Heist is the best game in the series IMO so it's the one I wanted to see a sequel to the most. Not that I would be complaining about a SteamWorld Quest 2 either.
I'm usually pretty keen to check out anything they make so I'll do my bit and buy a copy at launch. Game looks pretty crazy, was probably the most interesting announcement of the Direct for me.
I've already played both games but it's still very exciting to see Investigations 2 finally get an official English release. It's an incredible game that all fans of the series deserve the opportunity to experience. Hopefully now that all these ports are out of the way though we can finally get an Ace Attorney 7 next, it's been quite the wait.
Nice to finally see some footage, looking really good. No surprise about it releasing next year, I would have been shocked to see it release before the next console.
We all knew it was coming but it’s nice to get confirmation of the date and time. Not getting my hopes up too high for this one as I’m expecting Nintendo to be focusing on the next system at this point. Anything more than ports/filler games would be a pretty nice surprise.
It's just a single charm so not really much of a crossover. Really nice content update with a lot of fun new battles, companions and charms. One particular companion might be a tad OP though as most of my recent runs have ended with them in my team and just obliterating everything.
They missed the boat on this one for me. If they ported it over to the Switch before the sequel came out then I probably would have bought and played it first but I'm not interested in playing 1 after playing 2.
The ability to save anywhere is a really nice addition. Main reason I scored the original game an 8/10 instead of a 9 was that I found running back to the nearest save point every now and then to be pretty tedious and took away from exploring the areas which was otherwise pretty fun. Still not enough to make me buy the whole game again though. Maybe later down on sale.
I went into this year expecting mostly just filler titles so not getting my hopes up for any particularly interesting reveals in this Direct. This year is mostly just a chance to get through as much of the backlog as possible before the next console comes out.
There aren't too many tempting deals on my wish list but that's because I already own most of the stuff I was particularly interested in at this point. The Case of the Golden Idol though and Sentiment are the two that I might grab.
@edgedino @datamonkey It's been in the coming soon section of the eShop for a while so check that to see the exact price for your region. Here in Australia it's $44.94 AUD which is like 50% more than SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition which is $29.99 (when it's not on sale like it is half the time).
Definitely gotta give it to Animal Well this month. Also picked up Touhou Mystia's Izakaya as a chill game to play on the side while watching YouTube and ended up putting a good 75+ hours into it.
I played probably close to ten hours when it first came out on Switch before getting a bit tired of it and taking a break. Still haven't gotten around to it. I'll definitely have to start over from scratch now after so long if/when I do eventually give it another chance.
@ShonenJump121 I was hesitant to upgrade to the OLED at first but then caved and bought one like a week after they came out haha. As someone who plays pretty much exclusively in handheld mode it was 100% worth it, such a big improvement. Bit harder to justify an expensive upgrade now though with a new system being just around the corner.
I've had the anime in the pile of anime that I plan to watch for quite a while but it's a large pile so I dunno when I'll end up getting around to watching it. Won't consider buying these until then but threw them the wish list for now just in case I get around to it.
I ended up grabbing the iam8bit exclusive edition of Sea of Stars instead of just buying a local copy so still gotta wait a little longer till whenever that eventually ships. Not really in any hurry but looking forward to finally playing it at some point.
I'm thinking about switching to digital next system as I don't have endless space to keep filling with physical games forever plus I'd probably end up buying less games that I don't end up playing that way. I do still want backwards compatibility with my Switch cartridges though.
More ports and smaller stuff to fill the schedule till the next console is all I'm really expecting. Gotta save all the big stuff for the new system so we can hopefully get a strong launch year like the Switch got in 2017. I'm taking the time to work through some of my huge Switch backlog in the meantime.
@Greatluigi SteamWorld Quest doesn't seem to be getting too much love but it's my second favourite in the series behind Heist. Worth checking out if you have any interest in games with deck building mechanics. I hope it gets the sequel treatment at some point too.
Really looking forward to this one. Heist is my favourite game in the series and if they do as good a good of expanding on the original as Dig 2 did compared to Dig then this should be even better. The job system looks fun.
I really like how the Joy-Con feel and play but I really hope the controllers for the next system are way more durable. I've gone through way too many sets thanks to drift and other issues.
@Diowine I was always expecting this to just be a bit of a filler year from Nintendo to be honest, if the next console is right around the corner. Their focus should be on making sure that has a big launch year like the Switch did.
I've never been able to tell the difference between 30 and 60 without seeing it side-by-side so I couldn't really care less as long as it's relatively stable.
Wasn't sure what to make about this one so was waiting for reviews before deciding either way and definitely passing on it now after glancing through its reviews so far. Seems like another one of those games that is trying to just get away with doing the bare minimum and for full retail price, no thanks.
If I do get it, I'm leaning towards a digital copy so for now I'm happy to just wait and see how it reviews before pulling the trigger on the download.
@Thief I had Reboot Camp preordered and was planning to get it day one but lost interest after it got delayed. I wonder how badly that affected its sales overall.
I was kinda resigned to Silksong potentially being the big announcement at the end which wouldn’t have really excited me as I haven’t even bothered finishing Hollow Knight yet so this was a extra pleasant surprise. I loved the first SteamWorld Heist (definitely my favourite SteamWorld game so far) so I’m pretty excited to see it get a sequel.
@iaLgan Pokemon cards at least hold some actual value though and can potentially be resold later I guess. A random in-game Pokemon is worthless and you're paying for something that you should be able to obtain for free without much trouble.
I'm thinking about going digital for the next system, mainly just because I don't have the space to keep piling up physical games forever but also I'd probably end up buying less games that I never end up getting around to playing. I'm still turned off by the idea of a digital only system at this stage though if it's backwards compatible as I still have a ton of Switch games I need to get through and I prefer not to have to carry around two different systems if I can avoid it. I could make do if I had to though.
Still got my Wii copy but it's been forever since I played it. Really enjoyed it back in the day and if they rereleased it on Switch or the Switch successor I'd buy it day one.
Expecting it to be a little while till the update comes to Switch but looking forward to going back to the game once it does. I mainly stopped playing because the higher stakes weren't really fun to grind in the current game but the new orange and gold antes should make it much more interesting.
I just position my dock sideways if I need to so that the cords come out the back instead so I haven't really ever felt a problem. More options are never a bad thing though if they were to implement this in the next dock.
Glad I pre-ordered this one early as it's been basically non-existent here since launch. Had a real blast with it. It's a pretty long game to do everything and I was still a little sad when it was over as I was still having so much fun. My favourite game of the year so far, will be tough to beat.
As a big fan of handheld gaming in general, I'm not against having more options in that space. It's very unlikely that any Xbox product will have much appeal to me though, handheld or otherwise.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Final Fantasy Game? Rate Your Favourite Mainline & Spin-Offs
The Theatrythm games are easily my favourites in the series. Unpopular opinion but the mainline FF games are pretty mediocre as far as JRPGs go IMO.
