Tennant meeting Whittaker sounds like a pretty big deal, curious to see what it actually plays like
Matt Smith rulez and David Tennant droolz!
Well those are my two favourite Doctors. I wonder what the gameplay is like.
Oh man that’s pretty cool to have a multi Doctor story. I wonder who’s writing it because this sounds like a job for the Big Finish crew!
I still think they missed a trick not having Alex Kingston as the first female doctor, such a great actress. Maybe not young enough though for the target demographics?
really looking forward to this, upset that its not eccleson but he's just been welcomed back into doctor who stuff and this has most likely been in the works for a while, so its understandable
Please don’t suck, please don’t suck… We know the track record of DW games…
Aren’t we all bored of Doctor Who by now?
@Mattock1987 exterminate! Exterminate!!
@Lordplops Because then it would bring in some rather icky selfcest. Although Loki did that so maybe it’s in now.
David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker? Sign me up because they're two fantastic portrayals of the Doctor.
10th Doctor is my favorite Doctor so the idea of him meeting the current Doctor already intrigues me even if I'm not really that much of a fan of the writing during Whittaker's tenure
(Glitter beat)
Doctor Who, Hey! Doctor Who.
Doctor Who, Hey! The TARDIS.
Doctor Who, Hey! Doctor Who,
Doctor Who, Doc! Doctor Who.
Doctor Who, Doc! Doctor Who.
I'd love to play a Doctor Who videogame that wasn't trash. Especially if the story was canonical.
Here in the states, I used to be able to watch Doctor Who on Netflix, but now it's on a separate streaming service that I don't have a subsection to, so I've fallen off the bandwagon. I absolutely loved Capaldi's Doctor, and I started the season(series?) where he travels with that one guy from Great British Bake Off thats not from Mighty Boosh, but I never finished it.
I hear so many conflicting reviews of Jodie's Doctor, but I really just want to watch the new stuff and judge for myself.
@nessisonett I really don't get how - apart from you - nobody has flagged this up, first thing I thought when they nearly kissed the first time was ' Wait...but that's just you with..lady bits'. Still, I suppose it fits as nobody could love Loki as much as he loves himself.
@Lordplops Yeah, it’s at least in character for Loki. The Doctor…. not so much 😂
@nessisonett Honestly people complain about the implication of Loki doing selfcest stuff but honestly the idea of him falling in love with and settling down with literally himself from another reality is the most Loki thing Loki would do given his whole character is built off that narcassism
@nessisonett
Doctor Who already did that in 2017 with Missy and The Master.
Loki was pretty much good Dr. Who. Something the current Era is not. But hoping this game is good and worth buying.
@jump knows what's up.
@dazzleshell Loki IS good Dr Who, so true. Loki can also use a device to travel to anywhere in time and space, but Loki forgot to read the memo that says he should always go to present day London.
@JonComms Tennant is a big deal, yes
With recent numbers indicating that Dr. Who is falling off an even deeper cliff, I wonder what the future for the series will hold. Rumor has it that the regeneration scene was filmed 2 times with greenface on, one female and one male because apparently they can't find anyone willing to step into what the recent writers and producers left behind. Watched and loved it up until Capaldi.
I haven't played a Doctor Who game, what genre would this be? Would it be an action adventure? Turn based rpg? Light novel?
@Scollurio
I have the same situation with every new doctor. "Ugh nope not my doctor. Tennent was way better." "Who is this lame-o, Matt Smith is peak doctor " "why go with a lady? Capaldi was the perfect choice!" I wasn't able to give the most recent doctor a chance, since streaming moved to HBO, but I'm sure I would have felt the same about her.
Long story short, I'm surprised to hear Who isn't doing well
Nope it’s not written by chibnal.
Would love to see a Jody story which was actually written by someone competent
@Classic603 : adult rated fps with extreme violence and nudity
@jump Matt Smith played the Doctor like a monkey with ADHD. David Tennant was 1000x better.
As far as I'm concerned, Peter Capaldi is the last Doctor. I didn't leave Doctor Who, Doctor Who left me.
