@novasoup That would require actual effort, coming up with (brief) storylines and new areas to explore for these events. GF has learned they don't need to expend effort to get engagement or sales.
Wait... it's only been a year? Why does this feel like it's been out for more than that??
Anyway, I gave up on the experience after a couple months, since it was a battery muncher to be sure. And when all I have to do is just take a look at those rings on my Apple Watch to motivate me to move about some more, the app was redundant. Good effort, though.
I'm not sure what I'd want in terms of a new Mario. While more Odyssey sounds great on paper, I have this feeling Nintendo will deliver something else that will be just as good if not better.
They're not often about just giving us more of the same, so waiting to see whatever is next is better to me than another Galaxy or Odyssey.
And I get this impression the next Mario might take more inspiration from Bowser's Fury than anything else, which is okay in my book.
@Chunkboi79 For what its worth, I share almost all these opinions regarding Mana. The series is horribly inconsistent in quality, with even the darling Secret being more of a mess than anything.
My two cents: Legend is not any better, but it does have a fantastic premise and a great freeform approach to the story progression. Worth a shot at the very least.
Didn't see the film, because I'm not a big Tom Cruise guy, and I have a soft spot for the cheesy 1999 film with Brendan Fraser and (the walking goddess) Rachel Weisz.
But the game itself? Absolutely a fun time, and worth the small price of admission.
@Fizza It literally took my brain a minute to process your comment, because I had to remember that Quintet was also a real word with a real meaning, not just the developer's name.
And to piggyback off that, while called a loose trilogy, technically Quintet also made two additional games often included with these three, resulting in... well, you get the idea. 😂
What are the odds that a few days ago, I decided to start watching a long play on Youtube for this game, since I never got around to playing it and had too much on my plate to add it to the backlog?
I'll add this video to the "watch later" list, because this game, along with the rest of the Quintet Trilogy, deserves more love and appreciation.
@garfreek It was more the visual novel approach. It's not my favorite kind of game, but exceptional or unique concepts usually get me to try things outside my comfort zone.
999 was that, but it was a lightning in a bottle situation for me. I believe around the time, stuff like Dangan Ronpa was big among circles I frequented, which further soured my desire to give anything else similar to 999 a chance.
Tunic truly was a gem of a title. I got it on a Steam sale and played through it in a weekend.
Fortunately for me, I'm a musical idiot, so even reading about this made absolutely no sense to me. But the less I know about the game, even now, the better.
That track is so strong IMO, it still plays in my head as I walk about the world in my daily life. I'm always hearing it whispered in the back of my mind.
Also, shout out to Whims of Fate, which only plays in a single palace but is also hella strong.
And here I was thinking this would finally show us what happens when Mario hits a Goomba with a fireball and instead of them falling off the screen or poofing into a coin, they roast alive most gruesomely.
Schreier does good journalism, so I'm inclined to believe his anonymous sources.
If Taylor did expect six figures plus royalties, she overplayed her hand and overestimated her value to the company. She wanted to bank on this being a bail out of whatever struggles she admits to going through in her life. And her "supposed" greed bit back.
As others have said, we'll likely never know the full story. But what we do know is thanks to the attention, Bayo3 may end up performing well above expectations. Thanks, Taylor! You might've ensured that the series gets a fourth entry.
I stopped the video 10 seconds in because holy hell is that girl obnoxious. It's everything horrible about idol culture fused with the in-your-face streamer influence nonsense wrapped into a single package.
So the actual employer paid out, and part of the pay out was that Nintendo do the bare minimum. As in: pay lip service to the fact that you "can" unionize.
Sounds about right. Business as usual, and will continue as such.
But my desire to satisfy my personal sense of ownership trumps some weak resistance to scalper behavior or the complacency of companies when it comes to this.
I just went ahead and paid a ludicrous amount of money for the US Special Edition off eBay so I could line up the boxes on my shelf. I'm not happy with myself about that, but after the failure of Nintendo in this matter, I had little choice.
I remember all the drama around the first release years ago. Hate to say it's tainted my perception of the game, but perhaps some day, on the cheap and when I have more time, I might give this a go.
Games like this have always interested me, but never quite enough that I wanted to jump in, so to speak. I'm glad the Switch port is solid.
I genuinely wanted to play this back at launch, but I was unwilling to have a game of that size on my phone (too small a screen to play on).
But after being exposed to so much of the game via YouTubers I watch, as well as a toxic friend group that would not shut up about the game, I've decided it's best left unplayed.
Strange though, that the Switch port has taken this long...
I'm still waiting on Square to release the DQ3 remake in this style. Didn't care for Octopath 1, so will pass on the sequel.
I'm saddened it's been so long without an update on DQ3, but the Enix side of things, especially relating to Dragon Quest, always seem to take their time.
I actually had to double back and read the line about the game being complicated.
Nothing about TO is complicated. It's on the same level as Final Fantasy Tactics, or potentially Triangle Strategy (haven't played this one to confirm). The information dump was immense, sure, but clearly it felt more geared towards those who knew the underlying systems a bit more than the newcomers.
And it was all about how the process has been streamlined where needed, and improved where possible.
Remember: this is a SRPG from 1995. The bells and whistles surrounding it might be new and appeal to modern day sensibilities, but the bones are nearly 30 years old and rock-solid.
I read over everything they're changing or adding, and wowzers is it a huge step up from Let Us Cling Together on PSP.
I already considered that game top tier strategy, one of the best in the genre. But they've truly streamlined the experience further and made it all even more accessible!
@OwenGamer22 Ehh, I disagree. Still weak, like the rest of that game.
@fenlix Agreed. His work on Nocturne especially was phenomenal. I especially love the DDS soundtracks, and continue to hope that Atlus gives us ports of those. Even if it's the same (lazy) treatment they gave Nocturne.

