Re: Japanese Fans Voted For Their Favourite Animal Crossing Villagers - Do You Agree With The Ranking?

DDFawfulGuy

The amount of Dom art I've seen is massive, so it makes that he's No. 1 for Japan. Some of it's a little weird though.
I have Dom too since someone was giving him away while I still have slots to fill on my island. Same thing happened with Beau.
I've also got Marshal and had Stitches in NL. Nice to see classics like Fang in the list too.
Shame there's no more love for Merengue or Elvis. I mean, he's the king!

Re: Random: Animal Crossing's New Update Implies The Existence Of Guillotines

DDFawfulGuy

I don't think real world history being heavily implied in AC's world is a big surprise. I mean every other seasonal item includes details on what holiday or event it represents, meaning it's full of real world history. Which means things used to kill people would also exist. Like knives, or cannons. Or that thing that looked like an electric chair in New Leaf, lol. All kinds of things are implied in AC. Like all female kangaroos are single mothers and even some art details reference the artists sex life etc.
That said, I'd bloody love it if we got an actual guillotine in NH! Or any other kind of weapon for that matter.

Re: Sakurai Explains Why Xenoblade's Rex Isn't A Smash Ultimate DLC Fighter

DDFawfulGuy

Wow, some of the comments here are awful.
Like people claiming they know how mechanics and premises in XC2 work yet they're very inaccurate.
Anyways, I was really looking forward to a Rex/Pyra combo coming to Smash. I think it's a bit unfortunate that Rex couldn't play a bigger part, but having XC2 reps at all is amazing. I think a Pokemon trainer kinda thing might've worked with Rex swapping between Pyra and Mythra's swords? But this works too. Their moves are cooler like this and it's certainly a step up from that Rex Mii costume, lol. I appreciate that Sakurai and his team did at least try adding Rex first.

Re: Sakurai Addresses High Volume Of Sword Fighters In Smash (Again), Reminds Fans It's Not His Call

DDFawfulGuy

I still never understand how people are upset about Nintendo adding a leading character from the latest game in their No.1 JRPG series to their Nintendo crossover game.
And just as surprised that they can't comprehend that a lot of video game characters, especially the main characters, wield swords, so you're going to get a lot of swordies in Smash. And it's not even a high percentage of the roster.
It seems rather childish to me, but hey, I've seen tons of new Pyra/Mythra art lately so at least most artists aren't salty about this.

Re: Hands On: We've Played Bravely Default II On Switch, And Here's What We Think So Far

DDFawfulGuy

Whoa, whoa, whoa....
SE is letting the guys who made the MOBILE GAME develop a Bravely game for the Switch?
Why?
I thought quite a few design choices seemed different (whoever thought holding + to view more info was a good idea should be sacked) but that's huge freaking change.
A lot of things are very similar to previous games though. The team asked for feedback just like with Octopath and it has the same character artist, right? Same composer as BD too. And the class designs are really, really good.
Having a team that only made a previous mobile game in the series makes me worry about the change in direction, but I enjoyed the demo and a lot of things/people working on the game are the same, I'm still looking forward to this.
I've already pre-ordered it, after all!

Re: Platinum Seems To Have Explained Why It's So Quiet About Bayonetta 3

DDFawfulGuy

Well at least there's a reasonable excuse.
Honestly, saying 'It's going smoothly!' once a month and then saying 'Just forget about it for a while' was VERY worrying.
If they were going to be so tight lipped about it then perhaps they shouldn't have announced it so soon.
I can wait, though. Bravely Default II is coming out this month, after all!

Re: Bravely Default II Producer Was Both "Ashamed" And "Relieved" By Player Feedback To Demo

DDFawfulGuy

Already pre-ordered but glad to see how seriously they take player feedback. And voice acting.
Someone else said they were done with UK accents in RPGs, but considering how many have American voices I'm totally up for more UK accents being used, especially when it's done WELL. Like I hated a lot of the voices in XC2, but loved XC1. And seeing Bravely try it out with decent voice acting, as well as being localised for the UK, it's bloody fantastic.
Saying that I'm looking forward to BD2 is an understatement.