@JonComms I don't think they actually meet in this, this seems to be an expanded version of the VR game (10 wasn't in it) but there was a comic with them meeting and it was pretty good (as the Doctor Who comics go)

@Clammy There short story they did for lockdown (I think its Terror of the empty urns) that has 13 written by Moffet. It's, well, short but you get a tiny glimpse of what it would be like
@Classic603 It's one of those "narrative puzzle games" with some stealth sequences (don't let the Darlek see you) a random shooting section, and some decent usage of the Weeping Angels (this is all based of the original VR version, this has more content)
I really hope this is a well-made game. Would definitely put it on my wishlist if it pans out okay
@Clammy
Oh boy here I go again, simping for the doctor 🥵
Doctor Who ended when Capaldi left IMHO. The change to the character was unnecessary from a story perspective; it was just sjw virtue signaling. Create new female characters, or bring back old ones, but don't change the Doctor's established gender because "muh modern agenda."
Also, the writing has been utter ***** since Chibs took over. I might come back to the series when he and his terrible writing team leave, but can't commit at this point. I stopped watching after series 11. So sad; it used to be my favorite show.
Should we concerned that the game features glitches?
Was expecting some game trailers gameplay....
Daleks do not play games, much less ones from inferior species. We will exterminate all life in the universe! Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!
In all seriousness, I hope it's good. As an American fan of Doctor Who (and one who can do a decent Dalek impression without the use of a ring modulator, enough to make British expats who remember the show get chills down their spine, no joke), I am hoping for at least a halfway decent Doctor Who game.
Well, anything has to beat the horror of "Destiny of the Doctors" - shudder. Seriously, though, I did enjoy the VR game on PS4 and the found phone game was actually genuinely wonderful. So, I have cautious hopes for this one.
@Maulbert In fairness I felt Matt Smith played him perfectly in his first series, but I suspect there was lots of feedback that he wasn’t as over-the-top as Tenant was. So from Smith’s second series onwards he played the Doctor as if he was Jim Carrey dialled up to 11. I was really gutted about that, as Smith was the only new Doctor I actually liked, the rest just didn’t really behave like the Doctor in my book.
@JonComms Well it would be if anyone was still watching Doctor Who. The last two Doctors pretty much tanked the franchise, even The Guardian was calling for cancelation.
Well butter me interested! I want to know more!
I've never been a DW fan. But, as an outside observer, is bringing Tennant back for the game as much of a course-correction as it seems from this perspective?
Obligatory Chibnall is Chibnullsh*t and should be ashamed of what he’s done to this franchise. Jodie Whittaker had such promise and he robbed her of her potential to go down as one of the greats.
Maybe series thirteen will be marginally better, but I really hope he steps down afterwards.
@Debo626 The Master had already been a woman. The Corsair and The General too. If you knew the slightest thing about Doctor Who then you wouldn’t have a problem with The Doctor regenerating into a woman. It made complete sense from a narrative standpoint. It’s been considered since the mid-80s and Sydney Newman wanted to do it in the original run. Here’s a quote from a literal Capaldi episode but I doubt you’d know that through your blinkered perspective.
“We're the most civilised civilisation in the universe. We're billions of years beyond your petty human obsession with gender and its associated stereotypes.”
@Classic603 : I just had to look up "simping".
I wonder if it would be "simping" if i said I liked Sylvester
Mccoy, but he had bad luck with the show runner too?
@Clammy
Haha nah it's just a thing the kids are saying these days, felt silly so I memed it up.
@GloverMist Well given the track record of Who since Tenant left....
@Chocobo_Shepherd yes and unfortunately will be a huge swing and a miss...
That was a real hard stretch to work Timey Wimey in. It didn’t work.
As for the game I need to see gameplay. I’d love to love a dr who game.
@nessisonett Just a polite FYI: it is possible to disagree without being aggressive and resorting to assumptions and name-calling. You don't know anything about me or how much I know about Doctor Who. If you can't disagree politely, don't bother responding to my comment. Have a nice day.
@Debo626 Mate, you threw away all potential for politeness when you went down the ‘SJW bad’ rabbit hole. I’m not disagreeing, you’re just factually wrong about the motives and narrative reasons for the Doctor regenerating into a woman.
