it to play this online, something I did not plan for
I got really excited about this one when first announced, but the interest has been decreasing since, especially as it has been moving from a BOTW like to an MH-like game with each trailer and update, which I do not prefer. If the reviews are fine and there is at least some degree of challenge in the game (something pokemon has totally lost in the last years), it can still be a good option
Okay, this might be the right time for Disco Elysium or Tetris effect, or maybe both? Or maybe Blasphemous?! Or Death's Door?!! In any case, wallet is going to hurt
Seemed like a great list until I reached the first places. How is it possible for someone that has played more than 1 game in his life to put Pokemon Sw/Sh so high? Splatoon was too high too. The rest seems fine
This is my first entry in the SMT games and it has been much better than expected. The story is not great so far (30 hours in), but the gameplay is superb. I am playing it on hard, having to grind a little, but never had to repeat a boss more than 2-3 times. It forces you to understand the mechanics and build a solid competent team according to the occasion in that difficulty. And I love it. Game of the year so far for me.
Tetris Effect may be a good choice to get now and play in between some of my SMTV sessions. Sadly, I was hoping for a Disco Elysium discount too but seems like it is not happening.
@link12684 Already bought it and already enjoying it on hard difficulty, and I am happier than ever that I bought it instead of this game because of that exactly. It is something that will never happen, but just imagine a mainline Pokemon game with that level of challenge in the main story. Perfection
@Rpg-lover absolutely. But each game is easier than the last and that is not good either. You cannot compare Gold/Silver era with the SwSh. I literally finished it without using a single revive or losing a battle. It was lame. I would add difficulty options as most jrpgs do these days. I am not asking for SMT´s hard or Dragon Quest´s Draconian Quests difficulty (It would be amazing), but give us something more

Re: Talking Point: So, What Did You Think Of Nintendo's June Mini-Direct?
Much better than expected. The bar was too low due to the "Mini" and "Partner" thing. Nothing that yells first day buy for me, but still good
Re: Round Up: Every Game And Trailer From The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase June 2022

I was very dissapointed yesterday after the words 'Mini' and 'Partner' were mentioned, but it honestly was much better than expected.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Launches On Switch This October
Love the first game, but the new mechanics in this one.... not so much
Re: Watch: Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase
Much better than expected, although I did not like the new Mario+Rabbids mechanics, which was an easy buy for me
