Havent played the witcher, heard about it having mediocre combat. So did Skyrim IMHO. I think these games are about immersion in a huge fantasy world - thats the main selling point. I dont think we can compare games like zelda and witcher but still, you are right, Nintendo should learn from its competition and try new things, probably new IPs.
Zelda is never gonna be obsolete. Especially in an era of the witcher and other adult oriented titles we need games that both children and adults can play and have. Something that doesnt excel at making a grim and gritty worlds feel tangible but rather focus on the bright and beautiful - thats what Zelda has been to me, a diversion from games like fallout, skyrim and many other titles. I rather scour zeldas dungeon and find a solution to some puzzles than roam forsaken vaults in order to collect some scrap metal, but thats just me.
Totally agree with you. Buying the same game, from the same company multiple times is crazy! Its the same account - so cross buy shouldnt be a problem. Its just corporate greed thats behind it.
Not a huge loss. Personally I am rather biased against Ubisoft - its just another EA for me. Havent bought a game from them in probably 10 years - Zombi U is the only exception - its still sealed though - maybe I am gonna sell it
They were rather surprised not too many people would buy their Wii U at launch and want to play nintendoland. That would have been easy money. Over time they realized they would need to bring out quality titles like mario kart 8 and not just remakes of old zelda titles - an impossible task. Right now they have shuffled all resources towards the NX and hope to make their money then.
I think people should really give it a chance! There is nothing wrong with modernizing something if its done really well, and besides, who knows, if this show proves succesfull maybe it will be incentive for capcom to bring out new mega man games...
- its great for people who like graphics and movies I guess. Liked the first, loved the second, played the third and thought it was really boring - in fact, all of them were boring and shallow, but I didnt realize it at first. So I guess the fourth is the same with a fresh coat of paint. Watching a movie and shooting, shooting, shooting...
As a matter of fact having two, separate consoles, would be a great thing. I wonder if it makes any sense to get a game running on both a stationary console and a handheld. There is always compromises to be made. I kinda like my wii U AND my 3ds for the experiences they provide.
Why do think so? Fact is, nintendo has been cheaping out their customers for a long time, by providing old fashioned hardware. What if the wii u had been more powerful? They could have still made the games they wanted to make. And other developers would be enabled to port their games to the wii u. Being innovative does not mean you need to use outdated hardware. Graphics and power arent everything but they CAN make things possible. Let me give you an example. When I bought the ps3 I became interested in Blurays just because I suddenly had the possibility to play them. My mother likes BBC documentaries and we bought a lot of them over the years. I still have my ps3 (but dont own any games), just use it for watching blu-rays. However, it has been working louder and louder these days and I fear its days might be over soon. Sure, it will break one day - and what then? Am I gonna buy another PS3 just for playing blu-rays? Certainly not! Am I gonna buy a blu-ray player? Wouldnt really wanna do that! The Wii U doesnt play blurays. If it did I would have another option. And this is another reason why I am somewhat inclined to buy the ps4 one day. I think its cool if a console was just made to play games - its really awesome if that is its main focus. On the other hand I dont like the idea of having to switch between multiple devices if it could technically run on one and the same device.
IMHO innovation is cool, but it should definitely bring already established stuff with it and not cheap out on it. Its like buying a car which has some innovative technique but comes without airbags.
I think thats a minor complaint. As far as I know there is still tons to do in the game, the world seems to consist of beautiful scenery and graphics and the sidequests are more than the usual fetch quests. Of course, I am still undecided wether I will buy the ps4 in the long run. It will largely depend on what nintendo has to offer - so far I am good, and even right now I have such a huge backlog of games that I doubt I will ever play in my life - I am getting older . Instead of beating the games that I own I just tend to play MK8 online - never even tried splatoon , even though I bought it around day one.
Agreed, however, nintendo should continue what they have been doing but still provide a platform that IS ABLE to cater to the needs of graphics enthusiasts and third party developers.
- I will probably do that. In fact I am just toying with the idea of getting the PS4. I would like to play the witcher with its add-ons. Thats basically the only ps4 game that I am interested in. Its a shame to buy a console just for one game. Maybe I will wait until the ps4 gets cheaper (probably when the ps4 k releases). I will definitely wait and see what nintendo comes up with.
Nintendo console madness I am currently considering the purchase of a ps4 (would like to play the witcher). But will wait until more about the nx is revealed
I bought Codename Steam around day one for full price, being aware of the negative feedback I kept my expectations low. I dont think its a bad game - but after playing a couple of levels I sadly lost interest and moved on to something else. Definitely gonna go back some day... I think this game is a little bit like xcom - but worse. A new IP should be better than some benchmark titles in order to be succesful - a good reputation of the developer does not always help... In retrospect I should have waited with the purchase until now - for half price...
I am just interested in games - neither trading cards nor amiibo toyds will waste space in my room. But thats just me and to each his own. Collecting can be a lot of fun, though, finding that rare gem that you have been looking for for years can be an awesome feeling but then what? I 'collect' games in the sense that I buy them and dont sell them. I dont buy garbage like amiibo festival just because its made by nintendo and if I cant get my Pikmin 2 for a decent price then I will have to put up with that fact. Its nice to have a passion for something, an addiction is an entirely different thing. Take a look at certain game rooms which you can see on the net. People buy virtually every game for a system no matter how good or how bad it is - sometimes multiple version of the same game - just to own them and have a complete collection of some sort. I doubt they will ever have the time or even want to play all of those games through. - to be fair, I doubt that I will ever play through all of my games.
Could never get into pokemon - couldnt get into Yo Kai either (played the demo). One thing is certain however, I hate dual releases - if its just a couple of monsters that are different. Fire Emblem Fates made somehow sense with different campaigns - however, even that approach was questionable - not to mention the whole Special Edition disaster
Funny thing, I recently just finished the first AA game as well - my backlog is even greater than yours. So waiting for a dicount for an eshop is not a problem at all for me . I tend to buy physical games right away at release (which is why my backlog is constantly rising) but games which are digital only can wait - they will always be there...
Definitely games should receive final scores. I am not really interested in wether an 8.3 game is better than an 8.2 game, its just a general indicator how well the game was received. And its interesting to see how the reviewers justifies the score he has given.
Same with me! This is actually the main reason why nintendo screwed up big in my eyes. If they had released all three games physically I wouldnt have even bothered getting the special edition. Other than that its just plain weak.
Like I said a couple of weeks ago - nintendo absolutely knew what they were doing - they havent learnt anything. Is it so hard for them to print some more copies - especially because of their faulty system. I am very curious what the prices will be after lucky buyers get their copies and start scalping people off. Thank you nintendo! Well done!
I think the Nx missing the holiday season is not that bad - I doubt it would be on many peoples wishlist anyway - not talking die-hard nintendo fans here. Its better if it launches in march with lets say Zelda as a launch title (wonder if Zelda is the culprit for the delay). A holiday release would only make sense if killer apps were available otherwise it would repeat the Wii U launch which wasnt a good thing

Re: Poll: The Wii U GamePad - Where Do You Stand on Nintendo's Hefty Controller?
Even though I quite like the controller I think it was not a good idea.
First of all it kinda makes an underpowered console quite expensive for what it is. Second, it wasnt really put to good use too much. How many games really make use of it? I understand it was the only way to go for nintendo to introduce it. If the pro controller was the standard, nobody would have bought an expensive alternative that doesnt really do a lot.
