For all of you football / soccer-ball fans, 'football drama' likely refers to the unedifying sight of a dozen billionaires and assorted cronies trying to create a 'European Super League', then backing down within 72 hours when everyone pointed out it was the worst idea since the Virtual Boy. But no, in the Switch eShop Football Drama is a video game, and a rather intriguing one at that.
Football Drama has previously been released on mobile and Steam, with user reviews largely unable to agree on its merits. The concept, however, looks intriguing, and reminds this writer of a 'choose your adventure' football book from childhood in which a choice or roll of a dice would impact events through a 'season'. In this game you'll have dialogue and action choices, cards you can play to influence events, and also make key decisions to affect a football match result.
At the very least, it's something unique and different to the various football games out there right now.
Football Drama isn't far away, with pre-orders live from today and the game launching on 6th May priced at $9.99USD / £8.99; there'll be a 10% discount on pre-orders.
So, what do you think, will you be kicking off with this one?

Nice concept. Doesn't look too entertaining though.
interesting Ideas but looks a little dull to keep me entertained
EA will be gutted that the ESL is no more. They would have put out a seperate full price game alongside FIFA 22.
looks cool- and reasonably priced
I congratulate the writer. He's used this week's major sports headline to make eyes look to a 0-click type of game (not that the game is bad or anything). Great job!!!
Can someone explain the super league?
If this is as surprisingly good as Behold the Kickman, count me in.

Seems like they took a page from Sony it seems
@1ofUs It's similar to the regular league, but 16-bit.
@1ofUs
Open any European news paper and the explanation is there.

It was indeed a selfish arrogant idea, which nobody wanted besides the big dukes themselves. It was only about the money and totally undermined all that football stands for in it's beauty. That David, although tiny as it is, always has a chance to take out Goliath. They tried to destroy that.
These 12 clubs has damaged their reputation and it does not look like the fans are forgiving so easily.
@blockfight exactly, they made a fun actiongame into a slow chesslike game... not sure if I like it.
@1ofUs Sure, 12 of the richest clubs in the world wanted to break away from the current continental competition and create their own closed one with up to eight more teams joining (five on a rotational basis as they'd have to play their way in unlike the others who are there permanently). They'd receive enormous sums of money to be in this league and would supposedly, though I don't believe it, trickle this money down into the domestic league for the smaller clubs to enjoy. They got absolutely hammered over this idea by virtually everyone, and rightfully so, as the massive financial disparity between clubs would widen to an even more criminal level.
Just play Captain Tsubasa
@OorWullie probably not. FIFA organisation is clearly against the whole thing and EA probably wouldnt risk upsetting FIFA by going for gaming rights. Probably would have been more likely that Konami swooped in and got the rights. Would be a big challenger to the FIFA games since it would have all the big name stars except for a small few few (Mbappe, Neymar etc)
Good timing. I'm sure it will sell way better with all the actual drama going on.
