Yacht Club Games has released new gameplay footage for the forthcoming Shovel Knight expansion, Specter of Torment.
As the title suggests, you'll be controlling Shovel Knight's foe Specter Knight in this prequel DLC. The action follows the evildoer as he attempts to form The Order of No Quarter, against which Shovel Knight faces off in the original game.
This new DLC will be coming to Wii U, 3DS and Nintendo Switch. Yacht Club Games confirmed a while back that it will be repackaging Shovel Knight and the DLC released so far this year. The game will also be getting new features, such as the ability to gender swap the main characters.

It looks great.
Day 1 buy for Switch. Do we know if there will be a Physical release?
I'm really happy to see a pixelated indie game acheive everything Shovel Knight has. The expansions are good and the amiibo is awesome. I'm eager to see what Yacht Club is cooking up next though. I'm Shovel Knighted out.
I wonder if you'll have to beat plague of shadows to access this one? I just couldn't get along with it and don't see myself going back to finish it.
@Steelhead I don't think so but if you do then they will probably release a "cheat code" so you can unlock SoT without beating PoS.
Looks like it will be a fun way to replay shovel knight. Looking forward to it.
Still haven't touch Plague of Shadows, but Spectre Knight looks incredibly fun to play. This may tempt me back to Shovel Knight.
It would be awesome if they could add online leaderboards and give Specter Knight his own amiibo as is this is amazing Yacht Club have done awesome awesome things with this game my hats off to them .
Plague of Shadows is a... challenge, but after going through most of it, it becomes a bit easier.
No sure if I get it on Switch, but I'll be enjoying the update on 3DS. The more I hear about it the more it sounds like a new game.
When's it out for wiiu?
@Steelhead Yacht Club did an unlock code for Plague of Shadows, so I expect they'll do the same. They seem smart enough to know that the different campaigns may not appeal to everyone and that choice and flexibility are good things.
Sounds like they remixed the music here. Interesting. I love Shovel Knight so far and just replayed the released campaigns a week ago in anticipation of the next part. I'm looking forward to the new campaign a lot.
I really hope that Yacht Club waits until all DLC is out and then releases a physical Switch cartridge with all DLC on it!
@sdelfin ah, I was hoping for something like that.
I'm still highly impressed by everything the guys at Yacht Club games have done with this game. This is how you go that extra mile and really deliver a product that meets and even exceed gamer's expectations in many ways; it's the model example of how you leave gamers feeling truly happy and satisfied with their purchase. Kudos.
This will be plaguing my Wii U soon!
This is shaping up great, if it's half as good as plague of shadows or the base game, we're in for a real treat.
@SwitchFanatic
Hope you also bought a pro controller then???
Games like this will be unplayable with the joy-cons without proper d-pad. Like so many other 2d games. It's a disaster
No Shovel Knight on the go then. Better to play this on a 3DS.
@SanderEvers that's a shame no physical version for Switch. I will still download it though.
@dres Pro Controllers just came available this week but thankfully I was able to get one on preorder. Agree that some games are just better with a D Pad
