Avex - the company which produced the music for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE - is holding auditions in Japan to look for "new talent", a move which has sparked rumours that we could be getting more content for the game, either in the form of a sequel or DLC.
Kaori Fukuhara - who provided the voice of Mamori Minamoto - is set to appear as a host during the event, where candidates will take part in acting and singing segments. The songs in question are all taken from Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and one of the judges is none other than Yoshiaki Fujisawa, who acted as composer on the Wii U game.
The winners of the event will be rewarded with an appearance as a voice actor in a "new RPG", voice acting and dance lessons from Avex staff and the possibility of a debut as a new Avex voice actor.
The involvement of key Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE personnel - twinned with the fact that Avex's experience in the RPG realm is limited - suggests that this new venture could be tied to the Wii U game in some way, either as add-on content or a sequel. Of course, it's just as likely that it could be an entirely new RPG as well.

DLC content seems like a solid bet.
please please please please have characters from more games than shadow/dark dragon (and the blade of light) and awakening
Those two games have possibly the worst casts in the entire series imo (Awakening being the better of the two because atleast the characters there have more lines of dialogue than a generic death quote) and I was very disappointed to find out that this crossover was just Awakening and Shadow Dragon characters, redesigned to the point where I can barely recognise them. I was hoping to see fan favourites from the entire series such as Joshua, Sigurd, Ike, Hector, the great Erk etc but nope, just Awakening and Shadow Dragon.
Although it will probably just be FE1/11 and 13 again with some added Fates.
Not a hope is this game getting a sequel. It was a complete flop in Japan and Nintendo are skimping on localising it for its Western release, that's how much faith they have in it.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It didn't do well? That's a shame. I was really hoping this would be the stellar JRPG the Wii U's catalog so desperately needs.
I can't wait for the game he release! But I am very concerned as to how much will be cut for 'censorship' that Nintendo will call 'localization'. I understand covering up the girls but I hear we will lose then entirety of the dlc that takes place at the bath house.
New game as bad as the old one sold in Japan? I don't think so. Would love to see that happen but we don't even know how popular this will be in the west yet. Plus I'm surprised it will even have dlc with such low sales.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'll still play it. I love atlus RPGs. It don't have to sell millions of copies for me to have fun with it.
As the strange silly fella above me mentioned, I'm just praying the goons at the "localization" team doesn't cut half the content of the game. That seems to be their trend these days.
I doubt it'd be a sequel, given that it wasn't really all that successful in Japan (heck, even dlc would be surprising at this point.).
I don't care! Sequel or DLC! More jRPG is always good!
No. No. We cannot have another one of these. Surely the poor sales made that clear enough?
@Spoony_Tech and @GloverMist are right. Curious to see what this is for, but I think adding DLC or trying to make a good game is not a very good idea considering how poorly it did in Japan. Maybe they're waiting to see how it does in the west...? o.o
I still need to play this one when it comes out in June, and I'm still excited to play it. I'd be a tiny bit surprised if a sequel was already in the works this soon, but then again, it's not impossible. Project X Zone 2 for example began development shortly after PxZ 1 was localized.
Project X Zone 2 Creator Interview, NintendoLife
DLC does seem to be more likely though if it is for TMS #FE, but this audition might not even be related to a sequel or DLC, so I guess we'll just have to wait.
A new RPG? Ughh, i was expecting that it'd be like the Street Fighter x Tekken/Tekken x Street Fighter thing. like this time, the Fire Emblem elements would be more defined, as an actual turn-based strategy game. seems weird considering that SMT x FE seems more Personalike, FE already has relationship values as part of compatibility values.
Definitely would be cool if it started off with a Demi-Fiend as a self insert and you challenge other demon lords to get them to your side, or add SMT series stuff into the game like Moon Cycles and Alignment. which would basically be an ingame story-split similar to Fates.
I really think that Atlus knew that the game took too long to reveal, so they just cut their losses and threw it under a bus by calling it something else, leaving only the #FE part of the logo as something barely recognizable. it's a little bad that 2 FE games has already came and passed by the time that the English release comes out.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Project X Zone was a flop too, but it still got a sequel. A game being a flop doesn't completely rule out any chances of a sequel.
Probably DLC or some expansion of some kind. The game sold terrible in Japan. Media and Idol themes in Japan is like Mountain Dew and Doritos in America, even Japan are tired of seeing them in games.
That said, I might get this, if only because the Wii U needs proper JRPGs.
@DarthNocturnal for the Wii u,NX and new 3ds.
Could be an NX port with new content (Director's Cut if you will.). After all, this game is arriving rather late in the Wii U's life cycle so it might want to gain some fresh new attention on the next platform...
I hope the DLC will come to the west! (If it's fan service DLC it probably won't)
It could be more likely DLC but I wonder if they will put it on NX with added content I don't think so tho.
The game sold horribly in Japan so I doubt a sequel is in the works. But hey I like JRPG's so I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel even though the 1st one doesn't come out until June here in NA.
