It's the era of colourful, stylised beat 'em ups, and publisher Microids has confirmed a release date for another that's on the way to Switch - Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! will arrive on 25th November.
Developed by Mr Nutz Studio, this one is aiming to stick as closely to the original material as possible, also incorporating a hand-drawn style to bring the comics to mind. You can see the latest trailer above and it's certainly looking promising.
Microids has also confirmed Limited and Special Edition versions for retail.
Let us know what you think; is this on your radar for late November?

I remember me and a friend playing the arcade game together as kids during a beach holiday and taking it in turns to run to the change machine when we were low on credits. First arcade game I actually completed. Might check this out, although would prefer it just hit a standard physical release, rather than these limited and collectors editions...
This looks fab! Will keep an eye on it
Say it with me….
When I say……”Day….”
You say……. “One…..”
“Day…….”
I Like how rhe name reminds me of the GBA realese. Asterix -Bash them all. That also included a game just like.
I havet really have fun with a side scrolling beet em up since Golden Axe. I just think they all get so repetetive. But I Will give this a chanse.
It looks so good!
Loved to books, cartoons and even the live action film (with Gerard Depardieu as Obelix) but wasn't really a fan of the games
Could be good if they’re hewing closely to the Konami game. Although this doesn’t look quite as well animated at first glance
All I remember of this franchise was when I watched a few cartoon episodes of it in a French class I took.
The only Asterix game I've ever played was the platformer on the Master System. That's a great game. This looks nice but I think I prefer the original's look.
@OorWullie The original Sega developed Asterix game for the Master System was fabulous. Still play it from time to time. The second one, Asterix and the Secret Mission, was pretty good too and the third game, Asterix and the Great Rescue, was one of those times when the Master System game was actually much better than the Mega drive version.
So glad it's a regular physical release and not a limited one like LRG, Play-Asia, and Strictly Limited Games. I love all the Microids physical releases, I was able to buy all their Oddworld games with no issue and those are still up for grabs at Amazon.
First Turtles. Now Asterix. All we need now is Simpsons and X-Men, and all of Konami’s best beat-em ups will have been rebooted for today’s generation.
This is great news, the original arcade game is brilliant. This and Turtles, all good 👍
@BionicDodo It's been near 30 years since I played it. I'd love to go through it again. I've been considering getting one of those retro handhelds from China. If I do, Asterix will be one of the first games I play on it. I have never played the sequels, so I'll give them a go too.
I’m not sure if it’s in keeping with the cartoon series.
But the voice casting is completely off!
Still play the Master system Asterix games. Will take a look at this, nice art style.
Has anyone played the XXL games on switch? I love Asterix but wasn't sure if they were worth playing.
@Stocksy "One!"
@RetrovisRabbit high five!!!
the only one to play along!
I used to read the comics as a kid. The roast boar that Obelix was always eating looked freakin delicious.
Can't say I was expecting that.
I see some references to classic animated films in the attacks.
Those developers are crazy!
This is very disrespectful to all survivors of domestic abuse and also victims of happy slapping. I hope the publisher reconsiders the name and puts at least 2 trigger warnings in the game.
@Stocksy Glad I could make your day!
Also, I'm fully aware this site runs out of the UK and caters to both sides of the "pond", but just throwing this out there, I'm one of very very few US residents who even knows who Asterix is anymore. Why, I've got an old hardbound collection of six stories from the 80s around here, by Toutatis!
@RetrovisRabbit tbh in England it’s the same story. It’s not been a thing here for years. I think it’s still popular in France…. I’m surprised it’s had four recent games!
@Chris77 I keep trying out the XXL games (I think most of them have demos) and in my opinion they are a bit... cheap and plasticky. Made me wonder if perhaps my Asterix nostalgia was meant to stay in the past.
But maybe it was just the weirdness of the 3D. This one actually looks pretty cool!
Sadly, this went 2D also. Hopefully, it's fun, though.
From the US, and a huge fan of Asterix so I will be picking this up for sure. Might just go digital though, this doesn't seem like the kind of game I would play often enough to want a physical cart.
