Making the princess “strong and confident, with real agency” has been called innovative since before any of us were born. And I guess it’s going to generate articles even long after we’re dead.

Of course Kanji looks great, but I don’t like all the other clutter (“Gameboy Advance” in two languages, “for 1-2 players”, “A fantasy RPG” … though one could argue that the western version does the same with the giant GBA margin and the silly “seal of quality”

I feel like “Link” is too default

@tseliot this isn’t talking about most games, it’s about Spirit Tracks where she accompanies Link for the entire adventure.
If you haven’t tried it I would definitely recommend — very humorous Princess Zelda!

No complaints on the top two, but Zelda is definitely one of the most memorable in the series

@Polvasti Pretty sure that wasn’t the case 5 years ago, as it was retroactively confirmed with the DLC. Many of us never got around to that addition years after the first playthrough. I wouldn’t have known, as I only discovered after seeing your comment and researching it a bit. Seems like the creator is self-inserting some, which is their prerogative.

I enjoyed this list, though can’t say I’m worried about the weapons or rain.
Hoping for a more substantial trailer soon. Enough ambiguity!

I’ve never sympathized with complaints about this mechanic, as I think it has an immensely positive impact on the gameplay, making you adapt and have variety. But I’d be open to however they push it in new direction.

Also I must be one of the only Zelda fans who doesn’t give a crap about the Master Sword. 😅

No thanks. Somehow doesn’t feel like a proper title to me; more like a spin-off.

I like both — it’s great not having to handle cartridges and switch them out for different games. but physical takes less storage on my SD, has a sense of permanent ownership, and I can lend it to other people to play or sell it if I don’t want it anymore.

Look, they were just doing a marketing job so nothing personal, but I never understood why anyone cares what they’re up to.

@BenAV out of curiosity, which others of the genre do you rank highly? I’m interested in Ender Lillies but haven’t been quite convinced to purchase yet.

Does Tactics Ogre not count as an eshop game?

Hardcore 20+year Zelda fan here. I’m on board with this theory. It definitely seems like there will be some connections with SS and it seemed like Aonuma was intentional to get people as familiar with SS as possible with the remake and the way it was announced.

@sleepinglion from the trailers, it looks like we may be encountering two Links in this game. Toga guy might be SS Link or a descendent.

Then played Gen 3, 4, 6 with diminishing returns. Gens 2-3 remain my favorite, though I always hear good things about 5.
Started Let’s Go but couldn’t stay interested.

Personally I’d probably go with Snowhead in MM or one of the latter Oracles dungeons, but there are many great ones.

@YoshiF2 Dungeons are but one of the various reasons Zelda games can be great. WW also has weak dungeons but is pretty stellar in other regards. BotW’s heights are master achievements.

Tactics Ogre Reborn!

A rare preorder for me.
I loved Knight of Lodis for GBA and have been hoping for the series to come back ever since.

I claim 100%, but actually I have 29 koroks left and haven’t completed the final horseback archery challenge..

I played it a lot in the first 2 months I guess but it started becoming more of a chore than a game to me.. also I felt like there wasn’t enough interactivity with my neighbors. Always felt like they’re doing their own thing but don’t really care about me. Whatever that means.

@PtM I don’t necessarily need him to be cool, but I don’t enjoy the “he’s foul and stinky! Watch him shake his butt and be gross!” version.

While I’ve always been irritated and confused by his SSB representation, I hadn’t considered 3 distinct eras before. Very interesting. I hope we can go back to his non-gross days again..

@Burning_Spear oh yeah I definitely appreciate being able to dock it and show/play with friends! I just don’t relate to those who ONLY play docked ^^

I am increasingly alienated from people who say they don’t use the handheld mode.

I was really interested to hear about the reasons Harvest Moon had declined, but this article’s characterization of marriage options as a significant contributing factor is like saying that people don’t like Disney’s StarWars because there aren’t yellow lightsabers.

@nimnio it has appeared in the many game “sizzle reels” before, at least in the Japanese directs.

@KoiTenchi as a massive Zelda fan who’s always heard that Okami is on-par, I was really disappointed; especially with the combat. Couldn’t last past the 10hr mark, personally

@EarthboundBenjy personally I found the lore of Portal 2 to be a lot better. I was constantly intrigued about what was going on, whereas the first portal had a much simpler plot. Portal 2 made me want to know more in ways that the original didn’t as much.

Who notices these things?

Played it just a few years ago and was blown away by the storytelling. Way above the typical DQ fare, especially for that era.
Although in typical DQ fashion there’s not much buildup to the true boss.

I’ve always said LA because it’s one of the easier games, it has a decent story that isn’t so redundant as the “3 items then Master Sword then more dungeons the Ganon” formula that got recycled a few too many times.
For people saying LttP, I don’t think that is accessible to the average beginner.

I was really curious about Triangle Strategy but didn’t hear much buzz after release so…?
I love Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis so the Reborn game is a day 1 purchase for me.

NA looks more exciting

Weird to me that a direct sequel with the same engine and models would take longer than starting from scratch…