Re: Zelda Voice Actress Patricia Summersett Speaks Out About Online Negativity And Criticism

DDFawfulGuy

As someone who's actually British, I thought Zelda had the worst voice acting in the game. You can tell when someone's forcing a British accent because the voice tends to be quite low and rough, like trying to voice force something downwards by using their throat. You hear it all the time with Zelda. I just wish that they got British people to play the royals if they can't find Americans that have experience with them.
Oh, but more on point, yeah. You really do need thick skin on the internet and she certain doesn't deserve abuse for trying to perform a role. Instead you can also blame Nintendo and their casting director/voice direction, lol.

Re: Nintendo Cancels Splatoon 2 NA Open Livestream, "Free Melee" Believed To Have Played A Part

DDFawfulGuy

Yeah, I don't think these hashtags are serving the purpose people want them to. Unless they just want take digs at Nintendo and don't care about the repercussions.
I honestly don't see why people think that this movement(?) would actually work, not like it ever has before to my knowledge.
And I'm sorry, did someone really suggest someone changes their Pokemon nicknames to #freemelee? Is that satire?
I'm honestly trying to hold back laughter because GAMEFREAK are pretty much the last ones you'd expect to listen to fans. And that's just one reason to laugh.

Re: Frame Rate And Resolution For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Demo Revealed

DDFawfulGuy

A lot of people have been commenting on the frame rate, but honestly? I haven't noticed anything. No amount of enemies on screen has once made me notice any drop in quality.
It almost makes me think some of them are just making it up, or making a mountain out of an anthill. Certainly doesn't seem like a good enough to reason to skip this game entirely.
However, for some reason the game outright slows down after I defeat an outpost boss and the treasure chests appear in bursts of light. I think the slow-mo might be on purpose, but it's kinda jarring either way.

Re: Paper Mario Producer Says He's "Not Opposed To The Fans' Opinions"

DDFawfulGuy

What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that he and his team are under orders from Miyamoto to NOT make a game too similar to TTYD.
Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure that if Shigsy gave him the creative freedom we'd most likely get the games the fans desire.
I don't know why some of you are gobbling up this 'innovative' lark when several Mario series use the same base each time and improved upon them. Mario & Luigi, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart etc. etc. None of them changed as much as Paper Mario did, they just evolved. Just like TTYD was to Paper Mario 64. So you can't tell me a game that improves or adds twists to TTYD would be a bad idea, we've already seen that continuously evolving a series works.
And let's not forget how Colour Splash was basically Sticker Star 2.0. How can you possibly say that the devs are making the right choices and everything they say makes sense when they literally got one game in the series and tried to improve on it which is exactly what we want done with TTYD? It makes no sense.
TL;DR: Saying that keeping the core game similar to TTYD would be boring or not a good idea is nonsense and hypocritical when several Mario IPs already do this and they even did it with their own games Sticker Star and Colour Splash!
I wish they'd just admit that Miyamoto has them on a creative leash and tell us what they'd actually create given the choice, but that wouldn't make for good PR, now would it?

Re: Poll: What's The Best Paper Mario Game?

DDFawfulGuy

So basically mines:
1. TTYD 10
2. SPM 9
3. 64 9
4. CS 7
5. SS 6

I haven't played Paper Jam Bros or TOK yet.

I'm actually not sure if 64 should be higher than SPM or not, but I have more fond memories of SPM and I played that one first. Plus SPM gave birth to Dimentio, one of my favourite villains!
Apparently some people have mixed feelings about SPM? Initially I was disappointed that it wasn't turn-based like TTYD but I still loved it absolutely. It carried on the great story telling and unique characters and villain etc. The platformer/RPG style just worked for me without issue.

Re: Review: Fairy Tail - A Disappointing RPG That's For Fans Of The Series Only

DDFawfulGuy

Imagine a world with consistently great anime video games...
Oh well, at least a lot of the Naruto, DBZ and One Piece games have been great. After finishing the anime a great Fairy Tail game would've been nice. I wish studios would work harder on these types of games. Don't the publishers want those huge sales? The more you put in, the more you get out.
And yeah, perhaps Nintendo Life isn't super into anime games, you'd think they'd have at least one anime fan to review games like this, lol, but if the cons are accurate I'll still avoid this game and wait for an anime game that's not just average.

Re: Poll: So, What Was Nintendo's Best Year Ever?