Game bombing in Japan doesn't mean anything, really. There are cases of "bombed in Japan, sold well in the West".
I like how they named it TMS #FE (looks oddly familiar with SMTxFE)
Very clever NoA
Q) Would you welcome fresh Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE content?
A) Whilst I have yet to play the game, what I've seen of it and know of it does appeal greatly to me, so more of said content would be most welcome. It's a large scaled turn based RPG on the Wii U; that alone has me loving it to bits, and what else I know just furthers my love of it.
I'm hoping that when Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE does come out, that I will have a wonderful time with it. In that case, if DLC or a sequel is to be expected for it, then that'll be a wonderful thing to look forward to.
It's kind of dumb considering I haven't even played the first yet... but I'm still hoping it's for a sequel.
Does seem a stretch though so probably DLC.
I've been excited for this game for awhile. Though it's not quite what I expected, the gameplay looks fun and I really like Atlus games as well as FE. Can't wait for the game, but highly doubt it gets a sequel. Who knows.
Yeah, most definitely not a sequel with its horrible sales. DLC seems very likely.
I'm down for more TMS content. Give the series a chance to shine, before dismissing it. I loved how they took usual crossover formula and did something different with the franchises rather then just making a Devil Survivor spin-off with FE elements. With TMS they found a common ground for both series to stand on and shine their best qualities.
Ok, that is a rumor I can get behind! Any additions to this game are welcome!
@SaKo That statement is often untrue, unfortunately, if the international sales history of games like the "Retro Game Challenge" series, Quest/Holy Magic Century, a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger, and (presumably) Pokemon TCG 2 are any indication. Games like X Zone, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, EarthBound, and Fire Emblem (2003) were only given international chances and sometimes sequels due to widespread recognition of massive fan demand for them, which the first group mentioned never had. The only way Nintendo (much less Western Nintendo subsidaries) will take a chance on a successor to this is if we endlessly annoy them about it, but likely not otherwise.
I don't know, the game sold like 25,000 in its first week in Japan. Project X Zone (1) sold .15 million total in Japan. So in 7 weeks, #fe would catch up to X Zone in japan. Of course, first week sales are typically exponentially greater than the rest, so even if that's half the sales the game ever makes in Japan, that's still 50,000 sales. 1/3 of what PXZ, a game that GOT a sequel, made on a system with well over 3X the sales of the Wii U.
In other words, it didn't sell well, but compared to what they expected it might not be abysmal enough to prevent a sequel. Not likely in the least, but that's where it stands.
An interesting rumour. I personally would welcome a sequel! Forget all the naysayers out there.
How do I welcome content for a game not even out yet?
@Gauchorino I'm going to laugh if the games that got localization controversies ended up getting "Director's Cut" editions on NX with all the removed stuff being part of the new features.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Wait, Chrono Trigger got a direct sequel?!?
@japongt Isn't Atlus doing the localization? Granted Nintendo is publishing, but Atlus doesn't really have much of a reputation for the kind of crap Treehouse and 8-4 have pulled in recent years outside of Dungeon Travellers 2.
I think it will be dlc.....or it could be a sequel or a port who knows?
Everyone seems to know that it sold horribly in Japan. That's news to me...
Not that I was interested in it anyway. There's hardly any Fire Emblem in it.
@BRAINFOX If only. The Executive Producer of Square-Enix stated there will be no sequel until the original starts to sell as well as Super Mario Bros. (exaggeration mine): http://www.destructoid.com/want-a-chrono-trigger-sequel-buy-more-remakes--135393.phtml
It is a shame TMS#FE did so badly in Japan.... Maybe we'll have a ProjectXZone and have the game sell better in the west.
I'd love a sequel to this, or DLC to develop more the characters' backstories.
And if it is a new RPG done by Atlus, I'll keep an eye on it!
@japongt @GN004Nadleeh They're expecting an M rating for it, if the fact that you can't view the game's trailers on youtube without signing in is anything to go by. But some of us have to make massive exaggerations and call people "goons" apparently.
@BRAINFOX Nope, it's NOA.
Huh? Really. Just because a game did not sell well doesnt necessary mean that they will not make a sequel. How many times did chibi robo make sequels before the makers finally said it code be their last game. I really wish people will just give this game a chance especially considering that it is a solid game especially by the people who actually review it. As for me, who did get the game and enjoy it, will be happy if it get a sequel.
@Gauchorino Well I guess there's still that Project Setsuna game to look forward to at least.
@CrazedCavalier I remember Amazon having it listed with a T rating when I checked their page. NoA handling the localization takes away some credibility from that rumor that Atlus was doing it along with the supposed edits, but it wouldn't be surprising if it ended up being true anyways.
@Frank90 +1
@SaKo Project X Zone wasn't a flop. It sold decently enough to warrant a sequel.
@BRAINFOX Oh. Well, it's not unheard of; Destiny had a similiar thing with several trailers, but got a T rating. Since games like BlazBlue and Project X Zone have gotten away with T ratings, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if that's what happened.
