Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

Barbara001

As a Pokémon Blue Starter, (Bulbasaur btw), I don't agree. I LOVE (!!!) ZA. Dreaded Arceus actually. But I also dreaded Diamond and Pearl (yes, the original ones). I guess it's what you think about Pokémon as a franchise and how you translated the pixels into your fantasy. For me, ZA is exactly the animé and how I translated the pixels from blue into HD. It has sidemissions, little storylines of Pokémon and their trainers, an overarching storyline, I LOVE it! Same with Scarlett, played it for many hours and gotten multiple Pokémon to level 100.
If you want my 2 cents, it's the sheer amount of AMAZING RPG's on Switch. When Blue came around, on a handheld, there were like... one, there was Pokémon. On the hybrid system, which also has all the console games the amount of great games is astounding! So for the handheld gamers, the pickings were way slimmer back then. But now, you have SO MUCH (which is great). But then Pokémon becomes a taste, instead of "what's the game to play of you want this type of game". Some like the taste, some don't. But when all you have to eat is brusselsprouts or rocks, you're like WOW BRUSSELSPROUTS, but when you have an exquise dinner buffet you're like ewwww, Brusselsprouts...
I hope I articulated that al comprehensively and please don't throw rocks at me now.

Re: Reaction: Switch 2 Needed A Partner Showcase With Pep; This Wasn't It

I just saw the Japanese Direct and that leaked 2d-hd farming game actually did show up. So maybe that's a Japan exclusive for now?
I was hoping for a western release date for Proud Nordics (which also was in de Japanese Direct, the game, not the releasedate).
Also they got footage of Demon Slayer 2 and Dragon Quest 1+2 HD remake and the news that part 3 is getting a switch 2 free update.
I should have just watched the Japanese direct apparently...

Re: Gabe Newell: Pricing Valve's Switch-Like Steam Deck Was "Painful"

Barbara001

I hate to say it, but I'm gonna say it. Gonna buy this instead of a switch OLED. And I'm gonna play the bejeezus out of it. And probably won't touch my switch for a very long time. The update on OLED should have been internal hardware, not just the screen. Nintendo blew it, thinking thwy had the monopoly. If I were Nintendo, I'd be freaaking out right now. You're not gonna sell the 5 year old console with just your first party games. They have to develop a pro. And quickly. Or they're gonna lose this entire thing.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Miss Instruction Manuals?

Barbara001

I miss them so much!!! You could tell if it was gonna be a good game by looking at the booklet. If it had nice pictures and drawings, good explanations and different fonts, i.e., if they had put effort in it, that same effort would have gone into making the game. Lifia for instance came with a walkthrough with maps, explanations, the works, all with nic illustrations and such. The Zelda manuals were always very high qualitiy, as was the trainers manual that came with the pokemon games. While other games just had a standard booklet with some warnings and a button lay out (if you were lucky).
And while I was taking the game out of it's packaging, I was always anxious to see the booklet. Would it be a good memory in the making, or a bad purchase? The booklet would tell me, even before I booted up the game.
I bet Ys VIII would hsve had an amazing booklet, cause that was also a very awesome game (one of the best Switch games I played)
