Re: NIS America No Longer Publishing Atlus Games In Europe

CTMike

@scubydo NIS America publish stuff in Europe, that's what this concerns.

Edit: Sorry, article says it's also Atlus publishing NIS games in America apparently, though I didn't even know that was a thing. NIS doesn't publish US Atlus games, right? I though Atlus did that themselves.

Do Atlus publish NIS games in the US?

Re: Star Fox Zero Makes a Positive Start in the UK Charts

CTMike

I'm really enjoying SF, especially in co-op mode. If you have someone to play with you locally, I would thoroughly recommend it.

I don't hate the control scheme, it just feels largely unnecessary and elsewhere, a little forced. There are moments where it 'clicks' but it's in short bursts for me.

I find co-op is way more fun, personally. The review average is unfair in my eyes, as it's a decent, polished game.

Re: Guide: Unlocking Every Stage in Star Fox Zero

CTMike

Great, thanks for putting this together! I'll definitely refer to this after my first playthrough.

I'm already planning on taking a less comfortable middle seat on the sofa based on your tips actually! Can't wait to finish work and show off Star Fox to the family.

Re: Bravely Default Producer Would Love To Bring The Series To Home Consoles

CTMike

@Captain_Gonru yeah, I'm with you there. I play far more RPGs on Vita & 3DS than on PS3/PS4/Wii U (not that there's much beyond Xeno and soon to come TMS/SMT).

However, for me, the vast majority is still played at home but that's because it's easy to suspend play and move from room to room or sneak a 30 min go in while still being 'available' if anyone needs me, on a handheld.

If NX has an advanced Gamepad style solution (which is looking likely) then I should be OK but anyone who wants to play on the go will be hamstrung unless they do a dedicated handheld.

On topic: I think Bravely would do great adapting the art style as is. Maybe look to Vannilaware efforts.

Re: Rumour: The Pokémon Company Plans to Make a Big-Budget Live-Action Pokémon Movie

CTMike

I've always disliked the horrifically flat anime, being near 30 now and considering when it was released in the UK, I was too old to take anything from it but have always loved Pokemon on the gaming side, merch/image side and dabble in the card side on occasion.

This holds little appeal for someone like me (of course I'll wait to see how it comes out, but still) however I know my son and daughter would love this. Frankly they need to mirror the anime somewhat to make the real money, I think.

Shame there wasn't a bigger fanfare over the Origins anime, now THAT was good.

And I have seen bits of the newer episodes (via my son). It is still awful.

Re: Guide: All The Nintendo NX Release Date Rumours, Details, Games And More

CTMike

Nice article. Love me a bit of NX hype/speculation. I will be very happy if the controller doubles as a handheld but the more you put all this tech together, the more it seems like expecting might be a bit lofty - Nintendo like a low price point, this doesn't seem possible given all that is rumoured.

I think Sqeenix backtracked on that 10 mil FF15 comment though. I can't imagine e they expect to sell that many, especially with no immediate PC version planned.

Re: The Ace Attorney Anime Series is Waiting For You On Crunchyroll

CTMike

Loved it. It was exactly what I expected from it. I wasn't looking for anything epic, juSt for them to capture the outlandish cheesiness from the game and they nailed it.

Premium Cruncyroll is great as it's so inexpensive for what you get. Never have any issue with any stream and everything looks great - always high res.

Re: Pokémon Go Field Test is Underway in Japan, Though Leakers Are Getting Removed

CTMike

I find it odd that people keep suggesting others were expecting a full Pokemon mainline style experience but honestly, I don't see anyone saying that. I wouldn't even interpret this fella's 'raising' comment as that either.

No, I get the impression most were expecting something with substance even if it wasn't the usual Pokemon affair. I'm still eager to see more and get a full picture of what this game's about but the early signs aren't promising.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Was Wrong To Turn Its Back On The Wii Remote

CTMike

Good man for expressing your own opinion in balanced way. Got to say though, the only implementation of the Wiimote beyond Wii Sports was WarioWare: Smooth Moves - the accuracy wasn't needed because the mini games were inventive.

Even Galaxy could've been adapted to play better on a standard controller in my opinion.

Re: More Official Pokémon Go Gameplay Details Emerge

CTMike

I don't know, I don't like the sound of not having battles with wild Pokemon and, maybe I'm asking for too much on an overlay of Google Maps but, it all looks a bit cheap. They should maybe automate more of the 'AR' animations and perhaps go for an art style that doesn't feel quite as superimposed (again, I realise I'm asking for a lot here), maybe saturate the RL colours on the camera to make it look a little brighter and Pokemon-ish?

I'm not convinced at all but I suppose the upshot of having my hype killed is that when we know more, my low expectations can hopefully be exceeded!

Despite the above I will get it and give it a proper go first. How much more development time are they planning?

Re: Community: Pick Your Favourite Nintendo 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition

CTMike

I would have preferred a list to be fair, it's too time consuming to search for individual games given the sheer volume of decent games I own on the system.

Could you change the format to simply list all games on a single page and provide a simple tick box at the side to add games to your own collection? That can't be too difficult to implement, right?

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight

CTMike

I hate to join the judgmental crowd but seriously, I can't get behind anything without physical buttons. 'Innovative' is fine but something like this reeks of gimmick. Which third party devs would seriously buy into this?

I'm calling fake or early prototype. They could easily make something almost identical to this and add a few small buttons without losing the new functionality/look.

Re: Editorial: Accessibility Through Optional 'Invincibility' Buffs Can Only Be a Positive for Nintendo

CTMike

I think the only idea I can come up with in support of unpopular argument that this sort of option shouldn't exist is that, in certain genres, and, if widely adopted, mass market may always opt for the easy option and devs could use this to skimp on AI.

I honestly don't believe or support that idea, I'm attempting to rationalise the irrational. Truth be told I believe that gaming has to be all about options and a customised experience. Without choices, we'd be watching TV.

Re: Future Of Project Giant Robot Is Still Up In The Air, Says Miyamoto

CTMike

I don't where this would fit. Mario & Luigi RPG boss fight? Though without a console entry, that's impossible and it seems to be a bit too much to relegate to a fight.

It would have a form a mode of another game or would need to be a low price budget eshop effort, I think.

Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the idea of this but mass appeal (especially with motion controls), might be difficult.

Re: Miitomo Launches in Japan on 17th March

CTMike

@WebHead this.

They are simply not marketing Miitomo, yet relying on it to get non-Nintendo users to make a Nintendo account.

I was expecting some TV ads to kick start it in all honesty. Maybe try to forge a (marketing) link between his and Tomodachi Life for a bit of leverage? But nope, nothing.