@nessisonett Is it weird that I just knew someone was going to start something on this article? AS SOON as I saw the article picture, I thought "uh oh, here come the lurkers. 🙄"
Jodie Whittaker is a good actor. I have seen her in a few things where she is fantastic. The issue here was the writing. I don't even think she was miscast, I think she could have pulled off the role if the scripts were better and she had better direction. If she was given the scripts Eccleston got, she would probably have done a good job. More issues were going on with the vast array of poorly written companions, odd political messaging and trying to completely undo the canon of the series, for no legitimate reason. The last season was so very very bad though. Whittaker needs to get out of Dr Who before her career is completely destroyed.
Bound to be a pile of cack, David tenant is fine but Jodie sucks monkey balls big time 😉 last descent Dr who game was on the Amiga and C64😆😉
@JonComms That's already happened multiple times anyway. They're trying to get more people interested in Jodie's stuff, so have put David into multiple pieces of her media and made David the main doctor for EU stuff again recently.
@eaglebob345 That's not weird, I'm pretty sure it's in the league rules. Any time there is an article on anything in the Star Trek, Star Wars or Doctor Who universes, any members within radio range must respond with comments about SJWs ruining the franchise involved with their gosh-darn wokeness.
It's particularly funny when Trekkies and Whovians do it, though, seeing as it directly contradicts both series' founding ideals both behind the screen and in universe.
Like, bro, have you even watched the show?
@Mattock1987 Yeah like James Bond and Sherlock Holmes and Robin Hood, these enduring British characters need to know when to call it a day... /s
@DoctorYoghurt well yes, I actually agree with you regarding all of those characters- they’ve been milked enough.
@JasmineDragon Haha, that's fair. I forgot about the mythical "Troll Code of Conduct" and "The Alt-right Guide to Lurking in Internet Comments". You'd think all their time would be taken up terrorizing small towns in rural America with tiki torches, yet they always find the time to comment on articles on inclusivity in media... or just articles about a media franchise with a lady in it.
Heck yeah!!!! Best game news I've heard in a while!!! I'm so psyched. Remember when doctor who seasons were, like, almost every year, and they were, like, full seasons? We needs some new Who on that TV.
Dearest, @jump, Matt Smith does not "rulez!" 😠😠
I'm kidding, he totally does!
God I miss Matt Smith<3
Can't tell you how many times I've watched Day of the Doctor.
@WoomyNNYes it really helped that Matt Smith had the best Doctor Who writer in Steve Moffat, Tennant was kinda ruined by Russell T Davies‘ obsession with Rose which got dull when they kept talking about her for years still after she had left.
@jump Agreed! I was going to say that, too. I really miss the writers steven moffat & russel T davies. Those were the days.
I haven't liked the writing/direction since Jody Whittaker. I wish moffat & davies were writing for her.
@Whitestrider exterminate chris chibnall please
Last time I watched Dr Who was with the 5th doctor back in the late 80s or early 90s.
@GloverMist If its based off of the Edge of Time game its going to suck
They're really just putting Tennant in everything Doctor Who right now, goes to show they've got zero faith in Jodie - if this game is going to just be The Edge of Time VR but with a bunch of 10th Doctor fan-w*** then this is going to be yet another disappointing attempt to keep Doctor Who alive
@Classic603 I know what you mean and can relate. But this goes beyond that. Political themes have entered the realm of Dr. Who and unfortunately Whittaker isn't a very good actress. These two factors combined curbed the interest of many viewers. I've watched only 2 episodes out of order of Whittaker's Doctor and could barely watch it. It really took a nosedive since Tennant and Smith days.
The recent change in leadership and writers of course plays a huge role as well. And no I am not being political here, but it's perfectly fine to say "nope, don't like that product anymore for reasons X and Y."
@jump All a matter of perception. I liked that they talked about her for so long. She was a central piece of the plot (like you said) and it felt more "real" to me that she wasn't just forgotten when when the story progressed. Russel T Davis was more enjoyable for me than Moffat, even though Moffat had a few brilliant episodes but to me ran dry of creativity in his later days of writing for Who.
But I can't really blame him. If you're tasked with constantly putting out quality content to a Show that in reality has had almost EVERY storyline possible already due to it's nature, there's bound to be a few duds here and there.
