Today's the day, folks - Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is out today on Nintendo Switch in Europe and Australia.
Marvelous Europe has shared a new launch trailer to keep the hype going (see above) and you'll find the game waiting for you at select retailers or on the Nintendo Switch eShop for £42.99 / €49.99 / $79.95. If you're located in North America, you won't have long to wait, as the game will also be launching across the US and Canada on 14th July.
If you haven't already, make sure to check out our full review to see whether or not the game is for you. We'll even leave you a snippet below - aren't we nice?
Though its roots as a handheld game occasionally resurface and there’s not a ton of new content added for this remake, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town more than stands enough on its own as a quality game that deserves a spot in your Switch library. If you’re looking for something to fill that post-Animal Crossing hole in your life, or are just simply a fan of the farm sim genre in general, don’t miss out on this one.

If it ever ends up in the bargain bin I might grab a cheap copy but aside from that I'm passing on this one purely due to the art style. I'd rather just play the original if I really wanted to play the game as that has a lot more charm to it than the remake.
I just can't get past the artstyle. It looks so cheap, like a mobile game. Maybe I'll get it if it ever ends up on a huge sale since I want to play a Harvest Moon game again, not sure though.
I love SoS games, but the price seems a bit steep for a fairly basic remake, so I think I’ll wait for it to drop to around £30 or less before I take the plunge. My gaming backlog is way too full to fit another game, anyway - I’m still playing AC daily, have just started Xenoblade Chronicles, and I have a Golden Deer FE run I need to finish. On top of that, I’ve been meaning to do another run on Breath of the Wild for ages, and I have a copy of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon my partner got me for my birthday (almost four months ago) that I’ve barely touched, so I’m probably set for the next six months as it is. 😅
Edit: replaced a word
Harvest moon Meets Animal Crossing.
Clone crossed over and the price is another super high price.
😱 £42 🤯 I thought around £20-25 would be enough as it is a remaster
@Jooles_95 SO?
@sandman89 Sorry, I’m used to shortening it - that stands for significant other, aka my partner. 😅
@ritouf Agreed. Absolutely no way is that re-hash worth first party prices.
There is no excuse for this “remaster” to look butt ugly like this in 2020 and for this price! They must be drunk.
Games like this reminds me how much I want Stardew Valley or Graveyard Keeper in physical form for the Switch.
I guess it is up to the publisher to opt in for a cartridge release
@Jooles_95 ah😆 I just couldn’t figure it out
Hehehe. The game is cheap in Mexican pesos, basically what you'd expect for a remake. So that was a definite prepurchase from me.
@BenAV Couldn't agree more with everything you said.
@Zuljaras You and me both!
I have to agree that the art style looks pretty cheap.
Which is a shame, because I really wanted a good, proper Harvest Moon game. Haven't played one in forever.
Personally, I'd like something like Magical Melody.
The game looks the way it does because they are staying faithful to the original art style and look from the original GBA version, and honestly i think they did a splendid job at giving it a fresh new life in recreating the full game from 2D to full complete 3D!