DDFawfulGuy

I'm pretty awful and remembering stuff like this, but I saw that the commercial success that was the DS and the greatest game of all time, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door released in the same year, 2004. Therefore it's Nintendo's Best Year, lol.
I must've been around 10 years old at the time, and right in the middle of enjoying the best years of my life, the Gamecube era!

Re: Nintendo Is Deleting Hacked Dream Island Uploads In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

DDFawfulGuy

Meh. I'm not too bothered about this.
Nintendo has been iffy and protective of their online features/IP for a while now and it's not unusual for those who try to hack and go online to get punished. Sucks for them though.
Anyways, I heard that you need an ID to see dreams and you can't search for Random Dreams or try to pick a theme or name like in New Leaf? If so, isn't that a bigger issue?

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase Meet Your Expectations?

DDFawfulGuy

Honestly when I found out it was a mini I didn't expect anything like BOTW2 news or a big reveal. Yet somehow I was still disappointed. Like I would've been satisfied with some short, possibly new clips of previously announced games, especially Bravely Default 2!
Instead we got just 4 games I had little to no instead in that didn't even last 10mins. Barely seemed worth a direct.
So basically: https://i.imgur.com/gSRPUc7.png

Re: Paper Mario Producer Says It's No Longer Possible To Modify Mario Characters

DDFawfulGuy

Frankly I'm heart broken.
These rules do nothing for the series and I'm very disappointed that the devs didn't try to challenge it. As if the voices of fans of the original Paper Mario games and SPM fell on deaf ears.
The things we already loved they experiment and change, yet the things we enjoyed were changing are now kept stale. And for what purpose? So their Nintendo characters don't seem too different from usual? In a spin-off game that was originally called Mario Story and a proper RPG?
This is a farce. I can't believe this is coming from Nintendo.
And it certainly doesn't explain several other changes in Paper Mario's direction either.
With this happening and Alphadream dying, I've pretty much given up on getting a proper Mario RPG ever again.
Perhaps the game is still enjoyable in its own way, but from what I've seen it doesn't really do anything better than TTYD or SPM besides humour. I'll have to play it myself to be certain, but that won't be until it's on a very steep sale.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

DDFawfulGuy

Wow. People complained about Sticker Star and Colour Splash's combat system and the lack of incentive and Nintendo goes and makes a battle system you want to avoid completely because it's not even fun either, lol.
Outside of boss battle I'm not seeing much gameplay here.
So the score does seem a little odd.
But having played SS and CS I'm certain the humour and scenarios are top notch.
Like a lot of other people I'm still majorly disappointed how it's not even remotely a return-to-form. But I hate missing out on a Paper Mario game, so I'll just wait until there's a really, really good sale and then give it a chance. If only for the story and humour.

Re: UK Charts: 3DS Game Bravely Second: End Layer Makes A Surprise Leap To Second Place

DDFawfulGuy

Bravely Second is a great game and an amazing sequel to Bravely Default. Those people are lucky and I'm glad so many more people in the UK get to experience it!
As mentioned, it should raise awareness of the series and increase BDII sales too. I just hope SE takes the criticism from the feedback and improves the battle system a bit (a lot) before release.
I took part in the feedback survey too and their honestly wasn't a lot you could say.

Re: Bravely Default Producer Apologises For End Layer On 3DS, Says It Didn't Live Up To Expectations

DDFawfulGuy

I have agree with most of the other people here.
Bravely Second was an amazing game that improved a lot of things in Default. And usually people complain about Default's time loop.
Although for me it was fine, because it lets you face the bosses in different situations which makes it really interesting. You also get some optional dialogue just by going to certain places each loop.
Like you know where you fight Artemia? If you go back to those woods there'll be a Party Chat where Tiz will deluge some of his zoology knowledge. Much to the show-offy Ringabel's chagrin.

Back to the point, he doesn't need to apologise about anything. It's the reactions to the BD2 demo that he should be worried about, lol. I hope they take the feedback to heart and improve the combat and menu system. I want to be able to fully immerse myself in that game as much as Default or Second!

Re: New Splatoon Artwork Celebrates White Day In Japan

DDFawfulGuy

If you've watched enough anime then you'll have heard of White Day before.
But never mind that, is no one going to talk about the actual tweet?
The message is nice, but what does Agent 8 and Agent 3 hovering over C. Q. Cumber have to do with Valentine's Day or White Day?
