Re: Early Wii Remote Concepts Have Been Uncovered In The Nintendo Gigaleak

All consoles have a lot of shovelware. I just think it was more obvious in the Wii days because there was so much aimed at 'casual' gamers and it made it stand out.

But Nintendo didn't help themselves. Wii Party was no guitar hero or even donkey konga and the Wii had the worst single pokemon game of any console but it was a landmark console and the fact that people who had no interest in games such as my Nan could enjoy Wii Sports Bowling is a big deal, although I think the DS helped too.

The Wii did have some amazing games. In fact I've been rebuying lots in the last week. I cant wait to replay mercury meltdown revolution, excite truck and more.

Sadly there was so much shovelwear and too many awful rip offs of better games that didn't work. Brunswick Pro Bowling comes to mind.

Sadly even Nintendo made awful games for it. I only rented Wii Music but that would have been the biggest waste of money ever, and not being more powerful and hd absolutely limited what could be released, eg the version of Dead Rising it got, no Assassins Creed games, no GTA or Red Dead Redemption.

But what we did get were some of the best games ever made like mario galaxies, the definitive RE4 and proof that shooters could work better than on a controller with Metroid Prime 3.
It sure was a great time to be a gamer.

I liked the fighting motion controls. Bowling bombs was fun.

But I gave up at a minecart jumping sequence. I failed so much. It felt like it would not recognise my jumps and I eventually had enough.

I hope parts like that are kinder but I'm not paying £50. Maybe when its around £30.

I instead just rebought Wind Waker HD sealed for £35 on ebay instead. I always loved that one and am happy for my first replay in years.

As much as I love New Horizons, there's no getting around the missing features. Nook's Cranny remaining that size limits how much you can buy and has made it impossible to complete the full furniture sets. And where is Brewsters?

New Leaf is still my favourite because it was actually complete.

I have still put many many hours into NH. I love that game and am aiming to have all bugs and fish by the start of next year but it is annoying what is not there. Hopefully Nintendo will continue to add things ASAP.

Finally! Sonic 3 ahead of Sonic 2. Agreed 100%

But Sonic 3 ahead of S&K? As a secret game goes, no way no way no way.
S3&K is my fave Sonic of all but the 2nd half is superior. But I do like that Sonic 3 appeared to set Launch Base Zone up as a final level. The music against Robotnik in his arm of death was incredible.
But to me, S&K's final set of levels beginning with Lava Reef going all the way to Doomsday are perfect. And I love that all three characters got their own final stage.

I just can't love Hollow Knight. I'm fine with bosses having patterns to memorise. That's how old games worked after all. But they take so many hits that I died so many times and it became so frustrating, especially with the breakable charms.

It's a shame because the rest of the game is amazing.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

I had to create a password so I could log in and post. In England the special edition is £79.99 but I'm happy with that. It's a lot of content but back to the standard edition at £49.99 which I'm happy to pay and I usually never pay full price. After all I waited a year to get Ghost of Tsushima for £29.99 recently.

I've been waiting years for Dread (that teaser in Prime 3 made me even more hopeful) and to see the end of Samus' story sounds intriguing but ultimately, the guys that remade Metroid 2 know what they are doing, it looks superb and far more up to date than say pokemon diamond and pearl remake, and although not quite a 40 hour plus sized rpg like the final fantasy games, it has so much value in the around 20 hours they take. Plus repeat playthroughs, speedruns and secrets make it worth playing again.

So I'm up for this. Then bring on Prime 4 Resurrection 😁

I loved the motion controls when rolling bombs, swinging the sword, etc but that mine cart sequence where you had to shake to jump. I failed so much I had to give up. It was the same with the pipe blowing late into Spirit Tracks.

I'll keep an eye on this to see how it works with the joycons in handheld mode but there's no way I will pay £50 for a remaster. This isn't Final Fantasy 7. That was worth it as it was practically a completely different game.

I was watching a Dreamcast Guy video and he made a good point about Nintendo pricing. It's too much. I've reluctantly accepted new games like Zelda BotW and Animal Crossing being up to 50 pounds but this is why I haven't played several Wii U remasters/ports for a second time. They cost more than they did on Wii U over five years ago. That is just unacceptable and I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way.
