@Yoshif3 you may have gotten dozens of responses already but my opinion on Dark Dawn is that it fails as a sequel because it doesn’t feel like it takes place in the same world as the previous games, and commits the sin of undercutting the victory of last game by “oh actually there are side effects”
Not to mention there are very few returning characters and those who do appear don’t feel very consequential or continuous from before.
That said I do like the new party members pretty well.
Over all it felt more like an inferior reimagining than a proper sequel.

@Ryu_Niiyama I don’t think anyone’s painting anything as worse than it was.
One bit of context that affects what you are saying about the nature of business pitches is that Itoi and Miyamoto were already well-acquainted at this time, and in fact Miyamoto looked up to Itoi when he was new to the industry.

Content creators and media have been going on about this for years, but I don’t think the average consumer sees the switch as old or behind. If the games are fun and the functionality is cool, people are interested.
Personally, I do find it disturbing to hear the fan running now…

This is the only farming sim I’ve played and I remember it fondly, but it sounds like it’s best left in the past. Very funny review! 5/10 sounds generous.

Unfortunately I’m too busy with TotK to get to any of those quiiiiiute yet.
Pikmin 4 was good too, even though I was personally a bit letdown after 3 deluxe.

Considering the kid intentionally shared the images with friends — friends who knew about 4chan no less — I'm guessing this was more like a teenager. Bet it was a wakeup call that his actions could have such drastic consequences.

I think it often comes down to a kind of tribal mentality that sacrificing the infidel is the only way to keep ourselves pure. Mercy is seen as endorsement while punitiveness is seen as moral character.

@Crono1973 if the reason SoS included him is because of his charitable donations then yes, you are right. But I thought it was more because of his support for their game, which is not the less true because of his crimes.

I have no scruples about Jirard being punished for his fraudulence, and I do think he deserves to lose his YT career, but I assume whatever he did for this game and its creators is no less true because of his sins.
Thus SoS removing him like that strikes me as pretty ungrateful. I think it’s ok to have the perspective “we’re grateful for what he did for us personally and sorry to learn that he was morally bankrupt in other arenas.” I feel like there’s some nuance to be had in that even bad people have some good in them, and even good people have some bad. If they really had a friendship with him as he asserted, a true friend wouldn’t disown you until after pushing you to admit and make up for your wrong behavior first.
Again, I am no defender of The Completionist.. just not in favor of rewriting history to pretend life was more ideal than reality.

I’ve loved zelda for over 20 years, but this kind of thinking is narrow-minded, and the worst thing about Nintendo to me.
How restrictive would the gameplay be if they just made the story match up? They’ve already made it abundantly clear that the story isn’t a major focus for the development, and it’s not like they’d be limited in location or characters..

Still one of the best combat systems in the series! I beat it twice back in the arcane days; rewind feature is a lifesaver 😂

Man it’s hard to choose just two! I do agree with the Lullaby as top spot though. Makes me think of that final scene with Zelda up in the clouds.

I do think the best two warp songs are your bottom two though. And the forest one is also really handy because you can use it to get to a fairy fountain and tunnels leading to Kokiri Forest, Zora’s Domain, and Goron Village; making it a very multifaceted warp.

I agree that it is a fun, well-designed dungeon, but it was a struggle for me to find where to go at times.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that one key in the bottom of the central pillar room place. That one did me in before and they clearly made it easier in the 3DS version

Can't believe no one said the Lon Lon Ranch! That place was so idyllic to me.
Also Kokiri Forest, and the area on the peak of Death Mountain. Also there are some odd little cutaways in Hyrule Field and areas of random walls to sit on.

Edit: Oh! And the pot room in next to the Castle Town Drawbridge!

I remember this for the wrong reason.
It was my first Zelda game to be released since I moved to Japan! And… for some reason that was the one and only time that a Zelda game was released a month earlier in the west than in Japan.. I had to wait until 12/26! 😩

Aw man I forgot about the Scarecrow’s Song and didn’t realize Lizalfos already had appeared. I guess in AoL, though normally the enemy names are wacky in that one.

I think delay often indicates a lack of clear vision for the project.
On the other hand, Majora's Mask is a famous example of a "rushed" game with a tight deadline that is well-regarded.

I’ve always been curious about this game but I’m afraid it’ll be too “of its time” to play now that the genre has evolved so much.

I've completed 105 shrines, 78 roots, 8 tears, 3 sages, 455 koroks. Still a whole lot of sidequests to work on, and my house needs some renovation too.

Not in to this version of the character, not in to micro games

I do tend to enjoy Sonic side scrolling better than Mario, but the Mario brand is at all-time heights and growing higher, while Sonic is more trying to get a foothold.
As far as movies he had a good head start.

It Takes Two with my wife, TotK by myself

For me, X was a return to the series after skipping the DS era. I was disappointed at how easy it was, uninterested in the story, and realized that I had outgrown the series.
Never went back, though I may give Arceus a crack some time..?
When gen 9 was revealed I felt tempted but remembering my experience keeps me from setting myself up again.

I enjoyed Brigandine: Legend of Runersia and Tactics Ogre: Reborn , personally, but I haven’t played most of the games featured here.

I’m happy for Mario and all, but I am not convinced it’s for me

Very curious if the multiplayer in sonic will actually be good! Other than that… we’ll see about a sale for Mario.

My top requests are sequels for the Zelda Oracle games, which I’m sure is never going to happen. I’d also love one for LA.
Short of sequels I always thought drastically reimagined remakes (like FFVII is getting ) would be good, but now that they’ve remade LA in the almost lamest way possible (my opinion, of course) I’m not so excited about what they might do to the Oracle games…

Sticking with Zelda, I want more games which connect previous titles together! Nintendo is always so afraid of locking themselves in to a timeline but I think it’s be awesome to feature a game that shows how the Hyrule of ST is the same as original LoZ or etc.

Outside of Zelda: the revival of the Golden Sun series! Dark Dawn didn’t fit the story the first games were telling, so I’d like it retconned or at least paved over in a sequel.

Other than that… making Pikmin 5 more like Pikmin 3? I didn’t really love Pikmin 4 as much.

Getting out if Nintendo’s hands but… Banjo Kazooie? New Tactics Ogre..?

And I’d always love to see more new IP from Nintendo.

Both of the last Zelda games are not meant to be played under outside influence. Try to create your own experience, or better yet, play with someone on the couch next to you to plan and discover together.

@LadyCharlie Personally, I don't like the "edgy" post-emo thing going around like with Aubrey Plaza, which I think Fox was kind of at the earlier forefront (though I guess there's always been a niche for that in media). There was also some interview she gave where she was like "F* everybody at my lame catholic school, they weren't nice to me" or something. Like come on, you're a wealthy actress now and they're probably all just normal people. Is there any point in gloating at them? Immature bitterness, not something I respect.

All that said, I don't take issue with her being here since it's kind of on-brand for her and I don't even care about MK.