Re: Casio G-Shock Launch A Limited Edition Super Mario Watch, And It's Gorgeous
Man I remember these kinds of watches from when I was a kid...
But... $150? Not in this day & age of smart watches, especially when you can get one on sale for not much more than the MSRP of this watch.
Re: Random: Nintendo Doesn't Want You To Get Mario Party Blisters This Time Around
The ONLY way to win that tug-o-war minigame is to burn a hole in the palm of your hand.
Nintendo knows this. Why you telling people to lose on purpose, Nintendo?

Absolute hell... that car mode one is a MUST BUY.
Re: Nintendo Introduces Chloe In Fire Emblem Engage
I actually really like her design.
Still on the fence with this game given series history, but I like her.
Re: Square Enix Releases 'Final' Tactics Ogre: Reborn Trailer Ahead Of Launch
Got my copy preordered.
November 11 cannot arrive soon enough!
Re: Dragon Quest X Offline Switch eShop Demo Goes Live In Japan
I'd gladly take this, if Square would be so kind...
I suppose I could download the demo myself on my Switch...

Re: Tactics Ogre: Reborn Switch Impressions Are Out, And It's Looking Really Good
This is my most hyped holiday release. I will be playing this for a couple months, especially during my holiday breaks from work.
Hoping it lasts long enough to tide me over until Theatrhythm in February.

I remember its predecessor fondly, but that style of game was never for me, so I skipped on this one and the sequel.
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Update Makes Minor Change To Cutscene

I'd love to replay the game again, but I want to hold for after the DLC is released in its entirety or at least has a release date.
Re: UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Pulls Ahead As Splatoon 3 Continues To Drop
Splatoon needs new content. We're creeping close to two months since launch, and we haven't gotten any new stages or additional gear/weapons.
I've been playing almost nightly for half an hour or so, but I'm starting to burn out playing the same content over and over...

Re: Check Out 30 Minutes Of Lovely 'Dragon Quest Treasures' Gameplay

Passing on this one. Was hoping for a classic RPG experience.

Re: Bayonetta's New Voice Actor Jennifer Hale Issues Statement About Bayonetta 3
A professional who respects the legal documents they sign? Fancy that.
I heard tell that because of all the coverage, Bayo3 has shot up in the Amazon sales charts, so the "boycott" might've had the opposite effect.
Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?
Nah, I'll still buy. I'll probably wait for a sale, since I wasn't going to play it any time soon, anyway.
One person feeling shafted out of dozens, if not hundreds who worked on the game is not reason enough to boycott, IMO.
As I've said before: my personal gratification is worth more to me than a half-hearted attempt at sending a message to a company.
Re: Review: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope - Creativity Trumps Challenge In This Delightful, Divergent Sequel
I got the first game on sale, and made it to the final chapter I believe before I quit and never went back.
I might do the same for this one; soon as a sale hits for 50% off or more, I'll give the game a look.
Re: Review: Persona 5 Royal - Finally On Switch, This Is The Very Definition Of Essential
I'm glad they were able to do a good job with the port.
Will be skipping this purchase as I already have the PS4 version. Looking forward to the P4G and P3P ports, however.

So strange they have guidelines for this, given that if people wanted to not be spoiled, they could just... not watch streamers?
Why this assumption that people are chronically glued to their screens and social media?

I had a fun 120 hours in Xeno3, but as much as I'd like to go back in for even more content, I'll likely wait until the end of next year to revisit.
I'll likely buy the DLC as well, but I want to see what else they throw our way in the meantime.
Re: Splatoon 3's Fresh New amiibo Launch November 11th, Here's What They Unlock
The outfits are super nice this time round.
But I've already dumped all my resources into my existing amiibo gear to give it the abilities I wanted, so I doubt I'd use them.
Still buying the amiibo, of course.

Still, Grass Type all the way. Team Bulbasaur, where you at?
Re: Poll: So, What Do You Think Of Mario's New Look?

He sounds fine.

It looks good. I genuinely expected far worse.
I'm going to see it at opening.
Re: Random: Splatoon 3 Fans Are Getting Concerned About The Use Of QR Codes
@Bizzyb
I'm primarily a docked player, so that would involve switching to handheld, and then using my finger to draw something.
I already can't draw well, and my finger is clumsy as all heck compared to a stylus 😂
So yeah, doesn't really work for me anymore. It's fine, though. There are far more artistically inclined people out there I can enjoy.
Re: Random: Splatoon 3 Fans Are Getting Concerned About The Use Of QR Codes
I used to post back in Splatoon 1, but without the Wii U gamepad I always found the same action in 2 and now 3 to be an absolute chore.
I do like checking out random posts here and there, but I'd never scan a QR code someone posted.
Re: Atlus Announces Persona 5 Royal Card Game, Arriving October 2023
