Re: Talking Point: Do You Miss Instruction Manuals?

Barbara001

I miss them so much!!! You could tell if it was gonna be a good game by looking at the booklet. If it had nice pictures and drawings, good explanations and different fonts, i.e., if they had put effort in it, that same effort would have gone into making the game. Lifia for instance came with a walkthrough with maps, explanations, the works, all with nic illustrations and such. The Zelda manuals were always very high qualitiy, as was the trainers manual that came with the pokemon games. While other games just had a standard booklet with some warnings and a button lay out (if you were lucky).
And while I was taking the game out of it's packaging, I was always anxious to see the booklet. Would it be a good memory in the making, or a bad purchase? The booklet would tell me, even before I booted up the game.
I bet Ys VIII would hsve had an amazing booklet, cause that was also a very awesome game (one of the best Switch games I played)

Re: Japan Voted On Final Fantasy's Best Games And Characters - Do You Agree With The Ranking?

@Aneira I do get where you are coming from. FF VI and VII have such great plotlines, so many characters, extra characters that are optional and not everything is spelled out, so much is left to the imagination to fill the blanks. But with the newer games everything is spelled out, sometimes to the extend of over explaining. Fewer characters, bigger visuals, lots of booms and bams, little depth. That's why I was glad I played the Pocket Version first. It's got all the story, but a not so OOOOOH artstyle, I had to use my imagination again and some plotpoints are incorporated that are not fully fleshed out, giving it that old school "not everything is explained" feel.
I sometimes miss the days of really great RPG's. Lufia, older Tales of.. Games, the older Final Fantasy's. So I really do get what you are saying. I hope the upcoming Mana remake will scratch my itch. And I saw a trailer today of the Shin Megami Tensei III Remaster that looks very promising.
So, in conclusion, perhaps give the FF XV Pocket Edition a shot, you might like that one and fingers crossed that ff XVI will be better, though I wasn't that fond of the trailer to be honest... They should have a new writer now though, so we shall see.

@Aneira FF VIII, VII, VI, IX, X, I, IV, III, II just a little, didn't play, XII, XIII, XI, XIV, V. So no, not all of them but most of them. I guess the biggest problem was the hype, since you named the disappointment. People were expecting so much, the biggest, baddest most spectacular, but got something quite precious. And I played it as that precious little thing, which made it very special to me, cause I played it quite a while after the release.

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

Barbara001

Come on. It's an adventure game. Fallout is not in a "fantasy world" as such, but it's a first person RPG. Borderlands has RPG elements. Paper Mario for some reason stopped being an rpg. Of I don't get experience points, it's not an rpg.

@Friendly I loooooove that game! First RPG I ever played and since then I cannot stop playong them, always hoping some game will ever be as great as that one. Some get there (Tales of the Abyss, Ys VIII, Final Fantasy games), most of them don't however. I still go back to the game sometimes, reliving the memories.

@COVIDberry I think you're saying: "You think news is slow now, I know when new was slow, back then, that is when news was slow". Because I said, news is slow now. So I'm saying, I know, I was there, I lived the Star Wars (Wii U era). Hell I lived the Gameboy Era... I'm old... Anyway, my post was not it being slow news perse, it was more a, wow, what a weird thing to remember as "news" now, must mean there's no Breath of the Wild 2 to cover. Cause I think this article wouldn't exist if there was Breath of the Wild 2 news.

Re: Nintendo First Shared Switch Launch Details Four Years Ago Today

@COVIDberry did you just call me Red? Really? 4 years ago called, they want their slurs back (get it, 4 yeara ago, because of the articl... Aah never mind). And I now all about the wii u era, trust me, i have MEMberries (get it, south park, and your name is COVIDbe... Aaah, never mind). Point is, remembering the day we learned the price of the switch launch is... Well, I don't think its worth MEMbering (get, it, with the berries agai... Aaah, never mind)

Re: Nintendo First Shared Switch Launch Details Four Years Ago Today

@Damo the switch wasn't shown of 4 years ago though. The details of pricing, release date and launchtitles were revealed, the switch itself was revealed before that. They also changed the headline, the original headline was "4 years ago the switch launch titles were revealed" or something in that notion. The switch reveal "after so many years" I get, "We learned price details 4 years ago"... Noooo, that's not news worthy (in my opinion)

Re: Switch Is No Longer The Only Way To Play Bloodstained On The Move

Barbara001

@PickledKong64 no it doesn't. It's a buggy mess! The texts disappears every now and then and the framerate is choppy (at least when I played it). So I then decided, if It's not gonna run well, it's gonna run bad on the switch, cause then it's in handheld. And with the previous patch that kind of worked. Until they patched it again a few months back and messed everything up again framerate wise! These developers cannot develop. Which is like the saddest thing ever, cause Casltevania is one of my favorite franchises.
